- BIG CSX Trains On Tight Curve In The City, Cars That Won't Stop For Trains, Louisville & Indiana Railroad Train Flashback Hits The Railroad Diamond & CSX Auto Racks Trains With DPU Locomotives & Freight Cars That Just Keep Coming! These trains are in Seymour, Indiana on CSX and L&I Tracks.
This video also features the Seymour Fire Department. We start the video with a fire engine on an emergency call as it is crossing the railroad crossing next to the city park. The first train is a GIGANTIC CSX auto racks train with a mid train DPU. This train is seen coming off the Louisville And Indiana Railroad mainline and entering its own track on the way from Louisville, Kentucky to Cincinnati Queensgate Yard. Several cars didn't want to wait for this train. The train took more than ten minutes to pass so you can't blame them.
Then we take a look at the city while waiting for the next train. We see an old train station and a Chessie System caboose. The crossing gates at a crossing next to the park were activated without a train for miles and miles. Scott, 1960gambit and I watched some of the traffic go around the gates. It was a little bit of entertainment. Just before the gates were activated I noticed that the switch was lined for the branch that goes toward St Louis. Right after the gates were activated I noticed that the track had switched for the line that goes from Cincinnati to Louisville. Could this be what activated the gates? It was almost two hours before the next train came.
The second train was another HUGE train with mid train DPU. This train was going the same route as the first train. We never did catch an L&I train so I put up an old video of an L&I manifest that I filmed in 2018. Notice the awesome locomotives! Also notice the old railroad signals that are now long gone in Seymour.
Don't miss the dogs and the slide show near the end of the video. We were in Seymour for over 8 hours and only got a couple of CSX trains. The CSX road freights on the line to Cincinnati only run in that one direction. CSX uses another line called The Short Line in Kentucky to run trains from Cincinnati to Louisville. Best frequencies to use in Seymour are 160.725 for L&I and 160.230 for CSX. You can also use 160.320 to listen to the CSX dispatcher and I recommend using the EOT frequency of 452.9375 to know when a train is in the area.
Filmed Friday, September 29, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Hello from Greece. 👋🇬🇷❤️🇺🇲🚂
Hello in Greece and thanks for watching my video!
Talk about a lot of gate runners! They were blasting through those railroad crossings! I thought it was bad in Hamilton, Ohio, but Seymour, Indiana takes the cake! Those two auto racks were super long that went through there. People today do not have any more patience, and they'd rather risk getting t-boned by a freight train thjan wait the train out.
There was some great art work on those cars
Definitely!
Hello my friend hope all is well with you and your family. Thanks for taking time to post your railfanning adventures
Thanks for watching
My mother is from Seymour and I have been traveling there for years from Cincy on highway 50 for years. As a kid in the 80s and 90s, we would see trains all the time. Even west of Seymour on the CSX line. Not today. The Octoberfest is good. If you like pork tenderloin sandwiches, the fireman’s booth was a home run. Also the best cantaloupe and watermelon come from Seymour (Jackson County). Might have just missed them though. Check with any locals on that.
I like the Louisville & Indiana -2s locos. Beautiful horn sound the way it should be.
One heck of an outing JT to satisfy us railfans! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. Great location. To bad drivers don't appreciate the trains. Rail crossings are the only red lights I love stopping for. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks 👍 Have a great railroad day also Lesa!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 🌟🖐🖐👍
The second auto rack was over two miles long. That's a lot of cars and trucks. Amazing! 😊😊😊
Yes, thanks. We went to Lawrenceburg, Indiana after it passed and got it a second time there in the streets
The Louisville and Indiana railroad is owned by the same company that owns the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad. One of the Louisville and Indiana Engines is up here on the Chicago line...
Ex 2005
Thank you for another fine video, and above all for your perseverance in feeding the inexhaustible subject of railroads and their environment every day. There's something new to discover every time. 😀
At least the two you saw, JT, where long trains which sort of made up for one you just missed at 10:30 AM. It's a good spot to film them from! It was good to see the flashback 2018 and Mrs. T.
Thanks for watching! The 2 trains that we saw would probably have been four trains about 10 years ago. They are making them too long. I wish I knew what happened to the video that Mrs Tooth was making. I don't remember it.
Thank you sir you are a great man i love trains very much
Thanks and welcome
That's the first L&I I've ever seen. Thanks. 😊😊
Our pleasure!
Nice paint job on the Louisville & Indiana locomotives, another great video JT, thanks!
🚒 have a great Sunday!
You too!
Now that was a long train wow
Wow...those runners.
I know, right?
Another great video of trains today and
those were really some monster trains on
the curve and those people are in to much
of a hurry not waiting for the trains, a really
great video today, no pets but still some great
trains going through Thanks Jaw Tooth.🤠👍
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
That is a sharp curve. Kudos to CSX for having some working grease-guns. :-)
Yes indeed!
Kind of neat the way the pavillion looks like a section of a roundhouse. Enjoyed the tour of the park. Excellent video, liked it much. Thanks JT!
Thanks for watching
Good stuff.
Great paint job on the Louisville and Indiana locomotives.
I was from Chicago, but I dated a girl in the 1980's from Seymour. I remember The Milwaukee Road going through. 👍 That freight station was the B&O/Milwaukee Road back in the day.
Very cool!
You put a lot of time and effort into filming trains. Thank you.
Thank you too!
Wow JT, I don't think I've ever seen a train as long as those two! They were never ending just amazing to me from the UK. I never tire of seeing them on your videos. Nice to see Seymour in Indiana interesting place, the bite the bullet gunshop is a great name although I'm not into guns at all. The malfunction of the crossing was very entertaining too. Thanks JT. Love to your furbabies. ❤😊A beautiful day in Seymour 😍
I hear that the Tastee Freez iin Seymour has a pretty good chilli dog! 🎶 🎶 🎵
The Louisville and Indiana engines are cool looking. They look new or refurbished. Nice paint color. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Glad you like them!
Good Morning to Brian and the gang.. Everyone have a blessed day.
Good Morning
Happy October
@@michaelhewitt258 Hi Mike.. 16 more days and I hit the big 70.. yikes!
Awesome video gotta love those malfunctioning gates and that's why I'm late watching today had to fix a gate great place great video thanks Brian and Scott
Thanks 👍
enjoy watching all your videos, i watch in honor & memory of my brother. he was a huge railfan. thanks again
When I see a caboose on display I can't help picturing it repurposed as a cabin or "tiny home." Plenty of room for a couple inside if you don't mind being close.
The L&I SDs look good and appear well cared for, especially the rebuilt SD40M2 leading.
Thanks JT!
Nice one JT. Especially liked the flashback to the L&I train. Thanks.
Thanks 👍
Nice! Louisville and Indiana SD45 and SD40-2! Cool!
Although that SD45 is very likely an SD40-2 on the inside. A lot of them were rebuilt as such.
The ‘45s lose the 20 cylinder engine when they are rebuilt and get a new or rebuilt 16 cylinder engine.
WOW that first train was really long good catch 😊
Another great video from Jaw Tooth. This place is awesome!! Thank you very much, have a nice day 😊🌈
Thank you 🤗
Absolutely fantastic video JT! Wow, those are some fine looking Louisville & Indiana locos in your flashback!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Many thanks!
Good morning I enjoyed the video👍👍
Good that you referenced Seymour, Indiana as John Cougar Mellencamp's hometown. Anyone who grew up in the 1980's will appreciate the reference. The video for "Small Town" was filmed in and around Seymour I believe. A staple of mid-1980's MTV.
I remember when MTV first came out. I was a student in Morehead Kentucky. That was a great program initially
@@JawToothmy aunt went to morehead university & graduated from there yrs ago
Cool, when did she graduate? I was there for four years and I graduated in 1983. Any chance she was there when I was?@@robertwhite9898
@@JawTooth I think she graduated some time in the late seventies. Her name is Judy White
I went to Morehead from 79 to 83. My last couple years were in Cartmell Hall and I could watch the trains from my dorm window. The tracks were removed in 85@@robertwhite9898
Nice shots of CSX auto rack trains, monster trains with mid helper DPU power and nice locations,Like the Louisville & Indiana EMDs!🛤🚂
Thank you very much!
That train covers an entire town
The tracks going around that abandoned grain elevator are cool. Nice catches too.
Thanks 👍
Always like the historical context you place in your videos. Thanks for telling us what that 1st trains cars were carrying. Wow! There must have been a lot of vehicles on that train. Like to view your videos as I can see areas of the country we will most likely never be able to visit in person as we operate a small thoroughbred farm & were busy all the time.
Glad you like them!
Probably delivering my Ford Lincoln... been waiting on that.
I like your shadow waving on the second train! Excellent videos!
Thank you very much!
Great video . Seymour looks like a beautiful clean well kept town, which is so lovely to see….
It really is!
Excellent job on this vid. I love the different and various subjects you added in the video. Too me makes it more interesting. And thank YOU for the John Mellencamp history. Just a great video. I see your antennas on the top of that grain silo too. I saw the JT shadow too! The close up as you were walking down that track was awesome too. That's the closest I have ever seen you get. Now you're coming back. JT shadow waving! Excellent job JT!!! You get the Gold Utube award for this one. LOUISVILLE INDIANA huh? Thanks, very enjoyable! Good looking doggies too! Take Care and stay safe JT. GOD Bless you! R✖️R
R✖️R CROSSING !!! 😊
Never disappointed amazing big train 🚆 great shots 👏 👍 👌
Thank you so much 😀
@@JawTooth no problem
Hi here in nsw Australia if we run the rail line gates like that we will get a big fine about $400
I used to see a CSX train in the morning on my way to work that would be waiting on river rd to go into the Queensgate yard. Then I would see it later in the afternoon headed north in the Spring Grove village area. Was normally all auto racks and sometimes would also have truck frames on it
super great video bro ❤❤❤❤
That first long train was crazy! Enjoyable video as always JT and look forward to the next as always!! Thank you!!
Thanks again!
You think it took a long time to go threw here be in Lawrenceburg when it crawls though in the middle of the st!
Funny you would say that. The same day that I filmed this I went to Lawrenceburg and filmed one in the street. It was a huge one just like this train.@@dougbutt5431
Awesome video JT. My mom had an old BF that would run past the gates to beat trains. This was in Pamona, California. He pulled this once with mom and I in the car.. needless to say, mom stopped dating him afterward. He scared the crap out of both of us.
Santa Fe RR run about 70mph thru this section. It's not worth your life for a cheap thrill.
I like the caboose, Chessie System. Cool JT.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, very interesting. I like the different angles other than a straight track. Well done
Those L & I units looked brand new, they were so clean. Thanks to you, we viewers get to not only watch your wonderful train videos and also get a toyr of the various locations you visit. I'll probably never get to visit those locations being out here on the West coast. Thank you so much!
Great video!
Thanks!
Hey fire, "feel the wrath of the big red machine." Masked Kane.
Nice catch on the cpkc autorack i had 11 on a autorack train
Thanks JT great spot
Any time!
Nice shadow wave from 60 gambit on the auto rack.
That was me waving
Excellent catch, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Not sure if you take suggestions, but what about a video showing what you do when waiting for hours between trains. Do you take naps, do push ups, go out to eat? Could be a really cool video!
That might be interesting. I try to look up info on the area that I am at and plan out different angles to film from if a train comes. I have to stay alert or a train will show up and I won't be ready. I rarely go anywhere to eat because that is when a train will come
Great catches and nice video jaw tooth
Thank you very much!
I met John Mellencamp many years ago when I was touring Indiana (where I grew up.) Seymour welcomed us and we played covers of his hit songs when he was doing his own tour. I would be lying if I said I got to "hang out" with him, but we were there!! I remember the disused towers that now have antennas on top, hard to forget. Those were indeed some long slow trains!
That is cool that you met him and you were doing covers of his songs! Awesome stuff. I wonder if they have bands play at that new pavilion in the video
He seems like someone who appreciates his fans ,without them he would still be working at the cable company
Thanks for the sunset shot. I love those.
Thanks for watching!
2 monsters! Auto racks are good for graffiti thanks for the video. Stay well roll on
Thanks! You too!
Lot oh train history here in seymour
Hi, I loved seeing the Chessie System caboose. My grandfather was a section gang worker for C & O railroad in the 1950s.
Awesome! Those were the good ole classic days of railroading
@@JawTooth oh yes. My mother remember when steam locomotives ruled the rails.
With all the runners over there, it was like Hamilton west, lol. A few months ago, I went to the Butler Institute of Art in Youngstown, OH and I saw artwork from John Mellencamp. He was coming into Youngstown for an art exhibition, which I thought was pretty cool.
Wow, that is cool! I would like to see that
Great video JT 👌👍👌
Thanks 👍
Thank you JT ...love the action...welcome to Indiana...your friend in Lafayette.
Thanks 👍
Good video Jawtooth
Awesome video with a dpu working hard but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
More to come!
One of the best things about this channel, ya never know what ya gunna ge! Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video JT. Seymour looks like a cool railfanning spot. Love the shot of your shadow on the train waving. JT getting all artistic on us railfans... 😊
Thanks for watching!
Its a shame you guys didn't get more action. Those Louisville & Indiana locomotives are nice.
I thought they were busier than that. When I was there 5 years ago they posted signs saying to expect increase in train volume and train length. It still hasn't materialised.
Awesome shot of train coming around the curve with the grain elevator behind it. Definitely would like to see more from this town. Great job!
I can't believe that there was one auto rack with no graffiti on it !
Excellent Video!
🌺🎄🇮🇳🎄🌺
Thanks Taslim!
Awesome video Jaw Tooth and enjoy the side show too enjoying watching too 🚂🚂🚂🚂👍😃😎♥️ AWESOME Jaw Tooth ❤
Thanks for watching!
Impressive video 👍.
Thank you 👍
Hi JT I didn't get a ice tea just a cup of coffee while watching your video. Awesome job with the quality .👍👍
Awesome! Thank you!
The Indiana & Louisvile is former Pennsylvania RR line from Indy to Louisville, and trackage rights for other railroads, ie. ACL for their passenger train "The Champion" to and from Florida...CSX is former B&O line from Cincy to St. Louis. In 1969 President Eisenhower's Funeral Train passed by here on way to St Louis. Both lines were well used back in their days. I remember particular the 50's. I think someplace there may also be some evidence of an interurban line from Indy to Louisville. Thanks for the video, brings back some railroad memories.
Many Thanks Jaw Tooth and @Steamer235 for the history! The Milwaukee Rd had a line into Seymour until around 1980, when it was abandoned.
Thanks for the info and for watching!
Mornin'
Most NB from L'ville to Cincinnati use this line and the SB's go down the line through La Grange. CSX recently spent a ton of money on the L&I to upgrade the line north of Seymour to Indianapolis for a more direct path to Chicago for the autoracks. If your in the area, check Franklin IN for a nice train museum. The section of town the rails go through look like "Mayberry" .
It’s been several years since the L&I upgrade was more or less complete.
Nice catch.
Thank you very much!
John M. doesn't live here anymore. Hasn't for decades.
No duh, but that's where he's from.
Dolly Parton hasn't lived in Sevierville in decades, but it's still where she was born. Same with John M. and Seymour
Good video, you are more patient than I am
I have been known to wait two days or more for the train lol
It's impressive there are no squealing wheels thru that curve at the 22 min mark.
I think the flange greaser on the curve is helping
Good Morning JT. Great video as always. That horn on the Louisville & Indiana lead engine was just awesome. The conductor/engeneer just laid on it, even after it went by you they were still blasting it. Cheers from Ontario 🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
I told Scott, 1960 Gambit, I came up with a new name for the AutoRack Train, BillBoard Express. And of Course Hobo Shoestring has a Hobo Shadow, so I called Scott's shadow: "1960 Waver" and your Shadow, Jaw Tooth's name is called: "Waver Tooth" LOL. Both being classic Train buddies, love ya'll videos and how you both show joint videos of the same trains with individual different expressions which makes it really cool. Thanks to you Both for making this old man have fun. 71 yrs old retired Tractor-Trailer Driver and Pastor, I am 100 percent disabled and absolutely love trains. Out of an average day on You-Tube, I watch about 4 hours of train videos. But the very best 2 Videos belong to Scott Gambit and Jaw Tooth, Thanks to you both, God bless You, Jaw Tooth.
Thanks for your support! I really appreciate it and I know Scott and Mark appreciate it also. We are going to get all three of us together in Tennessee soon. Those auto rack trains are interesting with all the graffiti. A couple of those cars look familiar. I'm going through my videos from Troy Ohio because I think I have a train there with several of those same auto racks. Anyway, thanks for watching and God bless!
Thanks so much , Jaw Tooth.@@JawTooth
Yes 😊😊
That last train was using their horn lots!
Awesome video as always JT keep it up 👍👍👍
Good morning
Morning
Another great video as usual! Thx for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Glad you like them!
Good morning from Lake isabella california. Mr. Tooth maybe do a train art video, just a thought. Thanks for all your effort in making these videos.
