- We look at the strengths and weaknesses of each fighter the Cl 13 and the Mig17
as a CL we use the Mig17 weaknesses and strengths against it, using a trick i learned "Rock the baby" - Hry
CL completely outpeforms the MiG-17 at higher speed at almost all metrics. Yes it has worse accel at lower speeds but when you go to about 650 the cl will already start pulling away and over that 850kph mark its done deal. You keep your energy way better and he struggles to maintain it above 1000. While you can casually cruise at 1100 he needs almost all of spain to reach that himself.
If he does outaccel you however, hes running min fuel and you can just keep him on a line for a few minutes and hes dry

the mig17 isnt faster than the CL13, also in a direct turning engagement the CL13 also turns better, the CL13 also has better energy retention and the mig17 has worse high speed acceleration.

For me it’s basically force him to dogfight you in low alt if he doesn’t ignore since if you follow him high alt you are going to die. Mig 17, 15 15bis normally will try to drain your energy by doing rope a dope and in order to fill up their weakness on low velocity cannons which fucks you up in like 2-3 shots so you need to avoid that. Unless the mig has lower energy than what you have then attempt to chase him but still not recommended

man i’m on my mig17 and about to start researching the mig19. The mig17 is just fucking awful. Especially now that it gets uptiered 95% of the time. Do you have any tips for people flying the mig17?
