I am the LEGACY of These PHENOMENAL women and the mother of Brianna Anais, my daughter, my LEGACY and sister in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Each day I wake up GRATEFUL that I am able to share the wisdom, insightfulness, and integrity of women who have served their community collectively for over 325 years. As a girl who has newly learned of the divine 9 and am starting my research into these beautiful organizations. I just want to thank you for continuing to give me more positive things to know and learn about with these organizations. Thank you you two specifically for just being amazing black women ❤️

I am Loreal, the daughter of Pamela, who's the daughter of Demaris, who's the granddaughter of Lonnie. They taught me the power of my own strength, to look within, believe in myself, and never forget my personal relationship with my higher power. Three very strong women who continued to lift each other up from generation to generation, from life lessons that they learned along the way. I am proud to say that I was chosen to be apart of their legacy!
Thank you so much for sharing this conversation from these marvelous and phenomenal women. I am aware that some women have had the catty experiences from women who look like them, but we have more unity than our few bad experiences. I love how these four sorority leaders love on each other for the greater good of unity. Let us all start being part of the solution toward true sisterhood and unity. 💗💚 Love to all my brown sisters across the globe.

I am the daughter of an African American woman who was a domestic who some how took care of 3 children on 5000 a year. A woman who let us know that even if society deemed you less than, not equal, you were more than, you are worthy, you are an important member of society. My mom, believed in a gender neutral household. My mom, Christine Cowan, who wore an Afro all my life, was the daughter of Lucille Bond Cowan, who worked at Southwest College, now Rhodes College, in housekeeping. Mom and Mama Dear stressed education and participating and engaging in voting. You better not say that you weren't gonna vote. I am her daughter and her granddaughter. 💕💕💕💕
I watched this entire thing! Im college now, and i wish i could go to an hbcu, unfortunately its just not realistic for me right now, but im still hoping to join a sorority when i go❤❤❤

I am Adahlia, the daughter of Crystal, who is the daughter of Harriet, who is the daughter of Helen, what my mother has taught me is to have self-confidence, love for others, and learn about the history of my people.💕
I am Carrie, the daughter of Dorothy, the granddaughter of Carrie, the great granddaughter of Susie and the great great grand daughter of Mary. This is a wonderful conversation, but we are still not as sisterly as these Presidents say it is for every member. I have been a member, active,, of one of these Soririty for 40 years. Only because of God have I been able to try to stand courageously in all of my experience. No, Black woman don't all help and support each other. We do it in the Sorority, too. We do need to create our own narrative, but with and in truth. "The truth sets you free". Being truthful and helping other is what my mother and grand mother exemplified for me.
@Carrie Harris, I agree with you completely, and agree that that conversation needs to be had. I would hope that no one is trying to pretend that none of those things happen. The internal conflict between women, and even our own black community, is a sad state. We have to counter the narrative that is being pushed out there about us as black females, and we have to present ourselves in positive lights just as many times, if not more, than the negatives. We are human beings, so we definitely fall short often. I think we just have to remember the the humanity in being human! Peace and blessings.

My name is Allyson Jones, and I am the daughter of Jean Hollins Jones, granddaughter of Eva Mae Castex. My maternal lineage - along with my aunts - taught me what it means to be a lady in the best of times and the worst of times...I may, sometimes, fall short, but I strive to do so! My mother and I are proud members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and I am very proud of these beautiful presidents representing all of these great sororities! I am sincerely sorry that Zeta Phi Beta was not able to celebrate their centennial this year. I hope you are able to celebrate at some time in the near future!
