I think a key part of these evaluations is to force a switch to a higher vocal range for Ahyeon. She wants to rap which puts her in the lower vocal range. Rappers if they can sing will also sing in the lower range. Clearly, YG wants Ahyeon up in the higher range. This is the 2nd switch for Ahyeon and in both switches, it is to get her to the higher vocal range which clearly she is uncomfortable with but YG wants her at that level.

The best route is group first, and then solo. If you think any of the Blackpink or BTS members could've succeeded as solo artists from day 1 then you're the one who's ignorant. Solo artists who reach the top are a rare breed and should be that way. Hanbin is 10X more talented than Haram and even he hasn't reached the top going solo after leaving IKON.
