      Dravid earns the immense respect for playing the sport in true spirit and that too selflessly, no petulance, no unnecessary swearing, true gentleman...no tantrums to play at particular position, led the team, played crucial innings time and again, record says that in 36 test hundreds that he scored, 32 of those matches India went on win, did not selfishly prolong his career, took the call of captaincy, took the call of wicket keeping and dedicatedly mentoring U-19 now...

      Rohit Singh one thing I couldn't understand why Dravid declared inning when sachin was close to his double century n why he took retirement immediately after he was re-selected in one day series due to his good performance in South Africa as he was only one who was able to spend more time on south African pitches in test matches, he said that he didn't ask anyone to select him in one day series, he immediately took retirement after that series. He was not in one day team for long time. What was he waiting for so long to take retirement?

    • @gaminganime644
      @gaminganime644 Před 6 lety +25

      You're questioning him as if he's answerable to you with his most private matters. well, he isn't. Moreover, i think it's quite logical wanting to play a last one day series before retirement.

    • @abhishekphand4789
      @abhishekphand4789 Před 5 lety +21

      world humanity it wasnt south africa. It was england. And its useless to play in one day series if u r not gonna play next world cup. Thats what dravid might be thinking. And abt sachin, well sachin was batting slowly amd there was a chance to win 1st test match against pakistan in pakistan and they did.

    • @pawankumartyagi9168
      @pawankumartyagi9168 Před 5 lety +36

      world humanity It was not South Africa. It was England where his performances were spectacular, just like the past ones in England. Also, he was not the only one given an extra time to adapt to bouncy and overcast English conditions. Tendulkar and Laxman accompanied him to England, prior to the test series. To score runs on those pitches, in upcoming winters, you need solid temperament, one which Dravid had, but sadly none of the others did. Secondly, Dravid retired with dignity and an amazing form in his last year of test cricket, he was not chasing blunt records just for the sake of it, like Sachin. He was always a team man. Now coming to that Multan declaration, it was a little wrong to declare when Sachin was on 194 and 10-16 overs remaining in the day's play, but it was not all his mistake. Sachin was scoring painfully slow, when he could have just taken a few easy singles to reach his double ton. Dravid wanted the Pakistan team to play a few low-light overs, to get some grip into the game and pick a few early wickets, which India did. I personally believe that Dravid should have declared even earlier. That last one-day selection was just for a show. Dravid knew it was a gift in disguise. The BCCI wanted to show their fake respect towards India's biggest match winner after Anil Kumble.
      It was just a kayfabe. Dravid knew it, and wasting no time, he asked for retirement. It still makes me wonder how many blunt Sachin fans accuse Dravid, just because Sachin could not get a double ton. That was the first test we won there, first goddamn test. India had a gentleman all the time, but we are sellouts for records rather than team-play.
      Ganguly retired with dignity, Dravid retired with dignity, Laxman retired with dignity, Kuble retired with dignity, but Sachin was always chasing his fake-ass records all the time. What difference would it make if he had 99 hundreds instead of 100? He was always the best batsman and will remain so for years to come, but his thirst for personal records is just unfathomable.
