Baby gorilla left by mom finds a new home

- Jameela, which means "beautiful" in Swahili, was born four to six weeks early, Fort Worth Zoo officials said.
She was born via emergency C-section that required life-saving care for the mother and premature infant gorilla. Sadly, her mother had "little interest" in her baby, according to the zoo.
Caretakers attempted to train other gorillas at the zoo to become Jameela's surrogate mother but without success. So they sent her to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo where she was accepted by one of the female gorillas there.

They put the baby in a nest this morning and Frederica came into the room and picked her up and cuddle with her and took her as her own. Show baby Jamila now has a mom!! Freddy is amazing!
I'm so glad they're finding that poor baby a mother of its own species and not just a human to look after it.

How very sad that her biological mother rejected her, but there must have been a logical reason, which we may not understand at this point in time. Thankfully, this baby will find lots of love & caring where she's meant to. May God bless her & keep her❤
It is not her mother's fault. She got sick. And because of unnatural labor she didn't get an instinct. She didnt realize she had a baby

This is why I said that there must've been a logical reason for her to be rejected by her mother. I never meant to insinuate that it was either the mother's fault or the baby's. I'm just very happy that the baby girl has a 2nd chance at life! (fyi, I was adopted at birth 🥰)
@@margotseaton5276I agree with you. This species is known to be very good mothers and for the baby to be rejected, there must have been a good reason behind it. I've seen a couple videos of the monkey mothers rejecting their babies immediately after birth and it's really sad. You've inspired me to do some more research on this subject. Thank you
The mom ran into pregnancy complications and they were forced into doing a premature c-section to save the mother. I'm guessing because it wasn't a natural birth the mom's mothering instincts didn't kick in.

I wonder what makes a mom reject her baby? That is just heartbreaking. There are humans that way too. I can't imagine a mother throwing her newborn in the dumpster. 😢😢
