बीजेपी से टिकट कटने के बाद लंबे समय तक पार्टी और चुनाव प्रचार अभियान से दूरी बनाने वाले वरुण गांधी फाइनली पार्टी के प्रचार के लिए आगे आए हैं. अपनी मां और सुल्तानपुर से भाजपा उम्मीदवार मेनका गांधी के चुनाव प्रचार के लिए पहुंचे वरुण ने लोगों को संबोधित किया और अपनी मां के लिए वोट मांगे. आपको बता दें कि भाजपा ने वरुण गांधी की जगह उत्तर प्रदेश के लोक निर्माण मंत्री जितिन प्रसाद को पीलीभीत से मैदान में उतारा है. पीलीभीत लोकसभा सीट से टिकट नहीं मिलने पर बीजेपी सांसद वरुण गांधी ने अपने निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के लोगों को एक भावनात्मक पत्र भी लिखा था जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि उनके साथ उनका रिश्ता आखिरी सांस तक बरकरार रहेगा. 1996 से ही पीलीभीत सीट मेनका गांधी या उनके बेटे के पास रही है.

Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat, next to Amethi, holds significance as BJP's Gandhi candidate is locked in a keen contest with her Samajwadi Party rival Ram Bhual Nishad and BSP nominee Udraj Verma, who threatens to divide the OBC votes of Akhilesh Yadav-led SP.
