@@RedFail1-1 I play ground arcade but I’ll assume you play air because of your profile pick. So how about you get a top tier air arcade lineup and play it. Hell maybe even record it and upload it. It ain’t just “point and click” .
It requires some skill, as does any PVP game, but that amount of skill is significantly less than rb does and much, much less than sim. It especially requires much less game knowledge. In ab, the game goes a lot of stuff for you. You don't need to remember much about other vehicles, you don't need to know how to properly aim or position yourself. All incredibly important things in rb. Sim then takes that and adds another layer of complexity, giving you yet again less information and thus significantly increasing the game's complexity, creating both a higher skill floor and ceiling. And of course, due to these higher skill floors, the avrage rb/sb player will be more experienced than the avrage ab player.
I never really played ground ab much, cause imo it's simply just not fun compared to ground rb, but I did start off the game playing a lot of air ab. I've only recently gotten more matches in air rb than ab. But I still haven't touched it in over a year and I'm not planning to. Sure, ab has it's advantges of being faster paced, requiring less concentration and being less infuriating if you screw up, but rb is much more rewarding, allows my skill to grow and, most importantly, lets me research faster.
TLDR: Yes, ab requires some skill, but rb is a more complex gamemode and is thus much more difficult. I would reccomend switching to it as soon as you feel comfortable in ab.
@@jojomaster7675 yea I messed up in the fact that I didn’t specify I was mostly talking about top tier air. In low tier air what your saying is true but in top tier you do have to worry more about position enemy planes and skill sets if you want to do amazing. Sure you can do well if you’re a noob but it will be due to luck. Btw I am basing this off of what I’ve seen from this guy.

Arcade requires a different skillset than realistic, and skills are often invisible to those who don't have them. In particular, you need to figure out ways to attack other players without getting shot down yourself (because theres so much stuff flying through the air in arcade - waaaay more than realistic). That requires knowing the planes, positioning, and psychology. Doing ok in arcade requires you to know two of these things, doing great requires all 3. In realistic, it's 1 and 2, respectively. So people who only understand the planes hop in realistic, and then look down on arcade because they don't have the skills to do well in it.

This boom and zoom method works great in low tier air arcade battles too. I regularly come back to my SBD-3 with gun pods to rain hell on enemy planes and flee back to recently respawned allies

@@timogavril6934 Yeah I just checked. It's about 27 days total over the last 10 years or so that i've had my account - so closer to 700 than 600, actually. The game is mostly about your ability to recognize and understand key concepts. If you can do that quickly, you can do well. People can spend a long time playing this game and not learn anything.

That is the plan, and I got some footage for stuff like that (Mirage F1C for example). But I want to make a guide on the fundamentals first. Otherwise I'll just repeat myself a lot.

@nick4754 well the jump from rank 5 to 6 is the most brutal in the game, since that's when you first encounter good missiles. If it's not the MiG-21S, it would been something else.
But yeah ... I also shove my MiG-21S into an 8.7 lineup.
You killed it in this thread I’ve been playing arcade since the beginning. I always have said, in reality arcade is harder. Realistic you fly 8 mins to the target the gameplay is slow or you rip your wings off. How about running out of fuel and flying 10 mins back. The real skill is here!! Before I kind of sold my soul and became a guud1 player, I used to tell other people what’s more fun shooting down 12-15 planes or 4 at most and shooting a guided munition. There’s no question which mode is better air arcade

Can you make a guide on low tier planes? For example ambushing the enemy in arcade battles, i cant do it for some reason. The enemy would just instantly see me and obliterated me.

Furthest radar missile kill I've made its 13km with aim7. Sometimes they actually work 😂. I think it's more a problem with the f4s radar than the missiles

I am shocked at how good the radar is on the mig21 compared to Japanese phantoms.
Early radars have less controls to screw with. Go watch the F-15A video from last week- there's a radar tip that might help you at the beginning :D
@@Aoeilaeiepae interesting. If you don't have a Japanese phantom, try the adtw in a test drive. The radar is horrendous and I find that I have to be pointing up to get a lock. If the ground is anywhere near ahead of you, even at far distances and well below it won't lock.

@apendragon53 I've never played the tornado, so take this eith a grain of salt, but here's what I can say:
1. By rank 8, the selling point of interceptors is generally their speed, not their climb rate, because the sky is so dangerous. That's means low-level boom-and-zoom while hiding in the terrain. It had a ton of countermeasures, so spam those when you're out in the open - yes, before anyone can even launch a missile at you. It'll delay your opponents ability to get a lock on you to begin with. That delay buys you time to escape. Terrain is cover, and if you can get behind terrain before someone can hit you with a missile, it costs you very little energy to defeat a missile. That let's you keep your speed up. And a fast plane with decent missiles that's good at weaving through the terrain is a goddamn nightmare to kill. If you're on a flat map, use speed and distance to give the enemies a wide berth - they likely wont attack you if theres closer targets. You can then hit them with Skyflash missiles at range or (if there's a small number of enemies) rush them with AIM-9Ls.
2. It has 4 AIM-7 derivatives and 4 AIM-9Ls. I don't know how janky the radar is, but assuming it isn't, my guess is it would play very similar to the F-15, but with weapons one step below it.
3. The best players almost always crowd the highest BR (currently 12.3). So you will face mostly uptiers until BR 13 planes come out. Your life will get easier if you ditch the tornado for a lower BR lineup, or if you get a higher BR plane and use the tornado as your backup.

I was energy fighting throughout the whole video - that's a form of dogfighting. This video was to teach the core principles of dogfighting. Next video is turn-and-burn dogfighting. This is a 3-parter - TTAA is very complex.

Oh dear god make sure its in an 11.0 lineup, not a 11.3 lineup. The best players crowd into the best jets at 12.3. They can only get downtiered, so 11.3 is constantly uptiered. 11.0 is not. You can fit an 11.3 into an 11.0 lineup.

@AkiDaFloof If you put the SU-25 BM and MiG-23ML in your lineup (2-plane lineup), your br will be 11.0. However, if you put the MiG-21S and/or the prop plane in your lineup, it will go up to 11.3. The way Gaijin calculates BR is kinda asinine, but it's possible for a low BR plane to increase your BR, and that screws a lot of people up.
As for the missiles, the R-24s are good. The R-60M is very easy to flare, but it's very maneuverable. It will mow down people at very close range, or people without flares. Or you can use your R-24s, and them spam your R-60s at everyone and hope they aren't paying attention, then pull out to reload.

In realistic, you must understand the planes. In arcade, you must understand the planes and how to mess with people. Its too chaotic otherwise. Stay tuned for guides on that.
@Aoeilaeiepae by looking at your videos all you do is fire radar missiles at clueless level 15 F4S players straightlining at 2K alt. You don't have to understand your plane in arcade, which you demonstrate admirably by calling the MiG-21S a bad dogfighter.
@shinanodafloof4491 lol if you saw me fighting F-4S players, then I'm probably slinging AIM-9Ms at him. That's not a radar missile (but clearly I don't understand the game). Also, if all someone had is an F-4S, then they'd leave after I killed them once or twice. That means I couldn't rack up a huge body count off of those guys alone. Besides, my jets are 1.3 BR above them - I don't see many F-4s standalones, since our BR barely overlaps.
Oh, and I should clarify - dogfighting usually means turn-and-burn dogfights, but occasionally means any plane vs plane engagement. Like most people, I generally use the word in the former sense, but occasionally in the latter, and the intended meaning should be clear from context. However, when someone says a plane is a good/bad dogfighter, that is talking about its ability to turnfight. The MiG-21S has shockingly bad energy retention, so it is not an effective dogfighter. That's why you don't see me turnfight with it here - I'm using it to illustrate key concepts, which I will expand upon in part 2.
I'm glad I could help a new player such as yourself understand what a radar missile is, and whether or not the MiG-21 can dogfight.

@@maresybearsit has a very good turn rate, but no energy retention. So, yes, it turns, but it only gets one shot at you and then it's a sitting duck for you or anyone else. If one tries to turnfight you, just focus on dodging the first burst instead of matching its turn.

lets not forget that in addition to having unlimited ammo, the flight model lets you pull of things that are simply not possible. air arcade is not a simulation to any degree and 90% of your maneuvers wouldn't work with a realistic flight model, negating the claim to arcade needing "more skill". you might be one of the best arcade players, but at the end of the day the average realistic player is still more skilled at combat flight simulators.
