I HAVE CELIAC DISEASE

  • I know there is a lot of negative feelings about "food sensitivities" and "gluten free" in the world today, so it was somewhat difficult for me to open myself up to judgment, but at the end of the day I felt it was important to speak up and possibly help at least one person. This is not me forcing you to stop eating certain foods or to get tested, but simply making you aware of what I've gone through in the hopes that maybe it resonates with you, or reminds you that there are people who can't eat like you do, and do not deserve the judgement they get every time they go out to eat. It's difficult for me to talk about this because people rarely seem to understand, but it's occurred to me that people can't understand unless I talk about it. So here it is. I hope you enjoy this slightly different video from me this week x

You spoke so poised in this video. About something that people don't actually think a lot about. Just because we look "healthy" on the outside. Doesn't mean we don't all have our own struggles. I suffer from a very complex auto-immune disease. That effects my life every single day. Thank you. Love you xoxo

I need to tell the truth about celiac disease. There no such things as diseases just ignorance. I use the cause and effect rules to find the cause of diseases and I found that immune system is low if the body is cool because body tissue may get infected with inflammation and pain results. Exposure of our body to low temperatures is the cause of diseases because immune system cannot cure infections and nerves are numb. Diseases are an infection or nerves numbness . The area of our body infected gives different names to that infection. skin infection is called cancer or psoriasis, digestive system infection is called celiac and Crohn disease, brain infection is called meningitis and so on. For all diseases are just two solution to cure that infection: to keep our body at 97F temperature, which is not good because the air temperature is too high for breathing, or to insulate our body very well to allow it to increase the temperature enough to cure infections. This idea is practical because the air temperature is low and good for breathing. I invented special clothes capable to increase the body temperature to cure infection. If interested write to me on davidmuresan@live.com I will give all what I found for free.

Thank you for opening up and sharing! I have been diagnosed with Celiac now for 8 years, eating a strict gluten free diet, and I am STILL dealing with some symptoms. It is crazy how easily gluten sneaks into foods either labeled "gluten free" or into foods that you would never think to have gluten! I'm sorry that you have Celiac disease. It's nice to know we are not alone in this. :)

I just stumbled across your video, and am so glad I did. I was diagnosed with Celiac over a year ago after spending close to 20 years with varying symptoms. The doctors I saw during that time told me I had everything from acid reflux, ulcers, anxiety, depression, that I just needed exercise, etc. When I was a kid, I had stomach issues and got headaches really frequently. I also had a lot of pain in my arms and legs that everyone just called growing pains. Things progressively got worse as I got older. It was so bad that people honestly thought I had gone completely crazy. Thankfully, one doctor had the idea to do a blood test and endoscopy just in case I had Celiac. The tests confirmed that was exactly what was wrong. the dietary changes have been hard, but I am at the point where things are changing for the better. I no longer have joint pain, my muscle spasms are gone, I sleep better, my stomach issues are better, my hair and skin are improved, and most importantly my depression, anxiety, and concentration issues have started to improve. My family and friends no longer have to be on the receiving end of things due to my "grain brain". They unfortunately had to deal with the rage and other mental issues along with me, and more than anything I hate that it affected others. Not being able to just eat what I want or use certain products because they contain gluten is a pain, but a worthwhile one. I have slipped up, and can say without a shadow of a doubt that I regret it. Giving up certain foods is more than worth it when the result is feeling better.
p.s. I miss ramen too! That is the one food that I haven't been able to find a substitute for!

Hi Amanda! Your experience sounds absolutely awful. It seems like you saw multiple doctors, so it's incredibly frustrating that it took so long to get a diagnosis. I've heard so many stories where people took it into their own hands and did the research, and then demanded their doctors check for celiac. It's crazy that it takes so long to diagnose sometimes!! It's the most prevalent inherited autoimmune disorder!! Anyway, I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. It's the silver lining through all of this. I always say the diagnosis and lifestyle changes suck, but it's so much better to have answers and to not have to live with the symptoms.

omg I relate so much to your story. I'm 27 and have just been told from a blood test I have tested positive to Celiac Disease and waiting for a biopsy to confirm it. For most of my life I would keep going to DR'S and told them I feel so unwell. tiered. nausea. bad stomach pains. aches in my body. exhausted all of the time. brain fogs. bad infections. asthma. acid reflux. bloating and bad pains.
I would get home from work at 3pm and just fall alseep in a major state of fatigue EVERYDAY.
Everytime after the Dr I felt awful. they made me feel like it was all in my head and it was normal. I knew something was wrong inside I felt so unwell. I didn't feel normal. I told the Dr I was young but I felt like I was in an 85 year old body.
Finally a new Dr I went to tested me for Celiac in a series of blood test. Told be it came back positive. I have been told I have to keep eating gluten until my biopsy could be months. it's pretty hard. I just want to stop eating gluten straight away. Will see how I go. It's going to be so hard for me because I love my food soo much.
At least I am not alone.

I'm so glad you found this helpful. I totally understand how you feel, and sadly I think a lot of other people do, too! You know your body better than anyone else and it's great that you continued to push for answers when everyone was blowing you off. I think a lot of people just give up and accept that they will feel terrible forever.
I know it seems difficult now to think about how much you will have to give up, but it helps to know you WILL feel better. And at least for me, it feels good to have an answer and a concrete way to fix it rather than being in the dark about your own health, you know? Even if it is difficult. I still struggle after almost 3 years, but every day this disease becomes more and more understood and we move closer to feeling normal. Just looking at how difficult it was when my grandmother was diagnosed 12 years ago vs. how much better it is now gives me a lot of hope for how it will be in the future.
You're definitely not alone :) there is a huge community here to support you and help you every step of the way!

Bryn Smith yeah I cried last night....silly I know.. So many people who a gravely worse off than me.
I love food so much and can't believe I have to monitor it for the rest of my life. it's going to be a challenge I am sure. But I hope I can feel normal again one day. 😞whatever that is
But looking back now from my whole life it all makes sense. it's a relief to know that something was actually wrong with me and how I can fix it. I felt like I was crazy.
. All I eat is gluten lollies...biscuit. ..bread cereal toast pastries. ...NO WONDER I felt AWFUL and in complete pain all day everyday. It affected a lot of things for me.
being skinny...always thought I had a fast metabolism but maybe it's the celiac. .?
I hope I don't have to wait too many months to see the Gastroenterologist. Because I hate having to continue eating the one thing that makes me feel so sick.
I had low iron in my teens and have a history of telling the Dr the same symptoms time and time again. " Tiered all the time....aches and pain" irregular menstrual -still.
What happened after your diagnosis. ..? Any advice....?
How long after eating gluten free did you go until you started to feel different and healthy. ..normal?
Thank so much for your support Bryn ☺
      much love from Australia 👍

My whole life I’ve had really bad olsars in my mouth, TMJ, sickness, and tiredness. When my acne got extremely extremely bad, I felt hopeless and out of control of my body I became increasingly depressed and my anxiety flew through the roof. To fix it I believed I should do a vegetarian diet and eat a lot of carbs. This obviously heightened my problem and had me suicidal, being diagnosed with celiac is a blessing (on awareness day too lol) hoping to see what it does to my skin down the road!

Hey, I'm also 21 and have been dealing with super similar symptoms to what you talked about. I have been going from doctor to doctor and am finally getting an endoscopy on Thursday. I have had to deal with the moments of thinking that I'm making all of this up and that I'm overreacting when it comes to my symptoms, but I know that I shouldn't feel dreadful after everything I eat. I have a really strong feeling that it might be celiac and watching your video made me feel less alone in what's been going on, so thank you so much for that!

I hope it worked out for you. I find that can be also a false negative. I did not have one. They went by the rashes I get for it and the symptoms. It has taken me years to recover because I am in my 60's and I had it since a kid. I kept telling docs I was so sick and they ignored me. I had to figure it out when someone asked me if I was celiac. I said no but then eventually I went to look and yes I was. I had to teach my doc about it. In the process I almost got kidney failure and a stroke. BP meds caused it. They pulled the meds kidney's started to work and I never took the meds again. I get sick on almost all meds.

You hit the nail on the head with this video. I pretty much went through the same exact process as you finding out that I have celiac, only I'm in the process of being diagnosed at 39. Your story lines up nearly parallel to mine, but I knew it was celiac nearly days before I finally got the nerve to go see my doctor. I have a daughter who has type one diabetes which is an autoimmune disease and I've heard a lot about how celiac and type one almost always go hand in hand so I was always watching for signs of her having it. I just never thought it would be me being diagnosed, not her. After a few very stressful months in 2019, I became very sick and I believe that is when I had the autoimmune trigger. After that I went through 9 months of being even more sick. After going to the gastroenterologist I've eliminated gluten and I'm still healing, but it's definitely getting better. I'm still waiting on approval for the endoscopy for an actual diagnosis, but he's positive its celiac. It's not as hard as I expected it to be, but like you, the two things I crave and miss the most is RAMEN AND MAC N CHEESE!!! Oh and donuts! But hey, I guess it saves us a ton of carbs, right??? Thank you for doing this video, you're going to help A LOT of people. Love

Headaches, then classic digestive symptoms came along etc. Finally after millions of doctor’s appointments I got the celiac blood test and it came back positive. My endoscopy didn’t show significant damage but there was intestinal inflammation so my doctor thinks I’m in the early stage of the disease. I wanted to ask what were your symptoms? And did you end up getting diagnosed after the endoscopy? And finally did going GF help if you did it? Thank you 😁

I am SO happy I came across this video, it made me feel less alone. I'm going through a tough time and I can really relate to your situation. For almost two years I've had stomach ache, nausea, fatigue and I definitely have been struggling with concentration. The doctor always told me it was just stress and that I had gastritis and a bad stomach. Medicines do work for a while but as soon as I stop taking them, I end up being sick again. Now the situation is worse and my anxiety has never been so high (even when there is nothing to be anxious about really). Like you, I refuse to think that a 23 year-old has to feel terribile everytime she eats. Everytime I go out I'm so anxious because I suddenly feel sick and I never know when it's going to happen. I can't even enjoy a dinner with friends anymore. I refuse to think this is "just stress". I've had my blood tests done today and waiting for the results. Maybe it's celiac, maybe it's not, but anyway your video gave me some hope and the courage to speak up and not give up until I know what's going on with my body so thank you so much :)

My sister happened to remember that my mommom has it. I got the blood test and went gluten free for 2 weeks and then I ate gluten again for 2 weeks before the endoscopy and they confirmed it. Overall the whole process took about a month. It was very rough for me because i just started middle school and then I was hit with that and had to completely change everything and I was being bullied for it.

I just started my diet about 2 weeks ago after finally getting my diagnosis. I’m still really struggling to find things to eat. I’m starving allllll the time!! I have so many symptoms that match either Celiac or at least a gluten sensitivity. From the usual digestive issues such as nausea, bloating, belching, constipation/diarrhea and stomach gurgling every day to other things such as major fatigue, brain fog, itching skin, headaches and constant muscle twitching all over my body. It's been going on for over 2 years now. The only problem is that these symptoms also match other diseases and illnesses, SIBO being just one of them.

I'm 26 and have all those issues and always thought something was wrong with me. I even had really bad hormonal issues and period pain that was so bad. Doctors keep dismissing it. I stopped gluten to see if it would help and in a month I felt a lot better and after 2 I had pain free periods. When I started eating a little gluten it again I started to feel slightly bad. I'm so depressed right now I don't know what to do. Should I just give it all up or hang on until the doctors actually listen to me? I'm too scared to have an endoscopy. I don't want to start eating lots of gluten again and feel really bad just to have a blood test.

    • @bryn-smith
      @bryn-smith  Před 7 lety

Hi Sarah! So sorry to hear you're going through this. If you've cut out gluten and you know you are feeling better doing it, then I say just go ahead keep it out of your diet. I'm no doctor, so maybe others have a different opinion, but if you know you feel sick when you eat it then there's nothing an "official" diagnosis is going to change. You may have celiac, or you may have a strong sensitivity, but the after effects are the same. Unless of course, you choose to eat it occasionally, in which case that will be much more damaging if you have celiac. If you're concerned, I would look for a doctor or nutritionist in your area who either has celiac or is familiar with it - they will be able to help you the most. And if you decide to get an official diagnosis, I promise an endoscopy isn't too bad :)

I have it and it has been years for me. I can do painting now where I could not before. It depends on the person and how long you had it. 33% don't heal as much as they should. Make sure you are eating certified gluten free and best is to cook from scratch. Buy all stuff in packages. People have gluten filled hands and touch the veggies in stores.

I had ulcers in my terminal ileum in my twenties. I'm nearly 40 now. Never been tested for celiac disease. I get wind and bloating, moon fog and really severe exhaustion. Doctors haven't taken any real notice. I get pain too but have just accepted that as normal. I'm already dairy free but I'm going to go gluten free and see what happens. It's weird because I'm always better when I have jacket potatoes.. Which are vegetables and completely gluten free. Thank you xx
I also get extreme headaches.. Where it feels like my body is getting rid of a toxin. They don't happen as much now but I have cut out and reduced the amount of bread that I have. I also get muscle twitches. I'm reading all of these symptoms that I've just reeled off.. It's quite a lot lol. The worst part is waiting to feel like I can function properly and feeling unconfortable and so tired and the inability to fully concentrate. Is anyone with me on this?

Omar Cruz It's great that you have an interest in GF products. I think a big issue is that very often gluten-free products like cakes and cookies are extremely sweet. Besides celiac I also have hypoglycemia and eating such sweet things makes my sugar drop even more. I would love to have more yummy options that are lightly sweetened and healthy. And any celiac will always miss a fluffy elastic bread that doesn't fall into pieces. Luckily here in Europe I found a British brand called Genius with the best bread I ever tried :)

I had a similar problem, I was malnourished due to celiac and had a weak immune system. Celiac becomes much more obvious when your immune system is strong. I take tons of zinc/copper/selenium, now I never get sick (that's not to brag). But now I'm SUPER sensitive to anything with even a single molecule of gluten. I can't even eat corn. And if I accidentally eat something with gluten in it, 24 hours later is a diarrhea marathon, the reaction is insanely strong.
