Grouse shooting on North York moors

On the site of the old coach house 'Hamer' in 2016 , one thousand five hundred grouse were shot on one bird drive

Grouse are not bred for shooting, they are all wild birds. The most that the gamekeepers can do is control predators, within the law, and promote the growth of fresh Heather by controlled burning of small patches of old Heather.
