I think the only reason a penalty wasn't given is because Craig Dawson's fist was between Onana and Kalajdzic's heads and Onana's head hit Dawson's fist which is what made the impact with Kalajdzic's head, and without that being included it was just a body check from a keeper with his eyes on the ball.

I heard a former ref on the Sky Sports broadcast say that they want them to rely less on VAR and only to use it when it's 100% obvious that the ref either didn't see the play or that the ref interpreted the play completely wrong. So, they just want to completely ignore the reason VAR was created in the first place, which is to get it right. They talk about how people are annoyed that VAR takes too long. But people are really annoyed that it takes long and they still get the call wrong. Also, when you miss blatant calls like the one from today, you ruin the experience for fans. Aside from the fans whose team benefits, everyone else is sat there thinking "this sucks." And what would have been an exciting ending is snuffed out and we're left wondering what could have been.

they need to be investigated
They've been doing this for years at the EPL with Man Utd. I'm surprised no one has investigated it. Corrupt to the core.
The two most shocking calls this weekend were about the goalkeeper. Both times the keepers were over protected. The disallowed goal in the Everton game and the Onana foul

1. Wasn’t a denial of goal scoring opportunity
2. Neither player got the ball
What am I missing here?
onana is the roy keane of goalkeeping/midfielder
I think it’s not a penalty for one reason, the guy already headed the ball. Same thing happened with Tottenham and Brentford. The goalkeeper took out Schade’s legs but it wasn’t given as a penalty because he already took the shot. In that sense, the refereeing was consistent.
It's essentially a missed tackle, and a missed tackle results in a foul. Thats how I perceive it
@@paulmccallie8718 I’m not denying that it was a missed tackle, he totally took him out. I’m simply comparing it to the Tottenham game, where the goalkeeper clearly swept the strikers legs but it wasn’t given as a pen, the reason they gave was because he already took the shot. So why aren’t people making a big deal about that?
It's 100% clear that the referees in VAR booth were Manchester United supporters. It's not enough for them not to be part of ManU matches. Corruption and Bias like this should be punished heavily. Firing is not enough. It should be firing + fines!
As a united fan I agree it was a penalty, but trust me these refs are not united supporters nor have they been bribed as they have made many more atrocious decisions earlier. The Ref in the VAR was the same who didn't give the clear penalty to brighton against spurs last season
Keepers get way too much leverage compared to other positions when it comes to these type of incidents. If an outfield player did that, Wolves would have had a penalty there.
Yes, this been basically an unwritten rule forever that keepers get extra protection in air... I'm not sure why this time the media is going after it
The Keepers are protected and rightfully so
No no no… this is completely different. Onana has clobbered the guy trying to get the ball with his shoulder, side of his body and his head, it’s different if just the arms brush opposition
its also a red card cause onana makes contact with the head. watching the replay he wasnt looking at the ball either
Know your rules Buddy ...it can't be a Pen and a red card
My 10p's worth is that the ref lost control of that game early on after booking Martinez early - there were blatant yellow card fouls committed by both sides throughout that he missed or didn't want to escalate knowing they'd end in red at some point(not sure how on this planet Wan-Bissaka didn't even get a yellow card never mind a red for 2 yellows or Casemiro either!), and to not see the clearing out of 2 Wolves players by Onana was just unacceptable - VAR showing it's frailties when it's not supposed to have any - it's like Anakin joining the dark side; it was said you'd destroy these incidents not join them!
Man U's bank transfer to the referee crew has gone through.
The whole Wolves team should have walked off the pitch and refused to finish the match in protest. Diabolical decision not to award them the penalty. I agree with Nicol, whoever made that decision should not be allowed to adjudicate ever again. I'm saying this as someone who is not a Wolves supporter. I support Celtic.

They did show the play in the show tinhead. They just cant show it on youtube because they dont have the rights.

Wolves are much better than many were expecting and have the players and work rate to survive this season but that Man United squad looked like it was still in pre season. Compare this foul to the one given against Son in Tottenham/Brentford match yesterday where he dragged a toe across the top of a planted foot (i.e., not stepped/stomped on)... just bonkers.
i would imagine that the player being "fouled" actually had the ball and a decent shot of getting a shot away. how does that in any way compare to this? Onana fouled a guy with zero ability to shoot or score. really you people are all 🤡
You're the clown here. Refs have given penalty calls for ordinary shirt pulling on players not anywhere close to the ball, your argument is wobbly at best
@siisti81 so you're saying when the ball has been cleared goalkeepers can punch players kick them or commit a foul coz they're not in a position to score??makes alot of sence
@@zizujillo5818 since he didn't punch or kick the guy, your hypothetical is false. Fouling someone when the ball isn't in imminent danger of scoring is absolutely not a penalty. If the goalie punches someone in his box while the ball is in the other half, he gets a red card, NO PENALTY. Do you understand yet? It's a very simple concept.
@@siisti81 when someone wants to head the ball into the back of the net its not imminent danger??okay makes total sence
On NBC's coverage, Tim Howard said straight out he knew there wouldn't be a penalty on the play. He claimed to have seen several examples of obvious fouls committed by the keeper in the box, and admitted he'd been involved in a few himself, and he had never seen a foul called. It's a clear double standard where it appears the officials are protecting the keepers. However, the rules apply to everyone on the pitch and if a defender clattered into the Wolves player in the box like Onana did, there would have 100% for certain a penalty called. Having said that, I absolutely blame the on field referee and have nothing but contempt for whoever was in the VAR booth. Simon Hooper should be reprimanded and the VAR official should be suspended altogether. This was an absolute failure of officiating and Wolves deserve a public apology from the Premier League and the Referees Union.
