One reason to turn on the option to only unlock the drivers door instead of all 4 is for safety reasons. I know many woman turn that on as they want to control access to the car when entering the car in a parking garage or areas at night.
My wife tried if for that reason for a while but ended up turning it off. Drove her crazy
I am not a woman. I had it on in my ICE car and now in Tesla. Same reason I have pin to drive. These are two simple features that take a second more. As for unlock only drivers door, I use watch for Tesla and Tessie so it’s easy enough to open any door or trunk from my wrist regardless of unlock driver door only setting is. Also those 3rd party apps actually allow you to unlatch any individual door! The Tesla app doesn’t even have that option! The regular Tesla app only let you wanna watch the driver door!
Thank you, Cody. That was an excellent summary of the setting. I’ll share it with new and existing owners.
Great videos Cody! I keep the driver door unlock only feature for my wife who gets in her car in a dark public garage at night so no one can jump in the passenger seat...just helps her feel safer.
Great info/video, well presented! Thanks!
Love your videos Cody! Thanks for these insights and tips. Always useful. Keep up the great work!
Thanks will try
Hi Cody, thank you. Very clearly presented, no faff, to the point, clear and easy to understand - even for this +70 year old planning his first EV purchase - Tesla Model Y of some sort! Any chance of a downloadable pdf? Just one point, battery setting is not available with LPF battery packs - it's ok, indeed recommended by Tesla, to charge to 100%. Most fully auto driving functions are not yet legal over here and so are disabled.
Good video for Newbie and Senior citizen.😊 thanks
Good one Cody. Been a Tesla owner for 5 years, missed some of these when they were added during that time. Thanks a bunch! 👍
Awesome!
You are doing an Awesome Job of presenting Tesla software options and features
Thanks, great video !
Glad you liked it!
Hi can you please recommend best winter/snow setting for the model y longrange
Good stuff. I've had my Model 3 for less than a week, a lot of this I've figured out but now I'm going to go out to the car and play with it some more.
I do have auto high beam turned on, and was surprised at how well it works. I was also driving along, a light rain started falling, and I realized the wipers were on even though I hadn't done anything.
ThankU!
Welcome
This is an excellent summary and some things I didn't realize were there since updates.
I have an LFP battery that says in the app to charge it too 100% weekly. Normally I wait until 20% and then charge it to 100% and that's usually once a week most times. However, lately it's been twice a week. I've recently noticed my range go from 272mi to 268mi within the last couple weeks. I'm wondering if it should only be charged to 100% once a week and maybe charge to 80% other times. What do you know on the subject of charging LFP batteries?
This was the most useful video I have watched for a new y.
Sweet!!! Please follow the channel!
I prefer to confirm the lane change because my MYP changes lanes from a perfectly fine moving lane into a slower moving lane behind a trailer. It also ignores that there is an upcoming freeway exit a quarter mile away and instead of changing to the right lane it will change to the left and never has a chance to go back. After missing many exits, I cancel any unnecessary lane changes.
I was so pumped for FSD and still can't believe automatic lane changes are so dumb. Woof.
Yea some people do feel that way. I totally get it. I find it works most of the time the way I want so I have had it off for quite some time.
@@robojobot77 If I'm going to get off of the freeway in a mile or two, FSD will still change into a faster lane to pass someone, that's so dumb!
@@CfTesla 2022 MYP with up to day software (FSD) does not have an option to confirm, I have to disengage to cancel a land change.
Two questions: why did you skip over “Joe mode” and do you recommend having front fog lights on (which I noticed you do)? By the way, because you asked,I do use auto high beam.
As I mentioned in the beginning of the video this was just "my" top recommendations. There are a ton of settings I didn't go over just the ones I feel must be used. Joe mode is a preference setting so if someone finds the volume of the alerts etc annoying they are welcome to use it.
What software version do you have?
What software are you using
Great video, thank you. I would like to know how do you get to see all the 4 cameras under live camera, I can only see one at a time. Please share if you know. Thank you.
Swipe up on the screen
As I ready to order my first Tesla, I saved this vid. This stuff is gold!
Congrats! Fun times ahead
for security, don't put your actual home address in the system, rather, put an address a block or so away. That way if stolen and thief navigates to "Home", upon arrival, pressing a garage door open button, will not give thief access to your home.
Very helpful! Be sure to list what firmware these settings apply to.
Good point.
I just subscribed my God your channels been helpful. Keep doing what you do brother this is an amazing CZcams channel.❤
Wow! Thanks for those amazing…and uplifting…words.
@@CfTesla no thank you 🙏🏻 brother for all your helpful information as a new first time Tesla owner I have already learned so much.
I personally disabled "Exit Passing Lane", not because I'm a tool that hangs out in the passing lane, but because way too many times it'd move right when another car was about to be passed. This just makes for a bunch of awkward back and forth lane changes.
Another easy way to turn on “minimal lane changes” is to toggle right steering wheel button to the right while in a drive. This will give you a pop up menu on the screen to turn it off for the current drive.
Is that on FSD? I think that may just be on non fsd models. I could be wrong.
This doesn't work for every vehicle firmware update.
@@CfTesla yes I'm on FSD. However, the pop-up menu is titled "Autopilot settings" so I assumed it is available to all cars whether FSD is purchased / engaged or not. But it also has the FSD setting for chill/average/assertive on the same menu so maybe it is FSD-specific.
I don't use auto high beams because they don't activate until you hit at least 25 MPH, I drive down some dark, unpaved roads to get home, and they won't come on since I have to drive at about 15 MPH for safety.
Good point
Thanks. You can swipe right on the navigate card to take you home.
i love auto High beam and it even saved me a few times because it turned off a few times with no cars in sight but there were Deer on the road .
Great video. I like and use auto high beams. Mine work great. As soon as another car is spotted driving towards me or one is in front of me it turns off. You may need to turn them back on as there may have been some improvements since you last used yours
For the driver door unlock only. I don’t use it but because I’m the only person riding in my car 95% of the time I don’t see it being that much if an issue unless I’m frequently placing something I.e. a gym bag in the back seat each day then yes it may not be the setting I would choose unless my surroundings required me to be more cautious
My auto high beams actually work perfectly 99% of the time. I say 99% because nothing is perfect but I have to say, in 25,000 miles of driving, never once has auto high beam turned on at a point where it would bother other vehicles. I also hear others complain about it, so my theory is that the algorithm is perfect, but maybe only a few tesla cars have all their sensors working properly as they are designed to. This would indicate that there is a wide range of acceptable calibration levels that pass the approval tests when Tesla builds their cars. I just got lucky. Even my auto wipers work correctly almost all of the time. (But my auto wipers are more like 90% perfect as opposed to 99.9%)
@@42bill how long have you had your car? I found auto high beam trash when I first got my car almost 2 years ago but its about 99% great now
@@jmunt got mine in the beginning of 2022 and I have 25,000 miles on it now. Almost everything has improved with so many over air updates.
I just turned on Child Lock for the rear windows. I found that when I rest my left hand/arm on the left door handle it sometimes opens the rear window(s). Just a thought.
1:35 Cody, I cannot tell you how many CZcamsr instructional videos that I've watched about settings where they are so clueless that their profile says "easy entry" when they are showing what settings to use and then they wonder why when they are driving that their new settings are not working! I have written people so many times but I'm usually ignored.
I turned automatic emergency breaking off because phantom breaking was really messing up my Tesla insurance score. I still have some phantom breaking, but it seems to be less of a problem. Does anyone have other suggestions?
I use auto high beam. Idk if it's real or my standards are just lower lol but I have found auto high beam to be a lot better for me in the last few months so I've been using it again. Plus you can push the stick one way to force it off (or toggle auto back on) and you can hold it the other way to force it on while its being held, so in those rare cases its not doing what I want I can still force it. But I only touch it maybe once per drive on average, which is way way less than manual
Can you do a video on how to change your drive pin? 😅
lol
I always use auto high beams it works great for me so I don't need to worry about anymore. It will turn on high beams when other cars aren't near and will turn off when another car is near
I feel like this works about 80% of the time. I still found myself intervening now and then.
How did you changed the color of the battery % to blue 7:48 , and the on/off button to purple?
Bad color, notice that the bluetooth icon is purple
regarding the record on honk. If you have a situtation, where you need to honk multiple times, does that erase the initial recoirding? What happens with multiple honks without having the record on honk? Can you give a voice command to record video?
I am not sure of the exact interval at which it starts another recording but I was told if you do it fast three times for example it just records one. My car does not record video with voice commands.
The voice command is “Record”
Just and FYI. Model 3's and I think Model Y's (also) which have LFP batteries are recommended to fully charge to 100 per cent, which is different from lithium ion batteries in older versions and in Model S and X.
How did you get the car to show as purple? Looks really cool.
Check the toy box, or whatever it’s called.
What he said below
Mine always take the longest possible route. You would think it will correct itself after going the shorter route 37 times? But nahhhh!!!
I am a new Tesla Model 3 owner and I am already super familiar with the car. What I don't understand is that why during driving the Tesla does those small, non alarming beeps for "no reason". I disabled the green light warning but it still happens. I remember today when I was waiting for my left turn and cars to stop coming after passing the signal, when it was free I did go but my Tesla made a small beep and I still don't know why. It was perfectly safe and free.
If your normal use was say 20% usage, you could easily set charge limit as low as 50 to 70%
One thing I must ask is how did you screen record a Tesla screen?
He shows you in one of his video. He installed a special screen with an hdmi out. Dedication!
As mentioned below I paid to have a tesla screen modified with an HDMI output
Re: Avoid tolls… Yeah, I don’t use that.
I live in Sacramento and often go to San Francisco. If that toll setting is on, the car routes me on an incredibly long route around the Bay Area, through San Jose, making a normal ~90 mile trip into more like a ~180+ mile trip, just to save two bridge tolls.
Money, I can always make more. Time, not so much. I’d rather pay the tolls.
YMMV.
Sentry mode on is a battery killer
What is toggle for headlights after exit ??
Pull light stalk toward you, option will appear on screen
Or you can set option in lightening on option screen
Keep on headlights for a little while after you leave…like in a very dark area or raining ☔️
Thank you for answering my question I thought it meant " exit " like exit ramp on highway 🤣 now it makes sense 👍🏻
13:50 the Sentry has no way of discerning a merely-potential threat from an actual threat. Why would I want it to make loud noise for what will be a false positive 99% of the time?
Not sure how their algorithm does it. That is what the manual says
WTF. I am from Europe and i dont have the regenerative braking option. I heard they removed it 2 years ago? Is this an reupload?
Just swipe the navigation bar right, and it'll navigate home.
⚡⚡⚡🧙🏻♂
From a security perspective never input your home address into the navigation system. Input an address that’s a block or two away in case your car is compromised so that the bad guys can’t use that information to come back later to your house when they know you’re not home.
Hope you are not good friends with your neighbor lol
@@AlmostOffline always keep your registration and insurance papers in your wallet never in the glove box. Very dangerous practice. Identity theft is on the increase. Be careful!
@@AlmostOffline that's why you set a PIN for the glovebox (and a PIN to drive perhaps)
