    Heree in Haiti, where growlight are very difficult to get. I use 6 regular led lights for my mother plant and clones. When the clones reaches a certain size, I put them outside to flower. Never had an issue.

    I have had great success using 14w 1750 lumen (or so) 4200k led household bulbs , plants showed no sign of needing more or different colored light , this was for plants similar to tomatoes .

      @@Richard-fi3rz14w 1600 lumens are quite common here and would be even better for you
      and you should use at least 3-4 if you're growing medicinal tomatoes

      Awesome.👍🏾✊🏾!!!! I decided to salvage an old television 📺, and cut the parabolic screen off of the face of the TV. And I am going to stick/paste some thick aluminum foil, from Walmart, on the inside of the TV face, and then polish it.🪞then I am going to center, and experiment with what types of light sources to use. And focus, the magnifying 🔍, and now projected pure beam, to decide how much radiation I am going to need, according to whatever it is that I am planting, and growing. Which will be only food. Before the Big, global famine begins.

    Very useful thanks, bought a couple of growlights now it's getting darker earlier here in the UK. Been using regular LED on others thinking it's better than nothing, and your video has helped with that. Usefully with Philips Hue you can choose the Kelvin rating to match the best blueish white.

    @chris_and_music Před 3 měsíci

    Hey, this is the best explaining video on the subject!
    I have a question, in 4:40 you mention that in case of buying a regular LED, we should aim for the cool spectrum. But as I'm seeing in that chart, wouldn't a LED bulb between 5000 and 6000k be more in the 'middle ground' of warm and cool colors? So it can also have some more of red spectrum there?

      @@oscaratencio1512 I just used a regular LED bulb! Grow lights are very expensive.
      For a cozy living room, get a 3000k otherwise it would be too blue and look cold.
      I read that is more importat the wattage (and lumens) than the temperature. So make sure to get at least a 30-40w bulb

      She forgot to mention that not only the light color is different, but also the amount of photons produced. the photon density of grow lights is much larger, and therefore they often need more power to produce the same amount of visible light (40W vs. 8W is quite common), but for plants this photon densitiy is crucial.

    • @PlantsandLucia
      @PlantsandLucia  Před 2 lety

      Blue light will generally help with vegetative and folktale growth for sure. I’m testing an only blue grow light for a cutting with no leaves now, I’ll see how it goes ! If it is not a grow light, just observe your plant and see if it’s not growing leggy, that may mean that the light intensity is not good enough
