Don’t know much about Circus Circus as a hotel but I did have a dealing directly with management many years ago and have to say I was quite surprised. Long story short… I was traveling to the west coast then up to Alaska from Florida with my grandparents in their motor home and decided to spend a couple evenings at C.C. as they had motor home parking. Well, My grandmother had a very major heart attack that first night which resulted in a 5-way heart bypass and an over 3 month stay in the hospital. C.C. management let me and my grandfather stay there the entire time for 100% free. And not only were they weren’t making anything off of it bc neither of us were in the mood for gambling or anything like that, but they were constantly giving us food vouchers to eat for free. They never pressured us about leaving anything at all. They were amazing. They went way above and beyond what would be expected and all bc it was the right thing to do. I will never forget that act of kindness.
This actually sold me on the stratosphere. I dont care if my room is a dump because were gonna be hanging out at the Venetian and Palazzo all day anyway 😂
I was gonna go with the Strat because of the price but its location isn't ideal. The Strat is way up on the north end of the strip so you'd have to take an Uber or Lyft if you wanna hang at Palazzo or other properties. Google maps says it's a 46 minute walk.
Walk across the street and take the tram in the back of Sahara. It goes all the way to MGM. Not very many people know about it. Cost $7... I believe. I use it often when I stay at the Sahara.
I stayed at the Rio and would stay again because it was the biggest room but too far from the strip for me BUT I SAW NO CATS 😢 where do they congregate?!? I’ll stay again and Find them! 😂
My Grandma worked there for a long time I went to Circus Circus when I was 9 years old and nobody tried to kidnapped me. I don't remember any childhood trauma whatsoever but that's just my opinion.

Taxes are taxes, and the tax rate is 13.something%. Resort fees are fees that go to the resort. They're supposed to be for amenities like the pool or gym, but because of their deceptive practices hotels just charge them and don't have to advertise them in the nightly room rate.

The prices listed dont include resort fees and taxes, just letting you know from someone who just got back from Vegas. Also Luxor isn't bad, just get a room in a tower instead of the pyramid if ur worried about the elevators (which i agree the pyramid had kind of a scary elevator)
Tbh Luxor isn’t bad I’ve stayed there the only issue are the elevators but other than that the resort don’t got problems. Circus circus isn’t awful but just make sure you reserve a tower room, the back rooms are actually disgusting

I live in Vegas, and, I love the Luxor, to be honest. It was my grandpa's favorite before he died, so whenever I go, I feel better. They also have a great restaurant with chicken and waffles. Talking another the elevators and such though, it gave me an incredible fear of heights.

As someone who usually travels in Asia, US hotel fees feel like a total scam. In Japan or Korea, if a room is $50, it's freaking $50 flat! No tax or resort fees or other BS stuff added.
Luxor is one of my favorite hotels to stay at. We've stayed there almost every time in Vegas. Those Pyramid elevators, or inclinators are very neat. The Tower rooms at Luxor are very nice.

you must remember two things. 1) You come here to Vegas to see the sites not to stay in your room. 2) You pay for what you get and you're getting a safe place to sleep and store your belongings.
To be honest there’s not too many sites in Vegas or things to do. Like there’s defiantly a lot, but you could power through most of it in a couple days. A lot of what makes Vegas nice is just the resorts and the rooms
I stayed there too. My room was large and clean. The only bad thing I encountered was a s*x trafficker on my floor who approached me. They later got arrested.
It's sad because all of these hotels were amazing, new and glamorous at one time. We stayed at the Rio when they had the sky show and A list performers. I guess most of the casinos have a shelf life.

@@TheGreen8astard The pandemic and the whole inflation issue really took a toll on a lot of resorts in vegas. Plus there's a ton of new construction for newer, more modern resorts so these older resorts are really showing their age now
When I was a kid, circus circus was the place me and my cousins got abandoned once every few months while the adults went off to gamble. Lol I do recall that we never stayed there, though.

I got married in Vegas. Wife and I had played a vegas app for a few months and got free suites at Luxor, Circus Circus, and the Strat. Very iconic casinos in decent spots and cool suites. Only spent a few hours a night in the rooms so no use spending hundreds.
We stayed at the Luxor our first night in north America travelled for the next 3 weeks and that hotel was the best hotel in America and Canada and the only one with a walk in shower.
You clearly are unaware that MOST hotels have feral (community) cat colonies. They keep away the mice and rats. As a cat rescue group here in Las Vegas we help to maintain the health of these wonderful sweet cats.
I stayed at the Luxor about 7 yrs ago The place was overrun with hookers lounging around the entrances. The a/c didn’t work well in the room and the room lighting was so dim I could hardly see to get dressed. Will never return!
Vegas Local here. Friends part of Luxor Management. They do a daily inspection of all of the rooms, and every facility in their building. It’s part of protocol, and they have cleaning people working around the clock to make sure that it’s extremely clean. I personally visited last week when I saw my friend, and it was very clean.
Loved my stay and nope not hired. I’m a travel agent and love the Egyptian pyramids! Love the room I had with jacuzzi… great atmosphere and right across from gas station
I've always wanted to stay in the Luxor and I visit it everytime I go to Vegas, I was just thinking I'd like to stay in their king size room with a soaking tub with the window view 😌
The cats are great! Even if one scratched me, which led to cat scratch fever, then a very infected arm, and finally a partially amputated hand. I still love cats and staying there though.

I stayed in the Strat in 2019,the room was really nice as well as staff and I actually liked the food they served there.The only downside would be it’s so far up on the strip that’s it’s away from main attractions.

Don't do it!!!!!! I'm telling you!!! I was there in OCT 23. It was such a bad experience. The sheets were not changed in the hotel room. There was the previous guests used soap in the bathroom still. Not to mention. . . . How horrible the smell was!!!!!! DO NOT EVER GO TO THE RIO!!!!!!!!

I just stayed at the Rio, it wasn’t bad as a hotel. Stayed in their recently renovated rooms and it was super clean. I only used it as a hotel not as a restaurant or casino. Free parking. They are remodeling their casino floor so expect major improvements!
Just time. There’s so many new casinos constantly built in Vegas the OG ones are just slowly falling out of style. They really gotta renovate a lot of these if they hope to stand a chance in the market

I stay at the Rio all the time. The rooms have always been clean, no mold anywhere and I have yet to see a cat. Things have changed recently since the sale, I have to go to other casinos to play poker, but I still am comped for my room.
Just stayed at RIO last week honestly not bad. Room was very nice for $27 a night. The sports bar was kind of weird but the food was actually pretty good. I didn’t play any tables but still had fun wondering the casino🤷🏼♂️

My friend and I stayed at a Paris but one taco cost $8.00, with tea for $12 We ate at Ellis Island. An entire meal with a drink, cost $9.99 plus tax and it was clean and smelled nice inside.

I also know Elis island had that $13.99(? - if you used your players card with at least $5 slot play) Chicken and Ribs dinner at the BBQ place next to the Cafe that was an amazing deal! I have visited all of those casinos, but I have never stayed at any of them, and when I did last go inside for more than 15 minutes that was more than two decades ago. That was a time when the Frontier, Hooters, Klondike, Monte Carlo, and Aladdin casinos still existed.
I stayed at the Luxor twice in the last 5 month's & I have seen nothing she talking about. The Elevators she talking about are in the Pyramid they don't go up & down they go sideways at a angle they tell you that on the Elevator it's a Trinagle sign Big as day.
I stayed at the Tropicana recently. Only issue was no elevators from back parking lot up to the first hotel floor. Was an issue for one in my party who couldn’t walk up stairs and had to go all the way to the front and walk all the way to the back.
@@jdubbmrgng2232 an elevator did not exist at all. Nothing was out of order. The only way to get from the back parking lot to the hotel level was to use stairs or go all the way back to the front and trek through the casino to the back where the hotel is. Once you were at the bottom floor of the hotel there were elevators leading up to the rooms.
I stayed in Circus Circus on my first visit to Vegas. It's fine, not as dramatically bad as depicted. Floors were sticky but so were the high end places. Location was fine, amusements were fine, pool was nice. It's fine if u just wanna party
i stayed at the luxor, and got upgraded from the gamer suite to the luxery suite at no extra cost...2 nights costs me 180 bucks but the room was larger, had 2 entrances, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a wet bar, a dining room, a lviing room, and a HUGE bedroom...not to mention the bathroom was as large as an apartment unto itself...
Been to Vegas about 90 times over the past 40 years, mostly on business, and stayed in most hotels expect Bellagio and Caesar’s. Room rates there were always outside my per diem rate when I was in town. The worst was Circus-Circus. The best -The Encore. The hidden gem was Golden Nugget in old town. I liked Ballys and Paris when they were new, but like the Luxor, the MGM and Hiltons they were never updated. Best advice: stay at the best hotel you can afford. You don’t “just sleep there”….your hotel can be a destination in itself, so dont stay in a cheap room, you will regret it.
But these are all the super fun historical ones with the vibes that still remind me of the seventies. Why is everybody trying to destroy all the things that we love? 😖

Went last week and the top of the world restaurant was amazing! And I liked the laid back vibe and not so crowded scene. (Was still kinda crowded just not as crazy as the main strip hotels).

Get the upgraded rooms at Strat they are fine for the money. The only down side is location, but if you have a car it's no issue.

The Rio's actually a good deal. It's past its prime but for the money it's acceptable. And as a cat sanctuary it's pretty nice.

$1950 a month with free Water Electric a Pool and I believe Cable and maybe wifi and places in Vegas are 1,200-2,400+ a month not including Water Electric and whatever else you pay for the month
you must remember two things. 1) You come here to Vegas to see the sites not to stay in your room. 2) You pay for what you get and you're getting a safe place to sleep and store your belongings.

To be honest there’s not too many sites in Vegas or things to do. Like there’s defiantly a lot, but you could power through most of it in a couple days. A lot of what makes Vegas nice is just the resorts and the rooms

The Tropicana in the Luxor are not that bad you’re probably the reason they’re tearing down all the cool hotels

I stayed there too. My room was large and clean. The only bad thing I encountered was a s*x trafficker on my floor who approached me. They later got arrested.

It's sad because all of these hotels were amazing, new and glamorous at one time. We stayed at the Rio when they had the sky show and A list performers. I guess most of the casinos have a shelf life.

It's hard for a hotel/casino to stay "hot" for long, especially one like the Rio which is off the strip. I feel like you don't have personal experience on this topic, or maybe you own stock in one of these "seen better times" properties 🫤.

@@TheGreen8astard The pandemic and the whole inflation issue really took a toll on a lot of resorts in vegas. Plus there's a ton of new construction for newer, more modern resorts so these older resorts are really showing their age now
When I was a kid, circus circus was the place me and my cousins got abandoned once every few months while the adults went off to gamble. Lol I do recall that we never stayed there, though.

I got married in Vegas. Wife and I had played a vegas app for a few months and got free suites at Luxor, Circus Circus, and the Strat. Very iconic casinos in decent spots and cool suites. Only spent a few hours a night in the rooms so no use spending hundreds.
I would be that one person who would stay there only because of the feral cats

We stayed at the Luxor our first night in north America travelled for the next 3 weeks and that hotel was the best hotel in America and Canada and the only one with a walk in shower.
You clearly are unaware that MOST hotels have feral (community) cat colonies. They keep away the mice and rats. As a cat rescue group here in Las Vegas we help to maintain the health of these wonderful sweet cats.

The Luxor is actually not bad and is a good deal.
I was there in 2021 and no mold. The room we were in was wonderful and we had a great view of the sphinx
I stayed at the Luxor about 7 yrs ago The place was overrun with hookers lounging around the entrances. The a/c didn’t work well in the room and the room lighting was so dim I could hardly see to get dressed. Will never return!
i went in 2022 and it was really nice!
I went spring of 2023 and it was perfectly fine. Not a luxury stay, but clean.
I kinda love the back room/liminal anxiety vibes these hotels are giving off! And the feral cats are a plus for me!

Vegas Local here. Friends part of Luxor Management.
They do a daily inspection of all of the rooms, and every facility in their building. It’s part of protocol, and they have cleaning people working around the clock to make sure that it’s extremely clean. I personally visited last week when I saw my friend, and it was very clean.

Circus circus is super amazing and fun. It has a whole Waterpark and indoor amusement park. Plus great food and fun stores!!
The Tropicana is long gone to make way for the A's new ballpark.

I stayed in the Strat in 2019,the room was really nice as well as staff and I actually liked the food they served there.The only downside would be it’s so far up on the strip that’s it’s away from main attractions.
My mom took us kids to Vegas back in the early 00’s. We stayed at CircusCircus and had a blast. This lady has snob vibes for sure.

Don't do it!!!!!! I'm telling you!!! I was there in OCT 23. It was such a bad experience. The sheets were not changed in the hotel room. There was the previous guests used soap in the bathroom still. Not to mention. . . . How horrible the smell was!!!!!! DO NOT EVER GO TO THE RIO!!!!!!!!

I just stayed at the Rio, it wasn’t bad as a hotel. Stayed in their recently renovated rooms and it was super clean. I only used it as a hotel not as a restaurant or casino. Free parking. They are remodeling their casino floor so expect major improvements!

I stay at the Rio all the time. The rooms have always been clean, no mold anywhere and I have yet to see a cat. Things have changed recently since the sale, I have to go to other casinos to play poker, but I still am comped for my room.
Just stayed at RIO last week honestly not bad. Room was very nice for $27 a night. The sports bar was kind of weird but the food was actually pretty good. I didn’t play any tables but still had fun wondering the casino🤷🏼♂️

We ate at Ellis Island. An entire meal with a drink, cost $9.99 plus tax and it was clean and smelled nice inside.

I have visited all of those casinos, but I have never stayed at any of them, and when I did last go inside for more than 15 minutes that was more than two decades ago. That was a time when the Frontier, Hooters, Klondike, Monte Carlo, and Aladdin casinos still existed.
I honestly liked the Luxor. Room was decent and the drinks were good. Also liked being able to walk to 2 other hotels/casino without going outside.
I stayed at the Luxor twice in the last 5 month's & I have seen nothing she talking about.
The Elevators she talking about are in the Pyramid they don't go up & down they go sideways at a angle they tell you that on the Elevator it's a Trinagle sign Big as day.
I stayed at the Tropicana recently. Only issue was no elevators from back parking lot up to the first hotel floor. Was an issue for one in my party who couldn’t walk up stairs and had to go all the way to the front and walk all the way to the back.

@@jdubbmrgng2232 an elevator did not exist at all. Nothing was out of order. The only way to get from the back parking lot to the hotel level was to use stairs or go all the way back to the front and trek through the casino to the back where the hotel is. Once you were at the bottom floor of the hotel there were elevators leading up to the rooms.
I agree, I stay at the Luxor a few times a year. I don't like the pyramid rooms, but always stay in the tower suites anyway.. Love the place

I stayed in Circus Circus on my first visit to Vegas.
It's fine, not as dramatically bad as depicted.
Floors were sticky but so were the high end places.
Location was fine, amusements were fine, pool was nice.

i stayed at the luxor, and got upgraded from the gamer suite to the luxery suite at no extra cost...2 nights costs me 180 bucks but the room was larger, had 2 entrances, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a wet bar, a dining room, a lviing room, and a HUGE bedroom...not to mention the bathroom was as large as an apartment unto itself...
I don't know why you would say you should never stay at these hotels... some people travel on a budget.

MGM has cleaned up Luxor and it's quite excellent
Been to Vegas about 90 times over the past 40 years, mostly on business, and stayed in most hotels expect Bellagio and Caesar’s. Room rates there were always outside my per diem rate when I was in town. The worst was Circus-Circus. The best -The Encore. The hidden gem was Golden Nugget in old town. I liked Ballys and Paris when they were new, but like the Luxor, the MGM and Hiltons they were never updated. Best advice: stay at the best hotel you can afford. You don’t “just sleep there”….your hotel can be a destination in itself, so dont stay in a cheap room, you will regret it.
I actually thoroughly enjoyed the strat during my recent stay. Our room was clean, cold, and comfy!

Went last week and the top of the world restaurant was amazing! And I liked the laid back vibe and not so crowded scene. (Was still kinda crowded just not as crazy as the main strip hotels).

the Rio isn't actually bad. we stay there when in town for the trade show. i've never had any issues. i was actually surprised to see it on this list.
