- “Chocolate diamonds” are brown diamonds that are not too dark and not too light in color. Brown diamonds were not popular in jewelry until the 2000s. “Chocolate diamonds” was trademarked by Le Vian in 2000 and are now popular in jewelry worn by celebrities, like Rihanna and JLo, and non-celebrities.

Chocolate just another word for poop color....
Look at him struggle to even explain why they’re valuable. He ended up giving us a mini lesson about the benefits of chocolate instead of why chocolate diamonds are valuable.
VIN CENT 🤣😂🤣😂
He was struggling because English isn't his native language.
Yes u are right. Diamonds aren't even that rare. They are really abundant but they keep control of how many are available in market so they can make money
Shaheer Nadeem diamonds aren’t rare, but flawless ones are. Big, shiny diamonds are indeed rare
Diamonds have actual value, but that's mainly because they have many uses in industry and scientific research (diamond drill bits and diamond anvil cells are two examples). Large, flawless diamonds are rare, but diamonds in general are not and that is a huge lie many people still believe.
It's all in the marketing. Just wait for the next "cookies and cream" gravel jewelry.
ItsMeHammie right 💀😂😂😂💀
Mmm delicious lol
I want to see a true blood diamond. Literally
Lmao 😂 delicious 😂😂
😂😂
Even regular Diamonds are a scam but Chocolate Diamonds is the scam perfected.
Well I mean it is hard to mine normal diamonds soooooooo
The only scam is them telling u diamonds is a scam while all the Elite's buy up all the high quality stones and sell u the lab ones
@@IllPayne There is no valuable stone. Just wear gold and silver
Pokoirl YaSe gold, natural pearls and rubies are the legit
@@jaewalker1527 You can create pearls nowadays. And rubies are useless
Common, you obviously named them chocolate diamonds because they're brown... I get it, you tried to come up with a nice story, but let's just face it man, you named them chocolate because they're brown.
Well, actually, I think he's probably telling the truth... he wanted to link these otherwise drab and lifeless diamonds to something that most people like, particularly women if you believe the stereotype, and yes, chocolate can be considered an affordable luxury item. It's pretty damn brilliant, I have to be honest. Cappuccino sounds nice and all, but chocolate definitely sounds more expensive and desirable.
I know right lol
Miranda Lundberg that’s actually a name for them.
It is a marketing masterstroke if it isn't anything else.
And because that's how you fool idiots into buying these overpriced poop rocks.
If they ain't made out of real chocolate, I don't want them
Try out ruby chocolate, it's real pink chocolate!
Same lmfao
i was so hoping they be made of real chocolate, but alas
In this video: A smart jewellers uses marketing to make idiots purchase high margin diamonds. DeBeers has a huge monopoly, they are all worth a fraction of the cost. Invest in gold.
De Beers no longer holds the monopoly position that they once had, though they are still a huge player, but all gem-quality diamond producers today profit from De Beers marketing brilliance in pushing diamond jewellery sales - particularly engagement rings. I would say that gold, like diamonds, has its practical uses but its value also has a large part to do with people simply believing that it has high worth.
@Coconut Pal Blue on silver is a nice combo tbh. I think a sapphire in a titanium tension ring would look pretty nice. I have nothing against jewellery but I think that the marketing of diamonds is a bit deceptive as to their rarity and worth and trying to make it an expected requirement of an engagement to have an expensive ring is quite predatory in my opinion.
@Coconut Pal if you like purity, go either 18k gold or platinum, anything above 18k is too pure, making the gold soft and very easily damagable. As a guy, I prefer 10k for its hardness. Purity isn't always better when it comes to gold, a ring takes far too much wear for something so pure
@@Deathmastertx stick to gemstones and silver, then. Beautiful a.f, smaller pricetag, and can still be adjusted, unlike titanium. If you lose/gain weight, you need a whole nother ring as opposed to just sizing the one you have
"Invest in gold" when that crap is if anything even more useless and overpriced than diamonds? You were going so well until going full stupid in the end, diamonds at least look pretty, gold is entirely useless and easily replaceable by cheap brass and copper...
I worked in jewelry for years and one thing we are taught is to romance people into thinking diamonds are rare but look how many are out there. Just a way to make more money off of the idea of that they're always on so rare to come by. Rare my facets🤗
Nice pun!
😃 rare mu facets, thats goin to stick with me. Might end up in one of my videos
Look at the CEO trying to spin his bs
It was a crappy story... we all know he has no friends.
Quite a punchable face
Chocolate or not, these brown diamonds are very ugly 😅
@Ruby LEE so u like the mix not that you like those brown rocks
And once they run out of the "chocolate" ones, they'll start selling the "almost diamond" rocks that are probably black in color and name it, "ebony diamonds" or maybe "midnight diamonds" or "galaxy diamonds" because it's speckled.
There's indeed black diamonds, mostly for men
The already do, they call them blackberry diamonds.
@Destiny Wilson you will definitely need a diamond pickaxe to mine that one.
They're basically just coals at that point. 😂
@@kgan4733 And they aren't worth very much at all. Black diamonds, called carbonado or bort, are common as far as diamonds come, opaque due to their cryptocrystalline structure, and relatively difficult to fracture (unlike gem diamonds, which, while equally hard at 10 Mohs, are also so rigid that they're very fragile to fracture at certain angles, a property called "perfect cleavage" - black diamonds, being made of interlaced microcrystals instead of a single large crystal, don't have angles of perfect cleavage as the fracture can't travel across the interlacing crystals to break the gem), making them good for industrial use.
Le Vian sounds like he struck out on the mine and decided to fabricate luxury. Diamonds are a scam in general, so its no surprise that luxury influencers just make stuff up about any color of diamond
U here xD
you could say its ridiculously overpriced, but not a scam since you got what you asked for and, not like ink cartridges, they cost a lot to make
To be honest, luxury is fabricated. Human creates/assigns the "value" to things.
“A scam” lol how is that you little snowflake
Yup just like with most things the value of things are not exactly related to its materials and price to make but how societies see them and any fellow that can change how societies view things is bound 2 make huuuge profits lol
At first thought.. i thought rhianna is wearing an edible chocolate diamond
Same but I was disappointed
Same
Lmao yeah 😂
Same
You can't be that gullible
I'm really glad the comments are calling out the diamond industry and the "shit" diamond industry BS
If you think that’s bad you should know that the idea of a ring being worth the cost of a months salary and that diamond is the only gem for weddings was all marketing from da beers diamond company
Chocolate Diamonds are actually just impure diamonds.
And people still buy them. LOL😁
All colored diamonds are impure diamonds
Used to be nothing but grit
Most colored diamonds are impure. Hence the coloring.
Loool yes exactly, anyone who took year 9 chemistry knows this. This is literally the perfect scam 🤣
I’d rather eat chocolate, not wear it. If I can’t eat the chocolate, there’s no point to buying it. Even if it’s a diamond
boi
why do i see u everywhere
Avery The Cuban-American Agree. I remember they introduced these years ago and NOBODY was interested
Well, for some rich persons, they want invest their money or collapse money in real estate or a thing that worth worldwide. Real estate required you tons of paper and rules and it’s kind of invisible item to bring. But diamond or a Birkin can increase value like real estate and convenient to bring with you everywhere. There were many cases about rich persons got scammed to buy diamonds (turned out to be fake diamonds and they lost all money). It’s kind of selfish rich persons especially wives of rich men who want to keep for themselves things that aren’t easily shown on divorced paper.
Oye que tipo de cubana se llama Avery eso es cuento tuyo
I wish I had a friend that bought me artisan chocolates every day after work
Same 🤤
Just know that the "friend" will just be trying to get in your pants.
in an alternate universe, someone took a massive dump in front of his home every day, and thus deuce diamonds were born
Eddie is smirking cause he knows he pulled a wall over dumb consumers eyes but selling the most worthless diamonds for 1000x more than they're worth through marketing.
you spend a lot of money in marketing. The costs of marketing will then add up to the rocks price too
I love how they named it CHOCOLATE diamond. Making it way more fancier
And making my dumb little brain think that chocolate diamonds was actual chocolate
Yeah i remember when they were call champang
Instead of poop diamonds
Like all gem diamonds, they're much more of a triumph of marketing than something rare or useful. Remember that diamond engagement rings didn't really become popular until the 1940s. The idea of spending two months salary on it? Also marketing. In fact, De Beers (who once held a near monopoly on diamond production) originally recommended a single months salary until they realised they could push it to two and make even more money.
@Ryan WilsonLotta men playing into this too. It's an overall cultural thing not just "girls dumb lol".
I don't buy diamonds. I got it for gift all the time...
well, when you think about it, muslims have been offering the girl's father goats (which were very worthy btw, not anymore, but were) for their hands for centuries, some genius just presented it to the western world for the gullible
@Ryan Wilson actually, the movement was entirely directed towards men back then. Nowadays, it is a 50/50 with the evoloution of menswear
"that j-lo likes to borrow" LOL
I prefer sapphires and rubies anytime.
Good for you
rubies are fuckin awesome diamonds are shite
r Negoro I prefer garnet.
I prefer pearls or opal
tbh any gem with a nice vibrant colour are in my opinion more worth it then a plain ol clear or brown diamond
I remembered when I could buy brown diamonds for next to nothing. It would literally be like walking into a store and buying fashion jewelry it is to be that cheap. The sad part is the darker the diamond the more expensive and brilliant they look. The one I really want to get my hands on is a natural black diamond these however are extremely rare and I've been told they can cost more then red diamonds which are priced anywhere from 300k to 2 million dollars.
Nah, they don’t
Red diamonds are still the most expensive
Red is the rarest, brown is the most common
And how do you get people to continue buying when the trend's phased out? By telling them that "chocolate diamonds may become harder to come by" 🙄
Exactly! Same with tanzanites or columbian emeralds or Myanmar rubies 'the mine has to dry up sometime'
My mother used to buy chocolate/champagne diamonds from the US when they were dirt cheap, we live in Australia near the Argyle mine, so people would be all impressed with the amount of Argyle diamonds she could afford. Argyle diamonds domestically were super expensive already here then.
These are industrial diamonds, you can find them in a diamond drill bit
You can find gold inside someone’s mouth, but it’s still gold.
@Wilson tragic, no? At least gold has versatile usage. Diamonds?? Not so much.
Only 30% of the world's diamonds are gem-quality. I can assure you they are not wasting the quality diamonds on industry when the unappealing and near unsaleable 70% of diamonds would otherwise be unused
@@donesk3y Only if you don't count the massive amounts of much higher quality man-made diamonds that are out there.
This actually sucks. Brown diamonds should stay as tools. If they are marketed as"jewelry", then their price rises. Cheap glass cutters and drilling tools will sadly become very expensive.
“The price of these diamonds has rises in the past year” that’s because they control the price and use celebrity to promote it
The real question is : do diamond chocolates exist?
No the don't it's only 3069 not 42069
Kinda hard to chew
Very hard to saw
NO THEY SCAMS TOO 😂
I still prefer the *real* chocolate, still.
Had to rebrand them to get people to buy these turds. No thanks! Don't buy me a diamond - I'd rather have a new guitar or new kitchen equipment!
True!!!! Smart!!!
Every time I hear “chocolate diamonds” I think of chocolate in the shape of a diamond
Diamonds: A masterclass in how to market
Brown diamonds are the cheapest and crudest form of diamonds. The fact that they are sold for such high prices is proof how culture affects the value of luxury commodities
Anton Paulson YUP! Nobody cared about these 10 years ago
When you thought Rihanna was the chocolate diamond 😂😂
We are also running outta chocolate btw
Adele D that makes me sad!
Cravethiscraving Crave www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/996962001 that’s just an example. The “ beans” don’t reproduce fast enough
I remember seeing diamonds 11 years ago back in 2008. I mostly liked them for their unique color and being a type of which was so commonly overlooked. I could never afford getting one, but I never imagined their value would have skyrocketed like I did
"This has been sponsored by Le Vian."
I didn't know Ryan Reynolds works as your voice over.
CZcams: Chocolate Diamond?
Me at 3 in the morning: *did someone say chocolate?*
I live in Western Australia and it was a bit sad when Argyle closed but am also glad they have stopped digging there.
I love the chocolate diamonds.
Brown diamonds are the worst type of diamonds out there.

Chocolate just another word of poop color.....
@Happy Panda u better be trolling coz i laughed way too hard at this xD

Sooo even diamonds are discriminated against!?! 😭can't win🤣

There’s nothing wrong with brown diamonds, but ig people like the brighter ones better. Tbh, I don’t even like the brown diamonds

I remember my grandma wanting this shade of diamond she loved browns, gold and bronzes and so this diamond was right up her alley- so for me I have a soft spot for this color gem
My uncle worked at the Arrgyle diamond mine as security. He also fought in Vietnam and got covered in agent orange.
Argyle diamonds are stunningly beautiful.
so wat does being covered in agent orange have to do with diamonds?
Agent chocolate
Seems a lot of people here don't realise that. I've got 2 I waited 20 years for. I'm more than happy.
The PR is so good and easy to remember. Chocolate is an Iconic dessert.👌
Rihanna loves diamonds
Sang about yellow diamonds in “We Found Love”
Made a song called “Diamonds”
Wore chocolate diamonds to a special event
This is the story of how LeVian seized opportunity from the market blindside. Great product development and branding story.
WTF is Chocolate Diamonds?! i never heard that name before but i saw them, now i know, thanks
Matador Batista well they had to rebrand those boring brown ones.
Apperenty linking them to chocolate worked.
I just really like the art they made from those diamonds :)
These Videos always put a smile on my face :)
If i really need to buy Diamonds right now, i might buy the Argyle Pink. They'll close they're mines in 2020. And the stocks are become rare now.
The way this guy says Chocolate makes my skin crawl
Diamonds and Chocolate...Wow...❤
These are really beautiful
Looks delicious, I wonder how it tastes.
I love the concocted story about how they came up with “chocolate”. I’m not buying it.
Wow. Now i am hypnotized to buy one such wow.. nice try bussiness insider 🤑
the argyle mine edit looked so cool
"fancy" -- uh huh...color me not impressed. Common as dirt. The diamond is propped up by the cartel. Gimme an emerald - deep, dark & clear as a bell. Those are dope. They don't call them money green!
Do people know Brown Diamonds are even cheaper than real diamonds and the term chocolate diamond was created to sell cheap diamonds that dont make the cut
Ralph 187 Exactly
What is the first piece of music called?? I’ve been searching for it ever since I heard it many years ago
I recall in the early 2000 when a friend and jeweler started selling brown/chocolate diamonds and would call every customers a fool for buying one...
You know it’s expensive when the title says ‘so expensive’ twice.
Not me thinking they were made of actual chocolate, and wondering how the heck they didn't melt on rihanna 😆
Smart and brilliant living marketing case. Good job people.

These used to be only worthy of drill bits but this is a testament to good marketing and creating demand for something that is worthless.
Beautiful
Colored diamonds(blue, yellow, brown pink) occur less frequently in nature than white diamonds. I remember reading an article years ago that it can be as many as 1 out of a million diamonds are naturally colored.
Chocolate diamonds are the worst diamonds. They were originally used for industrial purposes. They are a scam
Ok but tell me why they look way more fancy than regular rings and diamonds
The way they shape the jewlery looks fancier they did this perfectly
whats the music used in the background at 4.36
For people who don't wanna watch the whole video: Because it's a monopoly, diamonds are a lot less scarce than people are led to believe, but due to the diamond monopoly of De Beers they control the prices and supply and can therefore make them artificially expensive.
imagine spending thousands of dollars on pieces of glass lmfao
"People think oh yeah they're brown so they called them chocolate" yes that is exactly the reason, i knew everything he was about to say was going to be pretentious bs
Diamonds started and will continue to be one big marketing scheme
I've been using my old typical antique diamonds from my grandmother I still prefer colorful diamonds I still have to see those chocolate diamonds
Diamonds of colour are also beautiful , don't be racist
Diamonds aren’t rare and companies have forced or “created” a shortage to hike prices for customers
anyone knows the composition that is playing in the bkg from 0:00 to 0:29?

Pink Diamond
Blue Diamond
Yellow Diamond
Where's White Diamond?
Usual diamonds are sometimes called white diamonds
HAHAHA “chocolate” diamonds are just low grade diamonds that didn’t pass Clarity test. nice marketing trick!
John P. Yup!
I mean are we stupid or dumb? They just told up they are basically worthless. The jewelers thought on how to get rid of this cheap material, so they literally just SAY they're expensive. There are soo many diamonds around on earth is mind blowing. People should stop buying then.
Pro tip before you buy a diamond ask, how much that same diamond would sell for second hand, you’d be surprised how much there marked up and the second hand price, if you could even sell them, would be far closer to the ‘real’ value.
All diamonds and especially these very common overprized/junk diamonds or what they really are, *industrial diamonds* that marketing has created are the biggest ripoff to take gullible people's money. Nice Scam Le Vian and DeBeer's have going on.
What's next? Soil is gonna be the most precious material?

“Diamonds come in an array of colors..then there are brown diamonds”
Why does this sound weird to me?
The most beautiful diamonds I’ve ever seen
Chocolate diamonds? You mean the old brown diamonds that the diamond companies used to throw away?, but now after they decided to remarket them and sell them for a huge mark up.
I remember the Le Vian chocolate diamond commercials.
I still don't get why they're expensive...
Chocolate diamonds? JESUS WHY ARE DOING THIS, THEY SHOULD BE WORST 1 BILLION DOLLARS!
Why? Because Diamonds, are good. Hey we know. And they could be worth, 500Million dollars. Sure.
But if you have the right chocolate, they could be worth 500Million if they taste right, but..
