    I left 2 MVP Proton Atoms (2016 runs) Outdoors for 1 year....surprisingly.
    The plastic was more tacky, but they were still more overstable than the 2024 version. I was hoping for them to be close to the 3,3,0,1...nope. It changed the feeling, but not the stability.
    (Never thrown for 1 year, just enjoying the weather of Chattanooga Tennessee)

    So, in other words, if you bag sustainable discs, they will avoid trees and let you park the hole? I'm in. No, really, I think it is admirable that you are spearheading recycled plastic in disc manufacture. I'm sure most blow, injection and vacuum molders are doing the same, regardless of what they are making, but it's nice to see you tooting the horn.

    I know Innova did some R-Pro discs with wood in them. I assume they're old and very expensive so I haven't tried to find one yet.
    I played disc golf a few times way back in the day, 2009/2010 and I remember trying to find Teebirds in every plastic they made. I remember having one in Echo plastic and it had a sticker on it that looked so cool I refused to take it off. I lost it not too long after I got it. Apparently looking back on it, it might have been a first run echo Teebird. Oh well.

    Interested to see how fast the bernoulli discs biodigrades. If you loose a "normal" disc it is still usable if it has been outside for a while. But if a disc looses it's structural integrity it can not be used and have to be replaced faster than nonbiodegradable. Would be intresting to have a base nd premium plastic comparison to the bernoulli discs.

    Remember the most ecological bag you can possibly build are used discs from places like play it again sports or ebay. New manufacturing, eco friendly or not, will never compare to using something that has already been created. I'm not accusing Jesse of not being aware of this, i'm sure he is and has likely said it before in his videos - I haven't watched all of them. I love Trash Panda's mission, keep up the good work.

  • @Hollyandkarma2011
    @Hollyandkarma2011 Před 17 dny +5

    My only gripe with manufacturer 100% regrind defects disc is that the all the energy/fuel, and labor used in shipping and manufacturing is wasted on discs never thrown or used so net zero usage compared to trash panda which use recycled discs that have been used in some varying degrees so there is some usage of that labor and energy/fuel before being re-ground. I appreciate companies wanting to participate in sustainable products but this is more green washing marketing than actual sustainability processing.

  • @kramerbookman512

    Okay, so maybe someone can help me understand....So Prodigy buys a bunch of virgin resins, molds a bunch of discs, grinds up the defects and remolds them into other new discs, and then gets to call them "100% recycled"? That seems deceptive. I mean, it's absolutely better than just throwing the defects in the landfill, but it definitely doesn't seem to be fair to call something you make from new resins purchased a week ago recycled just because you screwed it up the first time. And it DEFINITELY doesn't seem fair to call that sustainable consumerism, because that disc is still manufactured from new resins that never even made it out of the initial manufacturing facility, meaning that it is still introducing 175 grams or whatever of new plastic to the planet.
    I'm not saying these aren't good things for the manufacturers to be doing, but it ultimately just feels like another marketing gimmick to say that they are "recycled" or "sustainable", just like how people pat themselves on the back for spending $90K on a new Tesla full of plastics and mined materials instead of just buying a used Corolla or actually using the car they already own for its entire lifecycle. Same with this, if you are concerned about these sorts of things, it's a lot more sustainable to just build your bag with used discs. Buying new will always encourage the production of more new, which is fine by me, I'm very pro-business, but don't pretend its "responsible" or "sustainable".
