Hey guys it's Jake with Lax Weekly and today I decided to highlight the greatest (in my opinion) high school lacrosse game ever. In 2013, the MIAA 'A' conference championship took place between the Boys' Latin School of Maryland and Loyola Blakefield. This legendary matchup included lacrosse's biggest stars like Ryan Conrad, Colin Heacock, the Stanwicks and so many more. I hope you enjoy this lacrosse documentary! 2019 New Jersey TOC finals was something different too.
The way I look at it, this game was pay back for the 1988 MSA championship game between these same two schools. In that case, it was Loyola with the stacked team, including I believe 3 players who became first team all-Americans in college and 3 more on the honorable mention team - some who end up playing professionally. Boys Latin was the underdog that ended up winning.
Even though it's Div 3. You need to watch Massachusetts Maritime vs UMass Boston in their division playoff game on May 5th this year. 21 to 20. Umass won with 8 seconds left. Everyone in the stands, including life long lax players, said it was the best game they ever watch or played in.

Joining Pat Spencer on BL JV in 2013 was a freshman named Logan Wisnauskas. Yup, that’s right, the 2013 JV Lakers who won the MIAA JV title included 2 guys who would go on to win the Tewaaraton. Imagine trying to stop that JV team. Both Pat & Logan moved up to the varsity in 2014 and were on the undefeated 18-0 Lakers declared 2014 National Champs.
Wait a min... 24 d1 commits on one team?! There’s only 10 players on the field! That means 2nd/3rd stringers got recruited to play d1. Wtf!!

I’m a BL grad who unfortunately was there that night for that debacle. The entire 1st offensive midfield group (all members of class of2013) & 2nd offensive midfield group (all members of class of 2014) and the faceoff specialist Hunter Moreland all were Division 1 recruits. The 2014 team was absolutely loaded, they went undefeated in 2014 & were declared National Champs. The 2013 & 2014 teams went a combined 37-1 in the MIAA with the loss to Loyola as the only loss BL suffered in 2 years.

I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was a senior at Loyola and decided to go to the game with a few friends. I remember we went absolutely crazy!

Not sure if you’ll ever see this. But if I can recommend another game for this greatest game series would be the 2014 Bryant vs Syracuse upset. great game and great story. You’re doing great work man. Keep it up.

Private schools are always frustrating, because they are able to gather so much talent from local high schools which can ONLY gather students from their district. The private schools have the opportunity to get students from anywhere.
Yeah for sure! They can really hurt any HS sport like that. I never saw what the fun is when the loaded team is just crushing others. Plus the best way to get better as a player, is to play better teams, but they get their scholarships I guess. Hahaha

Which by default in the world. I remember growing up playing in Florida my teammates would follow their records. We had a powerhouse named St.Andrews who would play MIAA teams and hold their own. This was 10 years ago. St.Andrews won states something like 8 times in 10 years. Once all the club teams in Florida became varsity though it completely changed the landscape of highschool lacrosse here. It's crazy how much it's grown. Sorry for an old man rant lol

The Kraziest part is that Heacock graduated that year but was replaced by Pat Spencer. BL went 18-0 in 2014 and 38-1 for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, collectively!

Sheehan (the oldest) is in broadcasting. Wick (#2) & Coco (#3) followed Sheehan at Georgetown. All 3 are married & have children. Sheehan’s oldest son is a freshman at Loyola HS. Tad (#4 - the oldest son) played at BL & Rutgers, he is now in the special forces. Steele (#5) played at UVA & won the Tewaaraton. Wells (#6) played at BL & Hopkins. Covie(#7 - the youngest daughter played at Boston College. Shack (#8 and youngest) played at BL & followed Wells at Hopkins.
