  • Check out this video of Pastor David Guzik introducing the first section of the book of Job!
    It is rightly understood to be a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry and Western literature. It is not primarily about one man’s suffering and pain but theological. Job must deal with the fact that in his life, God does not act the way he always thought God would and should act. In this drama, the Book of Job is not so much a record of solutions and explanations to this problem; it is more a revelation of Job’s experience and the answers carried within his experience.

    Thank you Pastor David for this message on the story of Job. Sometimes suffering seems long and tedious, but it's a good thing to be reminded that God is still in control. Praise our Lord and Saviour always!

    I love how much God uses his teachings in his videos. I appreciate that its not some sort of motivation speech but an actual preaching with real life lessons. I also appreciate how Pastor David explains what cynic means, hedgerows, etc. I literally have a better understanding and encourages me to want to learn more about the bible. Thank you Jesus for your guidance. Thank you Pastor David!

    Of all the studies on the book of Job I've heard, this one reached me deep enough to bring me to tears and a reason for repentance. So many unimaginable occurrences in my life gave me plenty of reasons to make comparisons, and dare to say, "Just call me Job." But it always stopped at the calamities. Nothing, absolutely nothing in me would give God (or anyone else, for that matter) cause to call me blameless. Shame on me. Thank You, God, for Your forgiveness and grace and mercy to teach and humble me with these words.
    Really looking forward to the rest of this series.

  • @smalltownglobalproductions

    Job was blameless but that does not mean he was without fault. His fault was pride. He thought he could earn his own salvation.

    Very nice explanation. These real events, also, teaches us lessons on how to help someone who is undergoing suffering. His so-called friends showed precisely what a Brother or Sister should not do.

    Just a thought that came to mind. The opposite of light is the absence of light, therefore I would think the opposite of God is the absence of God. I don't want to know what that's like, but it's just a thought, not a critique.

    This study of the book of , points to JESUS, in many ways, YESHUA was blameless, all tribes revered Job, all disciples revered YESHUA, . In other words YESHUA lives in the bible ALL scripture leads , to YESHUA.

    If we are in an experience like Job, how do we get out?

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord
      @DavidGuzikEnduringWord  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The story of Job is the story of a suffering person being told by each of his friends and family WHY he is suffering, and each one o them was totally wrong. They aim to convince him that he should repent of sins he did not commit, and ultimately to just curse God and be done with his life.
      If one was in a situation just like Job's, where unbelievable sufferings came one after another, each one more tragic and painful than the last, without ceasing, we are taught to:
      a) remain righteous (keep our steadfast obedience to God and to closely follow and imitate Christ Jesus),
      b) to not give up nor seek the easy way out, and to
      c) always remember that God's ways and God's thoughts are not our ways nor our thoughts - our human perspective is by definition limited and narrow, but God sees and knows all things.
      God may be rightly forming and preparing us to better manage even More difficult times ahead, or be preparing us to be a source of strength and comfort to those even weaker than us when they are in seasons of suffering as well.
      And if one is ever in a situation Less tragic and traumatic than Job's, we can look to Job as a role model, as someone who withstood far more hardship than we have, and still did not stop praising and obeying the Lord.
      As you know, Job suffered through the death of All of his children, lost all of his wealth, possessions, and his home/property, then lost all his health, comfort, and peace when he was stricken with horrifying boils over his entire body. If our sufferings are any less than all these, we can take inspiration and strength from Job's example.
      Ultimately, the Book of Job serves as a meditation on the enigmatic and often unfathomable nature of suffering, the limits of human knowledge, and the importance of faith and perseverance in the face of adversity.

    I'm not sure how I feel about God using people to teach lessons. That surely is a very uhhh... Unique take. And incredibly bizarre. Doesn't the Father teach His children Himself?
    I've made a simple guess while listening to this: I think that the story of Job is meant to show how God permits evil and suffering but still loves and values his people. This suffering may or may not be caused by demons but by an entity called the Satan which literally means adversary.
    It's almost like Job 1 is talking about God having a conversation with struggle itself. And this struggle came upon Job but luckily it didn't destroy his faith.

      Pastor Lance replies - God often teaches us through others. Think of the Book of Proverbs, where the wise fathers urges his son to heed HIS wisdom.

    Does GOD and satan play by a set of rules and regulations??? From the text it seems as they do. Please answer?

    • @DavidGuzikEnduringWord
      @DavidGuzikEnduringWord  Před 2 lety +9

      I wouldn't use the word "play", but I know what you mean. :-) To state it simply, God is sovereign, and Satan cannot do anything without God allowing it. Satan is a created being, a fallen angel, and he doesn't have authority over his own life or actions. Whatever God allows Satan to do, is for God's glory and purposes. Hope this helps! Blessings.

    • @jackfrost2978
      @jackfrost2978 Před rokem +1

      Some of the parables Jesus tells us. Are insights into the war in Heaven and the fallen angels. There are rules that must be followed and consequences for breaking them. There is a sort of chess match being played out. God has been telling satan some of his key moves in advance, so as to humble satan completely. God is showing satan that even as he cheats at the game in satans favor, by telling him some of the key moves he is going to do. satan is still incompetent as an opponent. This game / humbling is also tied to legal rules. As the game gets played. The fallen angels become increasingly trapped in the legal system and the consequences to come.
      The fallen angels thought to use the rules of the game, to build a spiders web. To trap us and abuse us, for their pleasure. God is using the rules of the game to trap them in their own spider web. Kind of like when police run a sting operation on criminals. As the game developed, and God continued to show satan some of his future moves. It became apparent to satan and the other fallen. They are going to lose. They continue to play the game to their end. With no ability to escape. Watching as they struggle. Knowing already, they have failed. Their only vengeance is to take as many of us with them as possible. To keep Gods harvest as small as possible.
