Hope is believing in that which we cannot see. My hope is in Christ. I have stage IV cancer and deal with severe pain. I listen to this song while I wait for my medicine to work. I listen when my faith waivers and I listen and remember a friend who had such a strong faith as she said goodbye (for a while) to her six and eight year old children. I want this song played at my funeral and the gospel presented as my heart's desire is that none of our friends or family will spend eternity separated from the Father. Thank you for using your talent for the Kingdom, I am a life that was changed.

This is my favorite song in the album! I was overwhelmed one day with the kids, and working full-time and trying to be on my wifely duties. I just got home and I had to cook and clean and the kids were running wild! Normally I put my headphones in while I was dishes and this song came on, I was angry and grumbling in my mind, but the lyrics stopped me and I just began to worship God and cry out! It is well! Though it all my eyes are on Him, He is my strength and my peace! I love God so much for that, that He cares enough to meet us right our need!! Thank you for this song!

Just listened to this song today at work and I just felt the Holy Spirit compel me to listen to this and understand what it really meant to be able to say "It is well with my soul.". Now that we're facing this pandemic, I am again reminded of the truth that regardless of our current crisis, it does not change who Christ is. Thank you for this beautiful reminder.
Three months ago (Dec 2015) when our daughter, Sadie, was in Starship Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, ( Auckland, New Zealand) my husband played this song to her after her open heart surgery. She was 11 weeks old. After 5 days she has complete heart and organ failure and we were told she would die and there was nothing more they could do. We were set up in a private room to say our final goodbyes. Her 5 older brothers (17, 14, 7, 4, 2) came to say goodbye. Her grandparents and my best friend and her 4 daughters were with us too. As the breathing tube was removed and we lay on either side of her and while her heart took it's last beat, It Is Well played through it all and then the kids took the iPad home with their grandparents and it played all the way home and was still on repeat when we came home later that night with our darling Sadie. At her memorial service we had a big bowl of feathers up the front and a big empty vase next to it. I had explained to our Pastors that all the prayers and food and kindness everyone had shown and whole heartedly given us was like a feather and the accumulation of them all was like a softer landing in our grief. Our friend and Pastor took the service for us and explained this to everyone who was there, and asked them all to come up and take a feather and place it in the vase. We played 3 songs during this time, and one of them was It Is Well. It was later we learnt about the hymn and the story behind it. This song is often played by us and it is such a comfort to remember that it is well with our souls, and even when we doubt it, the song still plays and it sinks in and our spirit knows it even when our hearts and minds are to stricken to comprehend it. It was nice to hear you explain it in this snippet. Thank you for what you and your husband and band have provided to us and all those who need to remember it is possible to lose everything and it still can be well with your soul.

Im so very sorry.for your loss, it's the most difficult thing you can face :( I live the analogy of the feathers it's very vivid and hopeful and encompasses all the gratitude and acceptance of love you put into saying it. I lost my brother in 2019, October 6 . I hope that you and your beautiful children have found some peace but I know that the pain lasts forever , the only advice Incan humbly offer is what I had to learn , the world changes forever and it isn't going to change back , and it's better to learn to live next to your grief not deny or think it will fade away , as much as you loved that person so you will continue to hold them in your heart in joy and grief for all your days . I wish you joy peace and all the love in the world .

It’s 2020 and I still get encouragement from this story
This song! It is the only song I have ever heard that can bring me to tears and my heart fall in worship every time I play it or hear it on the radio. I see Jesus walking up to me, nudging me on the shoulder and saying, "Michelle it is going to be alright...I am right here."
Listening to what she says, starting from buying the house, then she starts getting into spiritual side of it... and to the chorus part explanation, tears just started running down my face. Yes I am in a very challenging part of my life right now, and it took me some time to really let it go and let Him handle it. But still I get challenges here and there, since I am a human. This video reminded me once again that what I am facing is nothing in front of Him. Yes, everything in this world, no matter how it could affect my life, it knows defeat when it comes to God. “It is well with my soul”. My grandpa was killed in an accident last September and they sang this song at his funeral. It means so much to my family. My grandma has been struggling so much over the past year, she got those words tattooed on her arm. She has had lupus really bad for the past 30 years now and so she’s been through a lot. She never expected this to be so hard for her. She met my grandpa when she was 11 and fell in love with him. It’s like a fairytale, people would tell them. ‘It is well with my soul’ helps her to realize all the good things that are happening all around her right now. Every time I hear this song it does make me tear up a little. It’s a very beautiful piece that means so much to many people.

This song/video has been such a blessing the past months as I went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was going on. Through the pain and fatigue, I did not want to stop reaching out to the refugees and immigrants through my ministry. This song and the video for it helped me in my prayer times to keep going and looking to the Lord. I finally got the answers from the doctor and am on my way back to health.
Thankyou for that song and for being transparent in yr need to know God's faithfulness...like you said we don't want to be in that place but john 16:33 says we will all face tribulation. ..my family has gone through so much in the last 3 yrs, but the worst was the tragic death of my nephew and his wife on March 29th. ..God showed Himself to be faithful, His love swept over my family...His strength was the only reason we made it through. ..God bless you as you minister in song.....they're not just words, they're a balm to my heart and soul

I play this song nearly every day. It’s helping me get through this season of my life as I face severe health issues that are crippling me and having to leave a toxic, abusive relationship and start over. I don’t know how this is gonna play out, but I have placed my worries before our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. I have learned that faith is a currency. You can pray an emotional prayer, but God wants us to have complete faith in him. So I’m trying to build my faith that all will be well and that he will throw this mountain into the sea.🙏🏻❤️

I fell in love with song immediately! My dad was in a state like coma for a couple of days, the doctor that was attending him gave us the call that he didn’t have much time to be here with us & honestly when I heard that I just knew that that day he was gonna go to Heaven ❤️ so before I say my goodbyes I thanked him for taking me in as his own, and that I’ll always cherish him. I sang to him of course Christian music & when I stopped due to nurses checking up on him he gripped my hand (letting me know to not stop singing) I’m not the best singer but he didn’t care because he knew how much I loved to worship to the Lord. Anyway this song came up and when it says” it is well with my soul” that meant to me I’ll be ok , if he’ll just run to the lord!! This song was actually the last one that I sang to him and 30min later he woke up to me and my 2sisters just letting him know that we will be ok to just let go and run to God! And he just nodded and took his last breath ❤️ and mine you the room was full of my brothers and nieces and nephews and they all went to do a few errands or some went to the cafeteria before his passing . BUT me and my sisters stayed, I still questioned myself like why us? Why did we have to see take his last breath? I’m not upset I just wanted to know why. February 2nd will mark 3 years & we’re all still hurting

I remember I heard this song on the radio and I loved it instantly. It spoke to me with what I've been going through in my life. Then I forgot about it. Some weeks later I heard it again and the same feeling overwhelmed me. I had to have this song on my playlist. So I looked for it and I got it. Recently, like last week I typed in the song title and I saw a different video by Wintley Phipps...it was the hymn (that I didn't know there was). The song touched me even more!
Yes we tend to forget that God never changes. Through it all, it is well. When everything is ok and good, God is Faithful when we are facing difficult moments, God is still Faithful.,,God is forever Faithful. I believe in Him who made the Heavens and the earth. For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose.
Funny enough, when my wife and I started listening to this song, it was the time we were in the process of buying a house....a very long process indeed. We finally got the house and all glory be God our Father.
This song gave me strength in the most difficult time of my life.

I was in bed for three months with a lot of problems from my spinal cord. I was in so much pain and the doctor didn't know if I would be the same again. I had so much fear since I had no control over the situation. But when it feels like things are out of control what a perfect time to let go and give him all your expectations and to trust him. I didn't need to ignore my fears but instead face them head on giving God my expectations and knowing no matter what happens God is all I need. He is the God of peace and strength. He wants to shower us with his peace but we have to give him our expectations.

Wish I could be so peaceful and happy. God hasn't done anything for me. I've been searching for him and at times have trusted in him. But when I tried to trust he just made everything hard. Life isn't beautiful to me. I don't really have joyful moments.
I hated the hymn 'It is well'. It reminded me of death and sorrow and just felt like a heavy black cloud because sadly the hymn is associated with burials where I come from. You made me see the other side of this hymn. The side where it is God literally telling me no matter what is going on IT IS WELL! Thank you so much for that.

I'm from the 20th century and constantly uncomfortable with the 21st century, so excuse me for not knowing who you are.
I do, however, want to tell you how I learned of you. John, my hubby, and I have been married for 35 years. We've been believers for 43 years. He is my shield, in all the positive ways hubbies are supposed to take care of and shield their wives. John had heart attacks -- at least two, and the second one was "massive" -- the week before Thanksgiving. It's two weeks later, he's in the cardiac ICU at HUP, blew a heart valve, damage one of the muscles that keeps the heart together, now has a very bad infection, and one of his doctors told me yesterday, "No, even for here, he's very sick."
A friend of mine, Candance, got an email from me last night saying I'm reminding God of every miracle he's ever done. This isn't a big miracle. But, I can handle everything but John dying. Her response was to link your song. (Other video, not this, but after hearing it, had to find out where you were to know that it is well with you.)
Two things I know. God has one lesson plan for John. "I love you." (That's all God has ever given him for all the hard times, but, it's everything we need for hard times.) God's lesson plan for me has always been, "Trust me." (Again, if God says to trust him, what else do I need? So not like these are small lesson plans.)
It is not well with me, but I will keep listening to your song, until it is. God has given me, "Trust me, no matter what, even in this." So, I know I keep listening, until it is well with me. Thank you.

+Anna Dryer My hubby lives! (Man! There was so much that happened after that to make me know it is all God doing the "hubby lives" thing.) He almost died again several times since. He is now in rehab for good (a few weeks there when he was rushed back to the hospital again. I now know I don't get to keep hubby as long as I want, but God will take care of us both the way He wants.
