  • I bought this notebook so I could try out Tomoe River Paper, because as a growing user of fountain pens I had to see what all the noise was about! Well, I understand now, and I'm pretty happy I met Pebble Stationery Co too.
As you would expect, this 52gsm paper ghosts, occasionally bleeds, crinkles when you use too much water, but hey, why would we care, when it brings out all the best characteristics of our fountain pen inks. Check out my review, which has an extensive fountain pen and fountain pen ink test to see what I'm talking about.
You can see detailed specifications for this journal on my website theusefuljournal.com/product/..., where you can also compare this notebook to other notebooks suited to fountain pen use.

Love your detailed reviews, and especially appreciate the effort you make to look into social and environmental responsibility.
Also, your accidental ink blob turned out to be a great rorschach test. Results for different people in my household:
    1) a ballerina doing a high arabesque
    2) a can-can dancer doing a high kick
    3) a tiny person riding a sea horse

Thank you! It's so nice to hear someone likes hearing the social and environmental responsibility bit - I've hardly had anyone give feedback on it, but because it's important to me I keep on doing it. I love the rorschach test results ❤️, I can see all those images!

Not a fan of notebooks with Tomoe River paper (ghosting makes me unhappy), but I found really small ones (less than a6) and I cut the pages to write notes that I glue in my journal (with washi tape or non-permanent glue-tape) to make very luxurious, fountain-pen written post-its (the inks look sooo pretty 😍) that have the additionnal advantage to be so thin they're almost undetectable on the other side of the page.

Yep - this is exactly why I don't give ratings for journals because everyone has different things they want out of a journal. So I just focus on giving all the information so people can make up their own mind. I love the idea of writing on the Tomoe River Paper then sticking it in your journal. That's one way to show the beautiful sheens of different fountain pen inks without having to use a separate little journal. I might have to use that idea!
