This one of the greatest nights of my life. 15 years as a fan and I finally can say I saw them. At one of the best festivals around.
Came all the way from Alaska for this.
Dude, I flew from Sacramento to Chicago with my girl friend/best friend now at the time just to see Blink and Brand New! I was there all 3 days and this was the best night of my life too!!
I got into Blink in 8th grade when I was 14. I'm 19 now. Not being able to live through the prime of Blink-182 is extremely upsetting. But getting to see them for the first time live in my hometown Chicago and watch people in the crowd reminisce over their childhoods was one of the most memorable nights of my life. At least I got to see the Mark, Tom, and Travis show before they broke up just recently. I love this band. They changed my life.
Same age as you man and I'm also from Chicago and saw them at this show. It sucks but you never know what can happen.

Was anyone else close to the stage during this? There were so many people pushing people had to be dragged out and were suffocating because it was so tight. The craziest show I've seen blink play, just because I thought I was going to die.

chuglife57 - I was in the far back for this and when I tried to get closer people were actually blocking me from going forward, but I get that there was no room. I'm a fan of punk rock so pop punk is still relatively new to me in terms of the energy of the shows and crowds, but the crowd at this show really turned me off to seeing Blink 182 live.....they were really rude and stingy when I just wanted to get a decent view of the stage.
Most punk shows I've been to, the crowd has always been friendly/brotherly and will push you forward if you want to get closer or be in the pit, and will sing with you if you make eye contact because we're all there to have fun. Most people I tried to vibe with at this show gave me dirty, weird looks when I tried that, and were blocking me from going anywhere even if it was away from the crowd or pit, and a lot of them gave me attitude for just trying to get through. And I'm a veteran punk rocker so I know the difference between people messing with you just because it's fun vs. being real assholes for no reason.
I noticed that a lot of the crowd was younger (I'm 28), like in their mid to late teens, so maybe that's why they seemed like immature children who get butthurt when you push past them trying to get through...but I don't think that should matter. I actually love rocking out with the younger punk generation, and most of the younger crowds at shows like Streetlight Manifesto, Bad Religion, Less Than Jake are all super cool and won't get mad at you for trying to get forward.
That's just me and my opinion though, and I don't mean to offend any younger people here but part of what makes a show awesome is not just the band's great performance, but the great crowd to bond with....this show didn't have it for me. It's like people were more concerned with having the best spot to see Blink while saying fuck anyone trying to get in their way. :(
+Colin Breen keep in mind that's not the usual blink 182 crowd. That was a mix of people who came to see different bands of different styles through the day. I've seen blink and other pop punk bands live more times than I can count and other than this performance, everyone has been amazingly friendly

+Colin Breen Been to all 3 of their shows in chi since the reunion. This one was different, it was a huge crowd and it was all GA, vs the other ones that it was sectioned off. So no one in your section had a particularly better view than anyone else nor the option to get one. Here there was and everyone wanted to get it, and you know there are people who are like well if I can't get up here by working my way I'll just push my way up there.
I made concert friends at this one actually, they were awesome. A guy, his gf and, their friend who was a girl. I just remember the guy and I were trying to stop the girls from getting knocked over. There were some times where it was hard for us to stay up. They were smaller girls so we tried to stop the big pushes from getting them hard. Not unexpected, but the amount of them, how big they were getting definitely was surprising.
If you get the chance to see them at a more traditional venue and one more capable of the crowd: totally awesome.
I was there in person.. Still watching in 2016, that's how kickass of a show it was

best concert experience of my life. been a blink fan for almost 20 years. They are my favorite band ever. So glad i got to see them before Tom was booted. I almost died but it was so worth it. got to hang out on the side of the stage next to mark while i drank 5 water bottles and listened to violence up close and personal. Wish i could go back to that night!!!

usually blink plays arenas in the US and the pits in front of those stages are much smaller than this. This was European style festival general admission. Blink are a big band but even the organizers of riot fest underestimated the amount of people that would stick around to watch them. It was insane. I heard there were 50,000 people there the whole day. im guessing their were probably 20,000 that stayed for blink. thats a lot of bodies.
Dude ! At one point I was on the grass! Bodies flying on top of me and I was like HELP! HELP! someone get these bodies off of me!
This show was a trip down memory lane for me. Q101's Twiztid X-Mas 7 was the first time I saw them back in '99. (Who else remembers that sh*t?) So glad that 14 years later I can say I saw them rock Chicago out. Perfect blend of old hits and new stuff. Thanx for the great video man.
I love the way they perform 'violence' nowadays, they should re-record it with their new additions for their next album.
I was there. Blink has been my favorite band since I was like 14 and I'd never seen them live. I remember I had this weird feeling that it'd be my last chance to see them. I'd never seen them before and they'd gone through my home town (St. Louis) twice since they'd got back together and I couldn't go either time and I was really bummed about it. So I had to make Riot Fest happen that year. And I did. Seeing blink was the best night of my life (I enjoyed the whole weekend, Riot Fest is awesome, but...blink). If they keep going with Matt Skiba, I'll probably go see them again and it'll probably be pretty great, but...will it be the same without Tom? At least I can say I got to see blink with the lineup they're most known for. I'm so glad it happened.

they did play family reunion at the end idk why they cut the video early, and yeah it was crowded but I still managed to get to the front despite getting to the set late, it was a funnnn kickass day being there so many good bands

Everyone chirps Tom but he's on par here and I think its Mark thats more flat most the show and has like no enthusiasm in his singing. Still amazing show!
I wouldn't want to see a band play their whole set list exactly like it's being played on a cd. That's why I like blink live, they change the words, they'll sing differently, speed up/slow down parts. They both sound pretty good here. They'll getting kind of older now, they don't jump around anymore lol.

I'm the silhouette with the glasses on at the bottom left at 1:00:04. This show blew my mind. I flew all the way out to Chicago from Sacramento with my ex-gf/current best friend. We made our way from the back of the crowd to the front within the hour they played and by the time we got to the front, I had to get out because I was overheating. This show was CRAZYYYYYYYYYYY.
Man I wanted to go see them in Chicago so bad. I'm definitely going to their next concert.

the only reason tom sounds different is because hes focusing on two different things at once when he was younger he focused more on his voice that's why it sounds better back then and his guitar playing was bad. now hes flipped

I was there too, and i agree. Blink is my favorite band and has been for years but i think they're afraid to say anything too serious or it might make them break up again. I guess they just have to deal with it lol it sucks but i rather him sound like this than break up

My best friend and I flew up from Houston to see this. We saw blink and brand new within the same weekend. Fucking incredible. We also witnessed a guy get a knife pulled on him at this show by a fat dude in a camo vest.
