    Thanks so much for this video on Chevy p0300. I have a 99 chev 5.7 liter and my engine and I have been at this for months. After watching your video and having heads that are only a year and bit old, I feel that this may be the cause and heads may need adjustments.
    If you have any other advice please reply.
    God bless

    Hi very informative video. Chevy Avalanche 2007 5.3L. I have multiple misfire codes and the only thing i did was to disconnect X2 connector on the ecm (for a knock sensor issue (high input) to check cable connectivity). Now connected back i am having these codes. Any suggestion on wiring check? Previously i had no issues.

    My 2010 Silverado has the 5.3 it runs rough, surges but the problem I can't figure out. If I have to accelerate quickly, it surges. About every 15 seconds or so. If I'm running 40 mph, it will rev and jerk forward. But if I shut the engine off and start again, it stops. I feel like this will tell me what the issue is.

    I have a 2011 yukon with P0301 code, also showing service stabilitrak and service traction control. Changed the plug, wire, and coil on cylinder 1, still shows code P0301. Changed the rest of the spark plugs and wires, pcv valve (tubing), which was broke.. and no change. Do I need to have codes reset in the truck? Or bad injector? Bad crankshaft position sensor? I'm $300 into this issue already with no fix!

      The intake gaskets leak on these as well and can cause misfires. Very common.

      This is usually an AFM lifter that has spun or collapsed. There are some quick fixes or you can delete the AFM system. Did you resolve the issue?

    could a bad brake booster check valve cause p0300?

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  Před 3 lety +3

      It could, and the misfires would be random. Also a lean code would probably set as well.

    P0300, rough idle after a minute or so, no check engine light on. Coil? How can I test the coils?

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  Před 3 lety +1

      If it has a rough idle while cold, it could be intake gaskets. They will soften when the engine is warm and reseal, causing no issues. We have seen that many times with these. Normally a coil would cause an issue with just one cylinder, since you have eight separate ones. It’s rare to see more than one coil dead at a time, but I suppose not impossible.

      @@AutoScholarwithMrB so I bought a spark tester and checked all the plugs/coils on the driver's side, the light is flashing pretty good on each one so I'm getting good spark, could there still be a bad one on the passenger side that I havnt checked yet?

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  Před 3 lety

      @@yoz1967 it is possible, but it could be injector issues or intake sealing issues.

    I’ve got a question I got a 2008 Chevy 5.3 we changed out we did a lifter job because we had a couple complex lifters come back. The engine was running fine ended up with a misfire changed a couple O2 sensors on bank one and bank two and we’re still having a misfire on cylinder 35 and seven changed injectors, got up another pick up and change the whole injector rail everything everything was the same replace them steel had a misfire on the same three cylinders we’ve done checked coil, pack, swap, cold packs. We got new new, spark, plug, wires, new spark plugs, and we still got that misfire on them three cylinders compression test compression all left bank is at 160 between 160 and 180 so are compression is good or can you give me an idea of what I need to go next?

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  Před rokem

      I have seen camshaft lobe damage on these and it will not open the valves enough. Also intake gaskets can fail.
