  • In trying to reach an island gravel bar to hunt for agates, Kate misjudges the current's speed and takes a little trip downriver. The only thing that was in any REAL danger was her phone - but both she and the phone ended up safe on the island, ready to hunt for fantastic Montana agates, petrified wood, beautiful jasper and the peace of mind that comes with rockhounding. Come along!

Great finds. Stay safe, rivers can be dangerous fast.

A good walking stick can really help in those situations, take it from an old fly fisherman who fell into the river far too frequently over the years. Love the big glowy one at 7:30.

This video broke my heart. In my head I was like no don't leave the rocks take them, they need a home please don't leave them.

Kate, love your rock hunts. I've fallen in the river looking for treasures many times! Worst was in the winter, very cold water. My directionally challenged Malamute was always tethered to me so she could explore but not get lost chasing wildlife. She saw a bunny & took off, so of course, I fell. She proceeded to drag me down the bank & into the cold water. Very short rock hunt that day. I started carrying a potato hoe 3 years ago & the 3 points of contact really helps with balance, reaching deeper, and scraping.

I ALWAYS love your adventures. Happy to see your content. You have helped this rookie rockhound a lot. And I can’t thank you enough 😊 absolutely beautiful fines. I go rockhounding when I’m stressed, happy & most importantly for exercise.
Not sure if you’ve ever tried the sprayer I’m going to describe? But I love mine. I found out about him through my nieces, that show hogs and they use the sprayers for many different reasons. I found the same sprayers they used just different name different brand at the Home Depot. It’s actually in the weed sprayer area. They’re bigger than a spray bottle that you would use in your kitchen to clean with or for rockhounding but much much smaller than a weed sprayer. Probably a bit smaller than a 1gallon weed sprayer. A small palm pump that you only have to pump once it runs out of pressure. Never have to worry about replacing batteries.

Thanks for the hunt by the river. Please tell me where it is so I can go there and pick up some of the rocks you left behind.🤣

LOL, I also found out that if the river current drags your shins across rocks, the rocks win.
