Frank Bello, bassist of Anthrax, performs their hit song 'Caught in a Mosh' at London Bass Guitar Show 2014 at Olympia Conference Centre, London. I met Frank afterwards - such a nice man! He told me to keep playing the bass, asked what bass I played (I said Fender and he punched his fist to the sky!). I also got a signed photo and a picture with him. :)
And a big thank you to my parents for a fantastic weekend! X

lol... and in other comments you are defending Metallica which bass lines are doubling guitar all the time which I don't think is that bad, but you are not going to listen bass arrangements in any of the big 4 bands if it's not Anthrax. The only thing that is similar in bass distinction were Cliff solos which are basically guitar solos on a bass

I remember me and him had a “chat “ at a slayer concert and while I was surviving in a crowd he kept trying to throw me picks but after many failed attempts we both gave up looked at each, put up the horns and said “you rock”.

Definitely... first time i heard Anthrax it was their album Among the Living and hearing the thunderous bass on that album made me a fan instantly... Frankie is criminally underrated. He's the most down to earth rockstar you'll ever meet also, it was a pleasure chatting with him for a few minutes before a show

One of the reasons why I started to play bass! I'm not even joking if I say that Bello changed how I see Metal music forever.
Always loved that Punk Edge ANTHRAX has. So Metal. Makes me mosh, even today !

Maybe his picking style looks a bit like Steves. But completely different Tone and patterns.
There are definitely a pattern or two in there that are definitely have a touch of Harris in there, yes different tone and not all the patterns are the same (Id hope not) but its definitely there.
It's so awesome seeing Frank play, you can tell he really loves playing his instrument

Bello is a definite class act. Ridiculously cool to see him at something like this. A true thrasher through and through and a phenomenal bass player. Even at a demo he's a crazy headbanger! Too cool!!

@@akidk1499 yes he's also a great bass player. Dave plays with a pick and Frank his fingers, so you can't really compare them.They are both great musicians, and each does exactly what you want a bassist to do in a band.

@@jorgevillanueva3776 Cliff Burton was dead by the time the "Big4" played live together. Was the Big 4 concept even around in 1986? Also Cliff is overrated, he was a brilliant bassist, but he wasn't perfect. Listen to the bass only early Metallica stuff he played on.

loved Frank ever since his bits on the big 4 behind the scenes. he's just a metal fan that happens to play in a huge band. in fact all the Anthrax guys are like that, they're relatable. Dave and the Metallica guys have a bit of a 'big time' attitude about them while the rest all seem very down to earth
Mr. Harris, thank you for inspiring whole generation of fantastic stand alone bass players and Mr. Bello you carry that torch as well as anyone has throughout the years.and not just a great player but a hell of a nice and real dude too. Can't wait for the next Anthrax album

As someone who just picked up a bass last year, at age 56, I've had trouble learning to play with a pick...it just feels funky. Now I know that there will be a time that I'm going to master it, but watching Bello play these riffs with his fingers? I feel like there is still hope for me... I doubt I'll ever get half as good as Bello...I'd be happy to be 1/16th as good.. LOL...I'ma gonna keep practicing!

I saw Anthrax years ago during the Clash of the Titans tour. From what I've seen on CZcams, they still have that same energy and intensity today like they had back then. Go see them if you get a chance too!!!!!
He has so much fun when he plays. His energy is just like everyone in the band. That’s why they were the happy go lucky, tongue in cheek. They couldn’t take themselves that serious when they were having that much fun.

one of my fave bassists, I put him and Mike Leon of Havok as my main 2 for their skillset, normally I'm a pick player but I've worked my skill a bit better with fingers, mostly listening to Havok's Point of No Return EP, also a fan of Michael Lepond from Symphony X and Thomas Miller

We saw the original crew at the Starland Ballroom in Jersey when they taped the live dvd. Frank tossed a pick and it landed by my boot. Still have that with my other memorabilia.

Steve harris is a big influence on Frank Bello eze you can already tell..... But that rhythm section for anthrax was the best out there and Scott Ian rhythm guitar in metal is the best since Malcom Young. Oh yeah Dan Spitz was an amazing soloist. No lead player they have had since him has been as good. In my book.
Dave Ellefson and Gar Samuelson of Megadeth were an awesome rhythm section.

I’ve gone back listening to thrax over past year and yeah, they are better than Metallica. The thing I absolutely love about these guys is the kiss influence. I hear it in thier songs.

Ever since Metallica sued their fans for illegally sharing their music, I have had a hard time with them. Typically (in my opinion) that is how heavy music gets publicity. They rarely play any heavy music on the radio, so sharing is the best way to get out there. So it is like suing the people that got you famous in the first place. Speaking of bassists though, Cliff Burton was one of my favorite bassists. Jason Newstead is good, Robert Trujillo isn't as innovative as the others.
anthrax singer can still sing like he did way back the lead guitarist actually has good tehnique, and the drummer does more than the same few things its obvious who is better NOW
Anthrax for me is the best out of the 4 because of their consistency to playing and making music today
