  • 2500 years ago, Zoroastrianism was the world's most powerful religion and since then it has had a major influence on Christianity, Islam and Judaism. With followers from Freddie Mercury to Nietzsche, many argue that it shaped the world as we know it. Today, it is one of the smallest religions, with around 150,000 followers. How did it lose its power and what does it mean to be a Zoroastrian today?

Zoroastrianism, became the foundation for the organization of major religions, including Islam, Christianity and Judaism. What was a core belief of the Zoroastrian religion? Good and evil were locked together in a cosmic battle for the human race. The most important doctrine of Zoroastrianism was moral dualism, which saw the world as a battlefield between the divine forces of good and evil!!! And this why in my opinion I truly understand that this religion is the realest religion!!

The Three wise men are sometimes referred to as Magi. And a Magi is the term the Greeks referred to Persian Zoroastrian priests who studied astronomy, mysticism and sciences. It's where we get the word Magic/ Magician. But the word Magi literally translates to wise man. Ergo, the three wise men were Zoroastrian priests, and the fact that they followed a star compounds this because of their understanding of astronomy. Hope this helps

Later however, in the mid 3rd century A.D., in the Persian Sasanid dynasty (in Iran) it became more and more complictaed, formal state religeion and lost its positive momentum during the next few centuries. Wow!
In Turkish we use the word 'gariban' for someone who's poor; but in a little bit positive perspective, like the 'meek' in Jesus.
So, that little pocket where Z.'s figuratively carry their good deeds, became a word for destitude in Turkish....

You could say that Judaism was basically co-opted by Zoro and other stories from the region. The story of Sargon=Moses, The epic of Gilgamesh=Noah etc.

Dorood and Praise the religion of wisdom and righteousness, the religion that emphasizes on happiness and prosperity on earth. I see between differences from Parsi’s community and the Persian Zoroasters in Iran. I have a big love and respect for both as they keep our ancesters ways even to this day. The zoroasterian school of thoufht has deep roots in Iranian culture and literature, and even after Arab colonialism to this day, these elements are still very much alive and present in Iranians lives.

At first, I was in agreement with the other comments about his lack of respect. After thinking about it, it seems more like it’s less about what’s respectful, than it is about what’s sacred. He seems like he might have come from a home where boundaries were constantly being challenged, hence his constantly testing the boundaries of the religion. At least to me, it seemed more like an impulse than actual lack of respect.

Extremly respectless reporter and some respectless sound effects as well. Sad that it is ok filming ,a guy without manners in holy spaces, interacting with the people and the faith, the way he did, especially since its a religious documentary from a religious youtube channel.
There is so much wrong with his behavior and a lot of things he said.
Crige and uncomfortable presentation, have seen quite a bit of bad journalism, but personally i feel like this takes the cake.

I think people need to realize that this series is aimed towards teens and young adults. As such, the producers want to make it as "entertaining" as possible. I think the reporter is fully capable of being quiet and respectful. But the producers want to add a bit of comedy by making it seem like he is unable to remain quiet. Though this does seem incredibly disrespectful, we must remember that permission had to be given to even bring a film crew into the ceremony, so the talking segment was most likely fully planned and permissible in this case. I'm not saying whether this is right or wrong, but I really don't think the reporter is to blame for his actions. He is just following a script.

Wow, I am blown away by the negative comments coming from the followers of this faith. It gives me the impression that these people are extremely prideful, arrogant and judgemental of anyone that they consider inferior to them for not understanding their fate and asking questions. That's why it is written that the last will be the first and the first will be the last, that is if their arrogance and pride doesn't cause them to fall past the point of redemption.
