IS CAPE COD WORTH THE HYPE?!?

- We always thought of Cape Cod as being a bougie destination. Where the rich vacation.
We set out to experience this (while on a budget) we camped at Atlantic Oak campground in Eastham for 1/6th of the price of a standard hotel, but found that while an amazing outdoor paradise, you can't really experience the "Cape Cod" you hear about on TV without owning a house, a boat, or living in an over $600 hotel room.
We had an amazing trip exploring some of the Cape's history at the Nauset Lighthouse (from the Cape Cod Chip bag), the three sisters lighthouses, heading to Provincetown to see the Pilgrim Memorial and America's oldest art colony. We ate Lobster Rolls & Cod Bahn Mi at The Canteen, and finished day one at Racetrack Beach for a sunset and seal sightings!
The next day we breakfasted in Hyannis at Spoon and Seed for an incredible hash smash and chicken sandwich! We visited the Cape Cod Chip factory, and a cranberry bog. Next we went to Chatham stopping by the Godfrey Windmill built in 1797 before heading to the Chatham Pier and Fish Market, one of our favorite stops in all of the Cape!!! We loved watching the seals playing in the water waiting for the boats to come with fish scraps, and seeing the lobster boats come in with boxes and boxes of their fresh catch! We ate some fresh fish and chips, and a yummy lobster bisque! Ice Cream is a HUGE deal on the Cape so we stopped at Ice Cream Cafe for an excellent banana split while there, someone recommended visiting Rock Harbor Beach for sunset! We finished the night with Ivan starting a fire, and roasting s'mores.
On our final morning we went to Hole in One for some donuts, before heading home to Boston for a couple of days (before the big move!)
We had a great time exploring The Cape before the big move to NYC! Thanks for joining us, we hope you enjoyed! Please consider subscribing :)

🤣 DO IT!
Thank you so much for making this video. You showed all the good and bad weather and crowds. Now we know what to really expect on the cape . And a 100 dollars for an yucky place . Camping much much better. Usually the vids are all so perfect. Very refreshing to see the truth !
Thank you so much!!! This really means a lot to us! Camping definitely made the experience much more lovely! I’m glad we could share the real Cape Cod! Definitely still beautiful, but not in the picture perfect way haha. Thank you for watching!
Absolutely worth the hype. If you’re an early riser go to Coast Guard beach in the morning to catch the sun rise over the ocean. You can catch the sunset on the bay side at First Encounter beach. Particularly awesome at low tide you can walk the sand flats while catching the sunset. Both beaches are only a few minutes from Atlantic Oaks.
Oh my gosh amazing! We'll have to check those out next time!!!
Can we nuke the greenheads?
@@SteamingBurito greenheads are usually gone by August.
Beaches in brewster are far better at low tide and sunset.
So funny that you mention that. That’s what we always do. We go to coast guard beach and then after go over to 1st encounter beach and watch the sunset and it works out perfectly. I’d rather go later and catch the sunset. That’s the best time. If you go that early your all burnt out by early afternoon.
Just found you! Love this video! Our family goes once a twice a year to the cape! Great job stopping at some of the good spots! We love Chatham (silent h) pier! I have to ask, where did you get that yellow-ish dress? Adorable! Off to watch some of your other videos! Thanks, Natalie
Thank you so much! Twice a year, that sounds amazing! Omg thank you!!! The yellow dress is the exercise dress from Outdoor Voices in Mango color. Thanks so much for joining our crazy madventures!!!!
Live nearby the cape went every weekend because my husband worked there.best time after Sept for cheaper hotel rates.the beaches local restaurants lil shops are amazing. The fish is so fresh .
That is amazing, thanks for sharing! We were there just before September so we just missed the better rates. Great to know for next time! The fish we had there was definitely incredible though!
Great video 😊
Thanks you! 😊
Do you recommend heading to cape cod via the ferry and walking around? Ie: I don’t drive - is it possible to walk around and explore without a car?
I was in eastham a month ago and went to Hole in One restaurant every morning- it was 47 degrees 1 night and I’m from Cape Cod but now in BradeFl and boy it was cold - I hope you got to go to the Bayside that’s the best part of the lower cape on the tide goes out you can work out for miles
That sounds incredible! We went to Cape Cod after spending a few months in Miami, so I can definitely imagine how cold you were! We didn't make it there this trip, but will definitely add that to our plans for next time, that sounds so cool! Thanks for the tip!!!
Enjoyed your video. Been there, but not the peak season.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching! We definitely want to visit NOT during peak season one day! That sounds great.
GOT OUR ROADTRIP SNACKS!
The road trip snacks may have been the first thing I planned 😂
Wow was it cold there in September?
Yes! I don’t know if it is typical for traveling to Cap Cod, but it was cold and overcast for most of our time there. We definitely recommend packing some warmer clothes!
@@letsmadventure it's always like that
At night it can occasionally be that cold
Too bad you didn’t get the really good spots to go. And ptown in the rain does it nooo justice. Race point beach/lighthouse. Head of the meadow beach(national parks). Highland lighthouse on the bluff just before Ptown. Coast guard beach. 1st encounter beach. Mayflower beach. Chatham lighthouse beach. Skip the fish pier. Glad you saw the lighthouse in Chatham. That’s cool. The wood on the interior. Grays beach boardwalk for the sunset is incredible. I don’t want to give up all the secrets. We rent a house for 1800 a week with 4 adults and 6 kids. That’s not bad. The last thing you want is to be stuck in a hot sticky moist damp tent when it’s 90 degrees during the day and 50 at night. I’d rather kick in the extra to have a couch tv BED A/c showers microwave. Also the cape is no more expensive then any place in America. U can say that line with any city destination. To really have a good time in “Sausalito California” you need a house a boat , etc. At least there no homeless camps , and crime and non citizens. So the cape has a lot to offer in comparison
We've been getting so many good recommendations since posting this video, we're definitely going to have to make another visit. We did visit Race Point Beach / lighthouse, it was beautiful there! Renting a house on the cape sounds lovely, and at that price for a place that holds ten people, definitely a great way to do it!
Cape Cod is not a "hype". It is more of a town by town mind set. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate. It is very Jekyll & Hyde. When its sunny in the summer months it is spectacular. The scrub pines pop green. In the rain they turn grey.
You're so right! I feel like the average American knows Cape Cod as a "fancy vacation destination" because of the celebrities and politicians who famously spend time there, but it is so much better than that! Definitely more of the "town by town mind set" you speak of! Hope to visit again someday in better weather!
What’s the sodium content of fried potato chips? Is it healthy to eat potato chips? Wouldn’t it be best if you snacked on veggie chips?
Lol idk but you can’t not have Cape Cod Chips in Cape Cod. If Cape Cod was known for veggie chips, we definitely would have those too!
There’s always one who likes to tell people what to do.
Capr Cod is some good @$$ chips tho!
Facts! I wish we had gotten to tour the factory!
Why the he'll did I move to colorado?
Colorado is so beautiful too! You've chosen some gorgeous places to live.
The Cape Cod potato chip tour is now pretty lame. You just walk by a few windows and look inside the factory where they're being made. Then you're dumped into the "gift shop" to shell out some $$$ for gifts (chips and bags etc).
Bummer that the tour was a letdown. Thanks for the heads up! Definitely makes me feel better about it being closed.
No stay away. It’s overcrowded, everything is expensive and when youre an asshole to a local you get run down by an angry rabbid mob of seals
Haha sounds terrifying!
Yeah locals are very welcoming. Never complain about anything.
It could have something to do with the way tourists treat service workers And other business owners here on the cape. The majority of the time when customers treat me like shit it's from a tourist
Cape Cod is overrated, however P-town and Race Point Beach is the best. All the cool kids go to Block Island.
Eastham to Ptown 30 miles, I hope you don't do your own taxes 🙄
30 minute* drive. Sorry, I misspoke lol. Not to worry though, my husband does my taxes 💁🏼♀️😂
You guys - really get a room next time. 😢
Not really per the hype at all.
It is so different than I had expected!
