- How-to-VoiceOver ft. Why Am I Shirtless?
Step 1:
Finding a quiet room is as important as getting a good mic.
Shut windows, doors and fans or fridges to create the quietest space.
If you clap and can hear a long tail, the room is too reverb-y.
Climb under a blanket to record.
-
Step 2:
Get a good USB Mic.
If you can’t afford one, don’t underestimate how good your phone mic is!
You can get decent, cheap ones by JBL, Blue Yeti, Snowball, and Maono.
Find a pro one by Audiotechnica, Rode, Shure or Samson
-
Step 3:
Recording & Monitoring
Record into Audacity (free software), or GarageBand if you have a Mac.
Important to have decent headphones to hear how the sound really sounds. If you can’t afford these yet, most wireless earphones today are good enough quality.
Step 4:
Apply equalizer, compression and de-noising (if you’re a pro!)
This is the audio equivalent of colour correcting your film. Boost tasty frequencies and reduce undesirable ones.
Learn this on CZcams, or DM me for a lesson.
Otherwise, hit me up to make you a custom vocal chain.
I’ve made these for @danielmambaodoi @rocioromerootero @yep.that.malcolm
