It’s a complete conflict-of-interest problem for anyone to be owner or part owner of an NFL team and be in the media that covers the sport, in any form, as well. I can’t believe the NFL is even considering allowing it.

It's a shame that someone who's never even broadcasted a single game is taking FOX's number 1 slot from a guy in Olsen who has pretty much proved to be one of the best color commentators in the past decade
They did the same to Phil Simms when CBS brought Romo aboard, although not quite the same as Simms got re-assigned to the studio (a role more suited for him).

I can never understand how someone talking about football 17 to 22 times for only an hour on average per game is worth 30+ million a year. It's gross!
You might be thinking. "Football games are about 3 hours long though!" True, but if you remove all the commercials and all the other stuff that doesn't
have anything to do with the actual game it drives the actual game time down to only about an hour. Many of us out here struggling to even get a dollar

Firstly the preparation for games is part of the work, which is many hours per game.
Secondly it is worth 30 million if they will make more than that by having him there. In fact it makes sense.
Thirdly, it’s not scripted, they could never keep a secret that big. Thinking it’s scripted is a truly childlike view.

I can easily tell you what a catch is. The rules really haven’t changed much about it since my own playing days. The wording may be different but a catch hasn’t changed. It’s perspective that impacts the call, as with many calls in football.

Don't feel bad.. I've been watching for 20 years and I can't tell the difference between plays (ie screen play, play action etc)
First, no commentator needs to be talking about a league in which he has a business relationship with one of its teams.
Second, Olsen never should have signed a contract that allowed him to be demoted without being bought out or allowing him to be released. (He may have the right to demand a release, but no one has a richer job available right now…).
Fox has almost no risk here. If Brady is a complete trainwreck, they can stick him on pre-game and promote Olsen again.
