I'm pretty sure that if you took the body off from both this and the BR Class 172, they'd be nearly identical (the only significant difference being the railway gauge).
172/4000/195/196/197 all use the same basic combination of MTU 6H 1800 Series engines with ZF Ecomat/EcoLife 6-speed gearboxes. The C4K could've actually been the 172 in Irish/NI gauge, which Bombardier offered, but they lost out to CAF.

Nice video Matty why are these never used on ConnollyStation/Belfast services but the 3000 are used.
Thanks the problem is the 4000s do not have CAWS or IE Train Radios so at present they are not allowed south of the border.
