I live in Dallas, and I have 2 handicapped kids. Even though Dallas is very accessible, there are so many places my kids cannot enjoy. I'mwatching this segment with tear in my eyes. There have been so many times when i have a hard time lifting my kid, or i have to walk away because the place doesn't have wheelchair accessible games. This park even has special chairs!!! How thoughtful!! I haven't taken a vacation in like 6 years! Im definitely taking one this year to take my kids to this park!! Thank you so much for sharing. ❤❤❤

I am a retired special education teacher. All my students were the most severely disabled. If I were still teaching I would ask my district to allow us to take my students (from arkansas) to this great place. If the band students can go to Disney World. Than the special ed kids should be able to go to this place!

That's something I would donate to. I was a TA in every grade until after high school and I hated the way special Ed kids were given almost NO consideration as far as trips and extras. They were hidden from the main student body and only given the chance to learn to service and labor.
I was always trying to advocate to get them trips to accessible things but as I was a "bad kid" I wasn't taken seriously...

While I understand a lot of these are for younger people, it's so incredibly important for even the most accessible park, to have fat-accessibility to them. Some parents of kids especially if they're disabled, who want or even need to ride with them, need the ability to fit on them if they are bigger, while even those this park is aimed at, may also be big. And the constant shade is a HUGE thing that yeah every park absolutely needs. Especially here in San Antonio, it gets hotter than an industrial oven. And when you're handling people with disabilities and other medical conditions, heat exhaustion can be a serious problem. I personally don't think I will drop by this park (though the fishing is super cool), but there definitely needs to be more parks like this across the globe.
This was a great watch, thank you!!

Sorry not sorry. it’s seriously so selfish and entitled to complain about a park not being accessible to obese people. They literally have made this park inclusive for soooo many fucking types of disabilities and illnesses. That’s what it’s really about. You understand that those are things that people didn’t ask for? And can not ever change???
if you got kids disabled and wanna take them here, but you’re obese, you should be losing weight anyways because of the fact that an obese parent cannot live long enough, or do enough to care for a disabled child. Especially not one that is going to be disabled for life. So IF that was anyone’s scenario, they would need to stop being entitled and selfish, and lose the weight so they can care for their child. And yes it is a disease to be obese, but that is one that can be changed!! Stop tryna hate on this park over YOUR issue. That’s so insane for real. Also why would anyone intolerant to the heat go to a park like this anyways ?? It’s literally in Texas. Maybe it’s open more times of the year than just summer? Even if it’s not, as someone intolerant to the heat due to health issues, I wouldn’t go, and if I did, I don’t complain about shit. The world is hot. I’d be able to take things myself to keep myself cool.

    Thank you for "fat testing".
Not many realize that weight issues effect disabled people for many reasons.
I had a friend in high school who had cancer and was on steroids causing him to gain a large amount of weight.
Steroids also caused weight gain with my son's 13 year old half brother. He has Duchennes muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair bound... breaks my heart that he has to to through that.
Being fat is not always a life style choice, especially when it comes to physical illness and disability.
Since you've no way of knowing a person's story, just try being kind to everyone!!!

I don’t agree, I understand weight is an issue but at what cost should everywhere have to accommodate for size? The extra cost of making things at a larger scale etc, he has already made an accessible park for young people, it’s mainly for people with disability, being overweight isn’t a disability because it can be improved regardless of thyroid condition, this kind of park isn’t made with over weight adults in mind 🤷‍♀️ watch the documentary. His daughter is well over 6 foot tall so height isn’t an issue 👀

Many people that are physically disabled have weight issues for different reasons like medication side effects, hormone/brain dysfunction or lack of mobility/ depression.
My son's half brother is just a little boy that will die from Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. He takes steroids to slow the disease progression but they've caused him massive weight gain.
I had friend that had cancer and also gained large amount of weight due to steroids.
One of the little girls I used to care for had a brain injury that caused her to gain more weight than an obese adult

    • @Zzz2x
      @Zzz2x Před 14 dny

@@Almanatrixyou can’t gain weight without eating. Fluid retention is different than obesity. But you cannot gain fat to be obese without eating the calories, and not burning enough calories. While yes, us who are disabled can struggle with weight, it’s still a personal issue that CAN be changed. Disabilities cannot be changed. Therefore if someone obese wants to go, they should make a goal of losing weight. I’m sure an obese child can do tons at this park. But a parent should do more for their child than allowing them to be obese, as well as having to deal with disability
