Kinda fits the ending of Devil May Cry 5 (Mission 20)
Where Nero (son) stops Vergil (father) and Dante into killing each other and repeating the same cycle in which the two never resolve the hate and possibly, ending Sparda's Legacy.
But then Nero took revenge and beat the sense into Dante and Vergil, to cure the "misery" of Dante and Vergil and moreover, Sparda's Legacy.
Oh, I thought it was about Vergil not having memories of Eva looking for him and feeling like Dante was the loved child, which leads to a "just revenge to cure misery".
Holy shit I never looked at it that way, that's pretty cool when you look at it that way. You think they thought of the story that far back? It's crazy to imagine, but I can definitely see Capcom and Hideaki Itsuno doing that. Your thoughts?
You do understand that this song is about Dante, cause he kinda "lost" his memories in DMC3 (it wasn't that perfectly clear if he just wanted to forget all of that or really lost them, but still) and came to see Virgil just for fun.
And about the ending of DMC5 I dunno, it was so hamfisted and the whole theme of "never ending cycle of hate" doesn't make any sense, because Dante and Vergil fought like two times and those times weren't just for the sake of hate (DMC1 Vergil was mind controlled and delusioned, and DMC3 those fights clearly wasn't just for the sake of hate)
Sorry to drop all that to a simple comment, but I hated what they did to the characters and a plot in DMC5, dunno why everyone forgot all the deepness (well uh, that's a strong word Ikr) of previous games.

It was more about resolving Dante and Vergil to move onto Nero. Dante and Vergil very much had unresolved business when it came to family matters; V was such an important character to Vergil's development in this regard as it was in a lot of ways how he was able to reclaim his humanity and his connection to his family. This becomes even more symbolic as V still exists as a part of Vergil's moveset, and all of the torment in the memories that V's familiars are born from.
OP to this thread I think really misses the point that the lyrics are for more in reflection to Dante's original goal in starting a devil hunting business to begin with; to find and kill Mundus who killed his mother. As this was accomplished pretty early on in the timeline, the character development would go on to more focus on the other thread left in DMC1; Vergil. It's all still very much about family, and DMC5 ending like it did where things seemed like they were resolved rather quickly I think reflects a lot more on how Vergil just needed to resolve his own trauma; how he was so quick as to just go and team up with Dante to take care of the miss that was started when he split himself into two.
Arguably, the whole idea that Vergil even split himself into two in the first place is a really deep cut as it physically manifests what was likely his own inner conflict. V, in a much more subtle way, representing how it is that Vergil wanted to connect to his remaining family more. Urizen is... on the nose with how much he shows Vergil's desire for power and how overtime it became much more to get power for power's sake than it was to protect anyone; mostly himself.
If you were talking about Lady and Trish... yeah... they were just sort of... there. A little more could've been done with both of them. What we got was very little. Subtle, and it's there, but hardly much of anything that really develops Vergil or Nero

"From the angst of Lost Memories" - Dante more literally suppressed his memories of Eva's death and his own identity while he went under the alias of Tony Redgrave.
"A just revenge to cure misery" - After 'awakening' (I will not spoil how; you should experience it), he goes on to become an avenger and true Devil Hunter.
This song perfectly defines Dante's character underneath his snark. He's perpetually seething with 'Divine Hate' toward the demons who ripped his family apart.
I just finished Dmc3 and the game has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard on par with Metal Gear Rising

As a native English speaker, that line always confuses me. I think it means something along the lines of "I want to see you suffer" but I'm really not sure. This damn language even confuses people who were raised on it.

Devil may cry 3 got me into so many emotions when i was a kid, Dante was so badass, funny, cool and in the end you could see his human side.. crying for his brother, vergil from dmc 3 was too much, too fucking great for being just a game.. ah, good memories.

For those wondering why it switches to Devils Never Cry partway through, this mix of divine hate is used in the original opening demo loop for dmc3 and was included as a bonus track on the official album as track 56. Track 35 is the version of Divine Hate that plays in game. You can view the original demo loop in the gallery.
One of my best gaming experiences was the moment when Dante gets very powerful and at the same time you learn how to really play with him and suddenly this track replaces the previous battle theme.
It's like the opening 2 haha, the game becomes more easy because now you're the one dominating the game.
Vergil fight 3: where’s your motivation?
The devils never cry alongside any form of rock is the definitive theme over the whole series for me. It's so damn fitting it's not even funny how great they go hand in hand for this series.

I'm in the second Vergil fight and he's kicking my ass. I've lost count of how many times I've lost and yet I'm not pissed at all. I'm just excited because DMC was designed so masterfully that it's entirely your fault when you lose. Every try I keep taking down his health more and more and I'm slowly mastering the combat system.

I love the fact there's 2 battle themes, and that the second one is a smokin sexy bop way more frenetic and violent compared to the first

Best part is that is a prequel to DmC4.And I love that becausr I enjoyed adult Dante way more then I thought I would ,DmC 4 Dante is my favorite,not too serious not too goofy,just the right amount,not too mention that he looks 'devilsihly' charming and I also liked Nero and would love to see his story and character expanded.

These lyrics remind me of Throw it all away lyrics from Sonic Adventure 2.
The first lines of lyrics (in this song they're *much longer* than in Throw it away) sound hellish way similar in, well, how the lines built with how they sound and also voice acting.
And then there starts a chorus part, slow and sad (throw it away somewhat kinda horror too somehow) and also getting more intense after.
and that was 4 years prior
