    ✅ About jlwii2000:
When I started my channel I did not choose a catchy name because I did not think that I would be a major model railroading video source one day, so I apologize for the strange name. My channel has a variety of info about Model Railroading in many scales, primarily HO scale. I try to respond to everyone's questions to help them along with their journey. Overall, I hope my relaxed yet descriptive approach to modeling will assist those new and old in this great hobby. - James

I live like 200 feet from the railroad tracks. A year ago when the real Big Boy came through my town you could hear that whistle from way far away, almost erie feeling. Then I could see the smoke approaching through the trees. It was really something else.

In 1963 my grandfather bought me a Lionel train set for Christmas. One day when it was raining, I decided to try to set it up. But there wasn't enough room. So I placed everything back as it came and slid the box under my bed. 37 years later, I asked my mom if my train was still there. She said, "yes, it's in the attic." Well, it wasn't in the attic. It wasn't anywhere. She had given it to Goodwill. A BRAND NEW LIONEL TRAIN SET!

That's a terrible 😔 feeling! I never had a train set of any kind, but I remember having a foot locker full of comic books back in 1974. Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk and so many others! My mother forced me to get rid of them, giving them to my cousin in Wisconsin. With the value of those comics now, I could have had quite a bit of money! I can understand how you feel.

Later on I got to see the actual 4014 namesake of this Lionel replica. Well done. Of course, this come from someone who chased a Ringling Brothers Circus train across Wyoming to shoot photos and video. If you don’t like trains, you have a hole in your soul.

Thank you so much for keeping my childhood alive and so much inginuity and improvements. Im at the stage of my life where its time to do my own thing. My older cousin had a set that was passed to him from my Grandfather. When my Grandmother passed in 1997 , everything was to go to me. My Greedy, black hearted Aunt threw everything in a dumpster so she said( yeah right. I believe that!). In spite of me she sold it all! Six sheets of Half inch plywood with the layout of the East Syracuse NY to the Minoa NY railyard with the hump that actually functioned most of the time that started in the basement, went up along the stairs to the living room, gradually climbed tothe ceiling in the dining room, circled around. And headed back down to the basement.I was fascinated with the layout and every Christmas Santa (meaning me) would get a new structure or scenery every year. The next season it would be added until Grandpa passed in 1978. Every year until Grandma started showing her dismay and it really started hurting inside we finally decided to pack it up.My Grimy Aunt resembled the wicked witch on the Wizard of Oz in spirit and believe it or not HER LOOKS! HOMELY SEAHAG SHE IS!! If it wasn't against the law,she wouldn't breathe another breath for what she stole from the family. Not only the train set, but the memories we cherished. A few of us have VHS tapes to remember and old reel to reels but she destroyed so much of us. I hope and pray no one else has had their memories stolen from them , but if so I feel for you. Thank you for reminding me about my Grandpa. BTW, my great Uncle worked for NY Central years ago too.

This reminds me of my grandfather’s train sets from my early memories of the 1950s. His tracks had 3 rails per section just like that and the engines were huge to me, so I’m guessing his were O scale too. He worked 50 years on the West Point Route. He passed when I was 5, thanks for the memories.
