  • Pete Moore reckons, this is Bergara's most shootable and tough hunting rifle yet and just loves that camo stock

Well apart from the obvious weight difference, it has been said that CF insulates more, so a barrel takes longer to cool down, but on a hunting gun that's academic as you're not firing that many shots at any one time. The real thing is the price, as in the majority of cases a CF tube is a lot more expensive than steel, with only Bergara having a near identical and cost effective price tag.

Good to see you reviewing, have subbed to the channel . Curious to know if any of the manufacturers test with hunting ammo as this Bergara is a hunting rifle or at least to my thinking ? Would be encouraging to hear/read guaranteed sub MOA using non match ammo, is this possible or is it not worth it from a costing perspective? My S20 6.5 is giving me 1/3” MOA with S&B Blue 120’s @ 100m’s and Federal Power Shock 130’s 0.203” MOA @ 100m’s which I’m glad as it saves me going down the reloading rabbit hole 😅.

Thanks for subbing, always appreciated. I think that most sub-MOA claims are done with match ammo, as if it shoots tighter, they are getting their message across. After all it's not a lie, also I think cost is a factor. Some sweet groups there. Even though I still reload, I have found some factory fodder for my 8x57, 243 and 308 that shoots very well and it does stop the rabbit hole effect, problem is mine now a warren.

I currently have a Bergara itch that I need to scratch and this thumbhole carbon in CM is on the shortlist. Only because I can’t afford a Bergara Elevate!

Yeah, fair bit of difference between £1500 and £3500, that's the curse of carbon fibre.

Which barrel is better: Wilderness Thumbhole Steel or Wilderness Ridge Steel? What do you recommend?

I would guess they are both the same, being both all-steel construction.
