  • In this video we are measuring the ignition coils with a multimeter.
Cover the throttle bodies to prevent dirt from falling in. I forgot to do it as I'm focusing on the video rather than the bike

The next time you change the spark plugs or check the coils, you can easily access the screws on top of the coils from the front with a wrench. Give it a try...it was so much easier than using a swivel.

    Nice video!
I have removed the stock clamp on the hose under the air filter box and replaced it with an adjustable clamp. The type that is adjusted with a screw on the side.

Good stuff I just found some dampness in 1 of my plugs the other day water seems to be getting in I put an extra o ring on the coil stick and greased the top of them all so fingers crossed. The bike wasn't running 100% and had backfired once or twice.

If the coils didn't short circuit for too long your bike should be running fine now. Fingers crossed 😊

Hi thanks for sharing. If i may have two comments
    1. Would be wise to cover the throttle bodies while you mess around that area...
    2. I saw that your Coils protective rubbers did stick to the engine cover not the coil. In another video of yours i saw you applied some HT silicon to the rubbers to prevent water leaking inside the coil / wells. So is that the effect of the silicon you put under the rubber covers ? Thanks
P.S. The big plastic box you removed is called "Air Box" not "Air Filter" :-)
    Nice videos keep going !

Hi thanks for the feedback. I honestly forgot to cover the throttle bodies as I'm new to filming things and when you have to focus on two things then this happens. My apologies. The rubber is sticking to the engine cover because of the silicone but you can get them off as well. If there is a better solution to the water problem please feel free to give suggestions. This is what most mechanics do. Apologies also for naming things wrong. I'm sure I did it many times in other videos too. I will work on this.

      @@MarcoBelcastro Thanks Marco.
Yes the HT silicon i've seen it is the common method of making the ports more sealed than stock. I was just wondering how sticky that would become in time but it seems as you say it can be removed easily. I have the S10 in my radar screen as next bike :-)

I guess it depends on silicone. Get the 2014 model and you won't have to deal with non of it.

@@MarcoBelcastro Actually yes was looking at the 2nd edition 2014 on (and likely ZE).
I Didn't know that the coils had changed (or improved seals) in that model. Thanks again

@@oc_geek337 They modified the cylinder head. Old part was 23P111900100 new part is 2BS1119001. I did not check the actual coils but it appears that this has solved the problem.

    • @Freedomachine
      @Freedomachine  Před rokem +1

No because I measure the multimeter lead resistance and it's not zero so I assume that I'm within specifications. I explain this in the video.
