My no-buy had 2 exeptions and that was that I was allowed to buy something from the Lisa Eldridge Summer and Autumn launches but I had to really think about it because her launch videos aren't average. I got a lipstick early in the year, but with the palette launch it made things so much more difficult.
same. but the thing is that Lisa's video on these shadows didn't do much for me and Hannah's made me want to get Cinnabar and my fiance is already informed about this 😂

Yes! I completely agree with the lack of grunge in the LE color world. I would LOVE to see her do a grunge collection bc I imagine she would put it in the context of makeup history and really give us some truly special and unique ucky grungy shades 🤩
the lipsticks in sorcery and meet me in berlin are inspired by 90s grungeyness- so I hope she elaborates on those shades and makes more grungey shadows.
as a 40 year old makeup enthusiast who is a bit scared of the super punchy colors in everyday life, I'm actually quite happy that her eyeshadows aren't as punchy. I'm super pale with cool undertones and I adore vega. myth is actually quite punchy in my book but manageable for me. :)
Same, that elephant grey is SO great for everyday little old faint of heart me :)
45 and fair and cool toned over here. Vega is the first palette in my life I will use up. I can use all the six shades which is rare for me.
And I don’t shop any of the brands that were mentioned. I think that’s a bit of a cliché. The colors are just easy to manage & you don’t run the risk of applying way too much all at once.
I find Myth a bit much, and as someone who's very pale I find it difficult to use the palette without a very pale French Grey-equivalent shade. Vega is my ideal

When the new lipsticks came out, there was so much hype about how they were the perfect 90s supermodel shades, etc. My first thought was, the shades those 90s supermodels wore are almost all easily available for a fraction of the price. The first brand that came to mind was Revlon. The Rum Raisin comparison was easy confirmation.

Lol, I had that idea in my head of polished, editorial, not too dramatic, when I asked for Velvet Midnight, expecting it to be a berry shade. But on my pale face it's full-on goth, almost black. That just shows how tricky it is to order makeup online in general in terms of expectation vs reality. Very enjoyable review!

i love love love this channel, i feel like no other makeup youtuber can top your amazing vibes and the way you use your products, the way you really see the value in what you own and how you demonstrate it to us in such a eloquent and appealing way. since i started watching i've deeply enjoyed your honesty and thoughtfulness regarding makeup and started to get into this world in a way that finally feels approachable. besides, i too have a pale complexion, hooded eyes and olive undertones in my skin and for the first time i have been able to look at examples of products that suit me well and to get to know how to apply them in a way that compliments my features. i love your attitude towards makeup, it speaks to me like that of an aesthete who enjoys their art pieces and seeks to have every single one of them shine without the need to necessarily collect too much nor to feel like its their duty to have everything the industry has to offer, just what seems to communicate with them the most. you really are the best. i hope you have a great day :)

Most of these color names are taken from the Grumbacher paints, geared mostly for beginning artists. These colors are extremely well known amongst artists. Sketching tree trunks onto a canvas is a Raw Sienna (or Burnt Umber) moment. Anyway You correctly noted the pigment undertone in Lamp Black, which Is a very pure black, but tends to muddy slightly in mixtures. Natural sources may be brownish or bluish in tone because of impurities.

love your reviews so much. the way you really dig deep into finding the most precise words to describe the texture and experience of using the shadows is like no other. you also are very aware of your own preferences and are able to describe both what works / doesn't for a shadow and what works / doesn't work *for you* for a shadow. I knew these weren't for me (I want the glitz and duo/multichrome shine), but always lovely to listen in.

Lisa's liquid lurex in titania definitely serves the grungy green with black base one and done look. Also Emily is a good neutral taupe topper. I've loved mixing that with Pat's topper coats for an easy eye look. I think you would like those
I'm not going to buy the Lisa Eldridge palettes-more of a one and done girl-but I'm here to listen to Hannah's relaxing voice to quell my rage as I try to clean nail polish off my daughter's bedroom furniture and bathroom sink.

Your take on the LE color scheme is so interesting. All of her "neutral" lipsticks look dead grey on me. Color theory is wild.
I understand what you are saying about certain eyeshadow palettes. My Wayne Goss Luxury Eye Palette are like that for me. They are not splashy and get overlooked within my own collection, at times. But when I do reach for them, I am amazed how good my eyeshadow looks at the end of the day.

I am so glad I postponed the purchase and waited for your review. Apart from having more than enough great eyeshadows already, I really can't see myself using these formulas. All other reviews were just like "These are so Lisa!, top notch, innovative formulas, great classic colours with a twist. Recommend", but I need a more in-depth review. This one's just like actually getting to touch and use them. Thank you! Please keep up the good work!
I have sorcery and myth and I think your “it’s just eyeshadow” sums it up for me. I have hooded eyes and find all of the shadows transfer throughout the day so most of the shades I can only use as liner without issue. I don’t know what I was expecting but I much prefer the Natasha denona formulas and dont think I’ll feel compelled to purchase any more of these.
EPIC WAY TO KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR! (Your comparison of matte eyeshadows in the different formulas to soft pastels and oil pastels really won my art supply worker heart.) Thank you for such a thorough and balanced review.

I appreciate you not requesting a replacement for the 2 broken shades- i was thinking the same when you mentioned their situation. If you are reviewing, you got this experience and you can review them anyway, plus just repress them. For a regular consumer of course, I would justify requeastng a replacement so that the company develops either a better formula or better packaging.

Totally agree about the way the shadows are ageing in the pan - I have myth and sorcery and through light use, they are starting to look hard panned, slightly crumbly and dull. I’m glad I bought them but won’t be buying any more.
My CT quads look like you described the Lisa palettes :( haven't tried Lisa's eyeshadow yet because I am waiting for an empty palette that we can customize
@@raluci That's interesting! I own two that I use super often - one that I use pretty much daily, Star Aura and one that I had pretty much since it came out, Exagger-Eyes. The latter only has the pop shade looking a bit frizzy, the other one looks as good as new minus the initial lettering on the eyeshadows. Definitely not such a mess as the Lisa ones - I have to clean and wipe down the packaging pretty much daily :(

I am so excited for you to review Lisa's eyeshadows. Simular to you, "neutral" doesn't lean neutral on me and I need your I highly detailed information before making any decisions.
I'm in no rush to buy this but I think I will get curated singles once she sells the empty palette (should the shades be practical for me)
Edited after watching: wow I would have been utterly disappointed had I jumped in with these shadows, they really aren't made for me both in color and shine. While still beautiful I can find simular shades that would suit me far better.

I would’ve never guessed that you would’ve purchased the Cinnabar palette because of the orangey-ness. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you kept talking about selling the fantasy but in reality it’s just eyeshadow. It helps keep myself in check so I don’t buy something I don’t “need” 👏🏼

This was super interesting. I only bought the Sorcery palette, and I think it's quite a different experience to the ones you have tried (it only has one matte, for a start - which I like as a liner). It might just be my preference & skin tone etc reading differently, but there are some pretty colourful shades in it, that are what they look like they will be. I was kind of disappointed in Mercurial at first, but it turned out I just needed more of it!

A lot of those legendary early 90s lipsticks were, in fact, just dark roses or brick red. And talking about eyeshadows, it was mostly that infamous blue and a lot of black melted eyeliner. Sometimes we blend what we see in yellowish unfiltered pictures with what we'd like want to see.
Yes! I remember owning exactly those two colours of lipstick. I owned a dark rose one and used it as a blush and shadow as well. Still do this nowadays, creature of habit. And yes, eyeliner. Lots of.
This was a very thorough, honest and balanced review. As someone who owns Chanel & TF, but also owns PMG (my fave) & ND and indie I totally get what you’re saying about her shadows. I own Sorcery and while I have nothing bad to say about the palette, I also wasn’t blown away by it either given my collection. What I love most from LE is her lipsticks and I actually love her liquid eyeshadows.
It is so crazy how different makeup looks on different people. I decluttered Affair because it pulled straight cool toned brown on me and made me look sick. Affair on you has so much more red in it that I never knew was even there. Bizarre!!
I think the lesson here is that there's something for everyone and this may not be for everyone. What we buy is all very specific to whatever your particular tastes are that you may or may not like something or buy more of the same same, or mix it up. I think of all youtubers I follow, I find that you're looking for every individual shadow to pass your pressure test (which is pretty intense IMO) and that is totally ok and not without merit (after all, why buy X for more if you dont need to, unless you want to or don't care?) ! I spent a lot of time buying shadows that swatch gorgeously and reflective and interesting - like they speak to my soul and then i never use them because they dont make sense in my life and corporate America where I spend most of my time. I can't d around every morning with with chunky reflective anything and experiment talking to clients and VPs - maybe in old agency life but I also like to mix things up and really want a variety and not drama in every shadows. To each their own! Curious if you'd used all the shadows (like all all) on your eyes vs just swatching and using the ones you like? I def. didn't have any issues blending or with patchiness with these shadows
There is also that your skin colour gonna make colours of the eyeshadows or lipstick different. Like the same lips colour that my friend is wearing looks insenly purple on me while looks blood red on my friend

I think this Is the best kind of review for beauty products: technicalities of the products and properties, practical use, artistic point of view, consumer point of view and in general a carefully thought through review. Many beauty content creators just splatter the products on their faces and in 10 minutes it's love It, hate It or meh, without the kind of analysis that she does. Hey Hannah ! Ahh so glad to hear your thoughts on this launch! Vega is my absolute fave and I loved your customized palette. I was shocked by the blendability of Lisa’s mattes; I definitely wasn’t expecting a truly unique matte formula that I’d be so excited about, yet I really got that from these shadows.
Anytime I find myself wanting a pop of chunkier glitter, I’ve been loving to do my complete look with the palette from Lisa and then just tap a glitter topper shade from Pat over the center of the lid 🤩
PS a couple of recommendations that I feel like are calling your name - her newer liquid lurex shades are incredible - I think you’d love Cressida, Zora, Emily, Anais, Titania, or Viola 🥺 And (off topic) if you haven’t tried the Mimi blush stick from Westman Atelier, I think you’d love how neutral it is

Great review. It’s so interesting seeing people’s preferences. I have both Vega and Myth and was surprised how much I like the Smokey blue in Vega as I thought it would be terrible, yet have used it quite a bit. I like your pick of colours for a custom palette and think it looks very usable.
I love the words you use to describe makeup :) Your adjectives are so precise and specific, so it's helpful in understanding how the makeup looks/works.

Really loved the review. Totally agree with your take on the LE palettes. I find what's interesting on the lipsticks is how different they are on each person. As you mentioned Affair has a reddish quality on you, on my sister who is a cool-toned blonde, it is definitely a warm 90s brown. On me, (palish blond but more warm toned), it is a really light beige. It's not just her lipsticks of course

I completely agree with what you mean with the matte eyeshadows not having much purchase, I was so confused at first but I find the more you work the brush over the area the more payoff you get, kind of massaging it on with the brush. We have similar skin tones albeit I’m a fraction less fair. I so often find midtone brown and bronze eyeshadows pulling orange/red on my eyes and I’ve spent so much on Lisa Eldridge lipsticks trying to get less pink neutrals! I’ve learned so much about which colours work best on me since following your channel (am also now in a no buy thanks to you) I will follow you to the end of the earth for your recommendations and wisdom.

A great start for 2023 to watch your thorough review on the Lisa Eldridge eye shadow palettes.
I picked up ritual and madrigal. Yes. They may not have the pow as some other shadows but esp madrigal, works well for older textured eyes. I esp enjoy the madrigal on. I agree that ritual was not as wet shiney as I hoped but it again works for an older eye.
I totally agree with your opinion of the direction or vibe of these palettes. The audience is clear and it’s her thing. Just not my thing; either lol. Beautiful, maybe for my mom. ❤
I’m so thankful that you made this video. I was thinking about getting one because there was SO much hype, but my favorite thing about them was the super shiny shadows and I have Pat McGrath palettes that I love so so much that do that and they’re expensive so I really need to use those instead
So grateful for this video for squashing my desire to buy these shadows. The magic of Lisa really grabs me but I think I have a similar taste in shadows as you (including tones of "neutrals") and I already had a feeling the palettes weren't right for me, and while they really are beautiful, I think they're just not for me.

I definitely agree with you about Lisa’s makeup pulling orange! As another muted pale olive I was surprised by how much her lipsticks pulled warmer on me when it was supposed to be neutral or even slightly blue leaning. I believe she herself is slightly warm leaning, and if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that makeup brands created by makeup artists that have warm undertones themselves have a “neutral” point that is shifted warmer than a true neutral (in my opinion Natasha Denona is the worst offender)
My muted pale olive is why I went for myth and bought supernova separately, those dusty mauve shades and deep aubergine really pull natural on me! It’s confusing being green 😂

Same! I bought Velvet Dragon, and I love it - but it’s straight up ORANGE on me, not really red at all!

Missed you lots!!!! So happy when I saw a notification for your video ha! Also I had the same feeling about the topper in Cinnabar. I thought I had a "bad" batch... I was expecting it to be like Urban Decay space cowboy... which I slather everywhere... I love the palettes 🎨but the toppers really left me wanting more.
I love how thorough this review was and not dismissive in explaining the cons of the eyeshadows for you personally. The eyeshadows actually are perfect for me. I like eyeshadows that are subtle. I love Ritual and a good everyday shiny topper. So, I enjoyed how balanced your review was :). Btx I love how the shadows mesh with the skin once it has settled. And for me, all of Lisa's products look better and better after a few minutes of application :)

What a wonderful review Hannah, as always! 💕 I get exactly what you are saying. My eyes changed so much in the span of just 3 years of not wearing makeup. I went to put it on like I always did and good grief did I struggle. So I finally stopped that and had to retrain myself on what I could do and what I could use to still be satisfied with my eyeshadow. I was not happy for quite a long time because I still fought that urge, and the frustration, that with with it, to create these specific Bam 💥 kind of looks. I finally found my happy place in my new reality but the journey to arrive was not fun? Thanks so much! T ✌🏻
