R.I.P. Bleeding Gums Murphy!
He will forever be missed...
Who's he?
alan30189 a character from The Simpsons
that's how a met this song.....
czcams.com/video/PX05DJWNj3k/video.html
she gave me a hug when i told her jazzman was my favorite song on an early morning in ketchum,id in 1978. she's one of the many reasons i write and sing on you tube❤
She is just a National Treasure. In the beginning of the Disco era she releases this. What an awesome track!
I’m so glad that James Taylor encouraged her to come out of her shell and start singing her own compositions again. Otherwise the world might have missed out on her incredible gift.
She had taken time out to raise children and had become just a writer, and it’s said that she lost confidence after her divorce from Gerry Goffin. But I bet her children were so proud of their mum growing up, hearing her sing her own songs.
Anyway, she certainly must have recovered it because her seventies albums were top drawer.
yeah disco was right around the corner
Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell. The 70's were the best! Loved all of those singers! Pure class all of them.
Add Janis Ian and I agree
@@markbradford5932 I'm good with that!
if there is a better composition of piano, saxophone and lyrics combined into one song, I have yet to hear it. Tremendous musical genius.
ABALUTLY !!!
ABALUTLY,ABALUTLY,FORSURE,FORSURE!!!!AHHAAHHA,OOHYAA,YEP!THAT'STHESPOT!!!
DITTO!! Outrageously Fantastic!!!
The only song that does it as well, in my opinion is Your Latest Trick, Dire Straits.
liesa Simpson and bleeding gums did this
She doesn’t need any sheet music to play it. She has it recorded by heart in her heart. Stunning. One of her best songs ever!
why don't we have music like this any more? so sad...
Because the music industry isn't interested in Music or art. They are more interested in sales and the bottom line.
So true. Money speaks louder than true art(ist) we loved and grew up with. I can't remember when I last listened to anything other than the classics.
This is one of the most mesmerising performances I have ever seen. Absolutely outstanding. Love this young Lady!!!!
You do know she's in her 70s now.
Every note, every lyric, every octave resonates!
Words cannot express what this song means to be as a young kid growing up in a jazz family my dad played saxophone and Alto this was truly the first song that I really felt music internally I was probably 8 or 9 years old but it hit me and it has never left since this is my first time seeing this video and it's very emotional the whole coming together of her voice and of course the alto solo my God and Carole King thank you for this kind of music it never gets old it's a great representation of a real band enjoying what they're doing you can see the expressions and the looks she gives the alto player as they go through the song this is it 🙏👍💪🌹🎼🇺🇲
I love the way all the musicians are interacting with each other on this amazing track, only adding the the magic of the song itself!
She seems just as happy to play, and also to watch the spotlight shine on her fellow musicians (guitarist and sax dude). Love it.
She's so beautiful to watch perform
She looks pretty good now
She got that big Carly Simon mouth... for singin' real good
Carol King and Christie Mc Vie the 2 greatest ladies of Rock-n-roll for all time.......second to no one........Thanks for raising me on such great music ladies.......
Man I sure miss the sax solos of the old days!
They're still around. Check these two out:
czcams.com/video/DCopcNpzc60/video.html - Sax solo at 7:48 - other oustanding solos are before and after the sax solo. The bass solo is unbelievable!
And...
czcams.com/video/9vWEa-ydr7A/video.html
Brian's father is the lead trumpet on this one. Sax solo by Dave Koz at 4:58 - Absolutely phenomenal!
Couldn’t agree more. Baker Street is another that comes to mind
@@bobarnold5906 I thought the same.
They're actually still all there, you can listen to them whenever you want :P
I can kick their asses with my kazoo..
Still one of my favorite songs of all time, ever since I first heard it from n 1975 when I was 15. I played the flute & saxophone 🎷 in the band!
SING IT CAROL... JAZZZZ-MAN, TAKE MY BLUES AWAY!!! 🎶🎶🎶
Lisa Simpson
Oh the joy this talented woman and her band brought to me and still does…thank you thank you thank you!
this song still makes me emotional. ..
Me too
Me too!!! I sing it to me 1st born Granddaughter Jasmine..she 16 and still loves her Mimi singing it to her❤💘
Played this in the car when my son was a baby. He would yell Jazzman when it was played 😇
CWBush73.........Now that made me smile!
CWBush73.........Now that made me smile!
Aw, how adorable!
That’s beautiful
Raise him right.
Oh this song takes you back in time. Carole is such a gifted musician it is so wonderful what she gave us. So powerful. Thanks Carole!
This song gives me chills whenever I hear it. Brings back wonderful memories.
I adore Carole King, having grown up when her music was so popular. My husband played in the Jazz Rock Ensemble when we were in high school, and he still plays today. No small wonder that I got a ringtone of this song to play when he calls. 🎼 🎶 🎵 🎷🎤 🎹 ❤️
My goodness. She has always did something to my soul. For 50 years!
Carol King rocks ,with the incredible fuse of funk and blues with a touch of jazz.
There's so many songs about genres, that are actually mainly a completely different genre. Talkin' All That Jazz by Stetsasonic comes to mind -- not a jazz song. At least Jazzman has that throat-scorching sax!
One of a kind!
Tremendous. The legendary Tom Scott was the sax player on the record, and this guy here sounds just as good!
She is beyond wonderful.
Good song
What an amazing woman. She could write 'em and sing 'em. Not many can do that. And she's looks so pretty with flowers in her hair.
I mean, it's a prerequisite for most musicians to be able to do at least that. lol
Cannot describe the beauty in this lady. Wow
Really LOVE this tune, so catchy & jazzy!!!!!
Oh my. I love Janis, Joni, Roberta, Etta, Minnie, and Carly,
BUT......CAROLE KING IS HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE. Thank you for all the
wonderful music you have created over the last 40 years....My personal
favorite is and will always be "JAZZMAN"
I had no idea the role that Carole King played, in the history of music from the era's I grew up in. Composed many songs that other artists made popular. She's a good soul.
mickydogtube...Have You ever heard Some Of Your lovin by Dusty Springfield ? It's one of my favorite Carole King masterpieces.
mickeydogtube She damn near covered a few hits in every genre by the age of 28. 🙌🏽💯🔥
She is an incredibly prolific songwriter . . started in the late 1950's and along with her then husband Gerry Goffin wrote dozens and dozens of hit songs. If you haven't seen the play "Beautiful" and you're a fan of Carole King, it's a must see!!

Every turn around... Play it sweetly... take me down... AWW .,.. Jazzman... Then the SAX... Oh My !!!
Her voice is so beautiful an Sax guy killed it.
There are words worthy to describe this woman's talent and this performance.❤❤. Her finest song of all right here ❣️
My grandson is 13 and plays the saxophone 🎷. I play the piano 🎹. He's my Jazzman! I have listened to Carol most of my life! Thanks ☺️
I bought Carols album in 1972 and this was on it. It became one of my favorite songs and still is.
I wish I could go back in time and go listen in person....
This never gets old!!!
"Lift me, won't you lift me...with every turn around.." Love it!
Wow it's your a beautiful

LOVE THIS, THE MUSICIANS ARE SIMPLY 💯🔝
Always loved Carol King loved this song jazzman ❤❤
I loved this song and bought the single and the album (Wrap Around Joy) in the autumn of 1974. Very good memories for me. Thanks, Carole!
One of my favorite 70s tunes. Sometimes it tears me up.
So Beautiful of a song, that takes me back to the 70s.
What a time it was to enjoy singer, song writers like Ms Carole King!
😊❤️💖💕🎵🎶🎷🎹
Chills. Perfect song. Oh to go back to those awesome 70s. The memories, the music. Such simpler times.
I absolutely LOVE watching her play on the piano!!!!! Her joy, just puts a smile in my soul, forever.
Sounds great completely live. This is one of those songs that has to be played live to feel its full effect (though the studio version is amazing too).
I want to cry, she takes me back to 1975, with her amazing performance, of jazz man, I was 15 year's old!
Brings back memories of hearing this on the radio in my first car, a now classic 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo! Those were the days of incredible music!!!
oh bloody hell, this is so fantastic!
She is so beautiful 😍
Love it Carole king you rock beautiful Lady!..
what an artist and such an under rated song writer.
Masterpiece.. THIS..Jazzman🎷🥰
Damn that woman can sing and has soul, nothing like the crap music out today...oh Jazzman!!
The greatest songwriter woman performer of all time
Carole is truly King.
I'm glad people are starting to rediscover Carole King's wealth of excellent material written over decades. Her many classic songs with Gerry Goffin. He deserves a lot more attention. And of course her several very successful albums most of which has never heard on radio.❤
He has always gotten the attention and respect of his peers!!! We have always known about kings musical genius and goffins impeccable creativity with lyrics. The irony in all goffins interviews he never brings this up,,,,funny isnt it
@@puldspulds5798 Gerry Goffin was never one to lustily boast about himself.
@@stephenspencer4672Gerry goffin talked about so many things in his interviews but he never played the / oh I need more attention card// many people are getting tired of comments on kings solo work about goffin not getting “the attention “. I merely was saying I’ve read and listened to all his interviews he never brings this up. He was always thought of in the highest regard by everyone in the music business. It’s interesting that on any or all posts about goffin people don’t chime in with ( oh what about king) it’s true dear friend through out the music industry the one who performs is usually the one with more attention ,,,,however in this case king always shunned the spot light and rarely granted an interview.
Carol King is a music Legend in her own time ❤
Back when music was real music!
Indeed
Yes, every song was way better back when I was young, and no acoustic instruments are used anymore. Technology is bad.
The 70's was so good for this kind of stuff. Billy Joel, all them... sounded like this. Such a good era.
@Randy Codd You're right. This is when music was really felt in your heart and in your soul
one word..."SWEET"
I had this album. Listened to this song back in the 70s when I was a kid growing up. Had every one of her albums and loved singing to them too!
I love her!
Go on Carole I loved you for many years this is one of my favorite songs from her loved to meet you someday .
Carol was and is one of a kind!
The good stuff never goes out of style. Bleeding Gums Murphy is happy. :)
Love this lady New Orleans
ALL FANTASTIC MUSICIANS!
Indeed!
Pure Platinum
One of the true geniuses of our lifeteime. Love ya CK.
I met this song with the Simpsons, and I loved it, and it is to rediscover the beautiful songs of the 70s, well says homer that the perfection of rock was achieved in 1974
sweet voice, genuine....iconic.
It is scary how good this woman was.
An awesome performance!
Bass player's staccato lines give a great feel to the tune!
It's insane the amount of songs you can hear in a lifetime and if you Google who wrote it, it's usually Carole King 😅
Thank you for posting this!!!
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND
Beyond Great!!
Some talent!
"Jazzman" is an August 1974 song performed by Carole King, from her album Wrap Around Joy. King provided the sheet music for the song, while David Palmer (formerly of Steely Dan) wrote the lyrics.
The song is best known for its lengthy saxophone solos, performed by Tom Scott, while King sings an ode to "the Jazzman" and the effect he has on her.
Curtis Amy, saxophonist, composer, and former musical director for the Ray Charles band, was the "jazz man" of the song.[citation needed]
Thanks for your comment. I had no idea of all the ingredients that went into this wonderful track. David Palmer huh...never knew....now that I do know, it sounds like a track right off of Can't Buy A Thrill...Never Going Back To My Old School has a similar vibe...thanks again!
BOY SHE'S LIKE A ATOMIC BOMB FILL WITH MUSIC
It's music like this that makes it so hard to listen to the radio today - listening to the mindless earworms that Taylor Swift pukes out proves that true talent like Carole's is above most people. Those of us who appreciate talent like this should be proud.
That's right!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
the bass sounds awesome
j'adore cette chanson!
Great song really rocks. The sax solo is so 70s awesome..
Song was used in the Simpsons episode “‘Round Springfield” sung by Lisa with Bleeding Gums Murphy on saxophone.
CK kinda reminds me of Gilda Radner..love this song!🎶 excellent performance!✨🎶🎶
This song make me want to learn how to sax : Love it.
This was actually rock history. I was in the 8th grade but it played on the radio every night.
Not only a tremendous musician and performer, but one of the great songwriters of the last half of the 20th Century....definitely on the same level as Lennon-McCartney, Springsteen, Dylan, Laura Nyro (another forgotten gem), Jimmy Webb and the Dozier-Holland-Dozier team at Motown.
When I was a little boy I would play Tapestry on the family's record player with the big headphones on and think about how I was going to marry Carole King when I grew up.
I loved listening to her way back, and even more so now. What a great writer, performer, and artist. Much love!
She is beyond wonderful
AWESOME!!!!!Is all I Can Say. So Talented!!!!!
Love it!! Her and Carly are so cool and talented. Love the music now especially, but had it on back then as well.
I remember that song in 1974 one good song.
3:28 she is definitely enjoying it! Gave me chills :)
Richard Lawrn
Did you see the one where she jumped on top of the piano? Great video just can’t find it
And that's how that gets done!
carole has got the frizzy blues-remember that clairol commercial
but carole s a supervirtuous woman
