    • 2024 6.6 V8 Gasser vs....
Bringing in several different view points of the trucks from different prospectives is fun. Here a professional driver gets behind the wheel of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500 L8T V8 gasser with the 10 speed Allision transmission. He then hops behind the wheel of the 7.3 Godzilla to see if the Ford F-250 is better or worse or are they both good in many ways, watch and see. Don't forget to subsribe, great content coming on both trucks.

Super interesting! I see a lot of guys daily driving HD trucks these days. It's probably trivial but ride and comfort are important when spending time in a vehicle every day. Which is better?
The greenhouse in the Ford is superior IMO. I much prefer the view out of the Ford. The Chevy hood looks too high from the driver's seat and blocks forward view.

Nice to hear a Ford guys take.
I think the gear indicator gets a little blown out of proportion though. I agree they should just go ahead and offer that option but as far as being necessary I don’t think it really is. It’s an automatic so it’s going to downshift on grades as much as the computer will allow based on your speed and rpm. And then like he said you can always just go into manual mode and downshift and it will give you the lowest gear possible based off rpm and speed.
So I agree they should just quit being stubborn and offer it but I don’t think it’s all that big of a deal.

@@louishendricks-tv1sx it’s nice to know what gear you’re in but I just can’t see how it’s necessary. It’s still an automatic transmission that’s only going to shift down or up based off engine speed and mph.
So you can be going 80 mph and try and downshift to 1st with the manual selector and the truck won’t allow that happen. It will only go down in gears as far as it can based on your speed and rpm.

One of the selling points for why I chose the GMC over the Chevy was the front end. Regarding not showing the gear you are in, the gear shows up when you go to manual. The instrumentation panel is basically a computer screen. I don't see why GM couldn't just push a firmware upgrade to the trucks to show it.

I almost got blown off the edge of the feeder road on I-10 in W Houston in my F350 Godzilla. Some jackleg cut me off to cut in to make the I-10 ramp. He was initially behind me then passed me right side then realized how close the entrance ramp was and he cut in. Bad bad bad driving.
My maneuver was to the left and I hit a rounded curb left front tire and bounced off and back into my lane. If I had not done that the jackleg would have certainly taken my right front quarter panel nose with him.
I was 3/4 mile to my hotel. I got out and inspected the truck underbody. Nothing broken. No damage. Nothing bent. Slept that night and hoped upon waking that my tire would be ok and not off the bead. All was well. I got up on the highway and slowly rolled up in speed to test steering and drift. Zero issues.
I came away from that hard “smack” on that curb at 60mph loving the Ford F350 front end. It is very stiff. I like to tell people you don’t drink much coffee in my truck on side roads. Nor do you text. The truck takes your attention because it is a real truck and you actually have to drive it.

Tire type and air pressure would certainly have some bearing on the ride, having said that both these trucks would come with load range E tires I imagine, sizing would be the other factor as per side wall height as low profile tires will typically give a stiffer ride over a taller side wall. Hop into a half ton and if they are inflated for an empty truck and if they are "passenger vehicle tires", that makes quite a difference to soaking up those little bumps/cracks in the road. Put another way, the tires and inflation can give good or bad impressions of a vehicle without realizing its not the vehicles fault.

I was test driving a few of these and I thought they had the 2022 super duty tune pretty well. Maybe I'm not as sensitive to it as some. These are heavy duty and they have heavy duty axles. No comparison between solid axle and IFS. Solid axle is stronger, more durable and articulates way better in an off-road vehicle. Another advantage is that it will be much easier and cheaper to lift a solid axle once you reach a certain height because of the angles. This isn't a midsize or even a half ton truck, it's a heavy duty truck and that's why it is built that way. I'll go with strength, durability and capability over slight increase in comfort.
