This is the best looking super 8 footage I’ve ever seen
Thank you very much, although the camera did do a lot of the heavy lifting in regards to sharpness haha
Magnificent cinematography
Appreciated as always !
Have I mentioned how much I hate you enough times? 😉😂 always wonderful work
I’ll take the hate any day 🫡
The support goes a long way mate, thank you 🙏
I can't believe this is super 8. I'd wage it 16mm
I was just as shocked, especially with the 50D results
@@ssimple4190what kind of scans did you have done? The footage looks great!
I cannot stop watching this, I have never seen 8mm look this amazing.
thank you kindly !
Beautiful as always. Truly inspirational.
Thank you! Cheers!
Very beautiful and inspiring. There's nothing like film...
Greatly appreciated ❤️
👏👏👏 Your work is very good. Love the super 8/16mm film stuff.
Thanks a lot!
Incredible, never seen Super 8 so crispy! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, it can deliver some truly remarkable stuff sometimes
This is art, so calming.❤
That means a lot !
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for this great film. Good concept. The filmstock is brilliant. The camera has such a steady film transport/gate (Beaulieu is high-end after all)
And Thank you for the kind words !
It is an absolutely beautiful camera that is a joy to use !
Really incredible.
🧡
Very clean. Impressive.
Thanks 🙏
A masterpiece
🙏
This is brilliant!
💚
Love it
Cheers !
Beautiful images thank you. Did you add some image stabilization for this?
Big love thank you ❤️
I did yes, I kept it minimal and the camera itself isn’t bad, I’ve had much worse but I do give it a little aid in steadiness to lessen the distraction where I can
Superb, a great piece in any format, amazing for super 8. Would love to know if you were shooting at 18 or 24 fps.
Cheers Kent !
I almost always shoot at 24, but sometimes a higher speeds if necessary. I think the last shot with the water ripping was at 70fps
this is very nice to see and ear, the music and images goes so well together. Did you use the optivaron 6-66 1.8 or the 6-70 1.4 ?
Thank you 🙏
This was with the 6-70
Fantastic. Question: dissolves.. in camera? Or post? Thanks for all of your films!
Thank you 🙏
These are all done in post, I’m never sure how I’ll place anything in an edit until I’m in it, so I like keeping my shots long and clean so I can do this stuff later
Really beautiful footage. How intense was the grade on this?
Thank you very much.
Not hugely involved, I tend to grade for a short while then return the next day to see it with a fresh perspective. I do that a lot so that’s probably the most tedious part, is the time combined, but it’s pretty easy to grade film
This is so beutiful. What lens did you use to achieve such sharpness? Was it the optivarion 6-66?
Appreciate the love!, this was shot with the 6-70 version
Well done. Where do you get your film processed?
Thankyou!
I use a lab in Sydney called neglab
Lovely footage! Did you sharpen it in post, in any way?
Thank you !
I added an almost unnoticeable amount, just to tighten it up a little,
But I also don’t want to overdo it, it’s 8mm and the softness is something to be embarrassed I think, same with colours and imperfections, I want things to look as natural and realistic in all its characteristics as possible
@@ssimple4190 thanks for the answer. I agree that super8 should be chosen for it's specific aesthetic qualities. I just think your footage is really sharp and crisp, for super8. I mean this in the most positive way. What kind of scan did you use?
Do you use the same tripod for Super 8 as you do for 16mm? And where do you find your music? It’s always so calming.
I have a miller tripod, I use it with both my 16 and 8, it’s a good size for both
The music I’ve used I’ve found just be listening to a lot of different stuff as I’m in the edit, trying to find something that I feel suits the flow of cuts ect.
needs some T&A
I’m not familiar with what you might mean by T&A sorry ?
Hi, I'm an 18 year old looking to shoot my first full feature film.
I was astonished by this footage. Like it doesn't feel like Super 8, feels more like 16mm.
May I ask if you did any additional color grading or adjustments for it? And where did you get the film processed and scanned?
Much appreciated and keep up the great content!💕
Cheers mate !
I do colour grade all my footage but I try to keep it looking as natural as it did in person, it’s not all that difficult grading film, although I’m sure many could do a far better job then I.
And I have my film processing done at Neglab in Sydney Australia and the 4K scan done at memorlab in Melbourne.
Hope that helps !
Good luck and thank you for the kind words !❤️
Amazing!
What aspect ratio is this? It looks a little smaller than a 4:3?
It is yes, I brought the image in slightly to remove the original frame lines and inconsistent edge roundness, so I had to bake it slightly more boxy, but the original is around 4:3
Thank you btw !
Amazing. What resolution did you get it scanned at?
I guess 1000000k….
I believe they scan at 6.5k and deliver it in 4K
But I’m not entirely sure
@@ssimple4190 Is the 6.5K worthwhile or overkill? What do you usually choose? Because this film looked exceptional and I'd want this level of quality out of my scans
a 2k (2048 pixels across) scan would capture all the grain and details
What lens? Did you have the lens collimated to the camera?
I haven’t had it done, it may have in the past as it has been serviced.
This camera has a Schneider-Kreuznach Beaulieu-Optivaron f: 1.4 \ F: 6-70 mm
Is the sharpness down to the camera? How does one get such beautiful results?
The camera and lens definitely go along way, especially with 50D super 8. Can look very crisp !
@@ssimple4190those beaulieu lenses man, I’m hoping to catch some footage of sunny France with my Nizo, I have only tested it with the 500t so looking forward to 50d
Amazing! Did you shoot this at 24 fps?
Thank you !
I shot this at various speeds, 18/24 and occasionally 80fps for the bees and fire
@@ssimple4190 Epic. Thanks!
Top qualität.
Cheers🙏
4k in super 8??????????????????? super 8?????? less than 8mm?? but in 4k??? HOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO SCAN 8MM ON 4K AND NOT BLURRED LIKE VHS TAPE? (sorry for my broken english.)
Big fan of your works mate! Follow you on Insta aswell! I’m looking into servicing mine, wondering where you got yours done?
Legend, Thankyou !
I believe it was sent to björn Anderson in Europe for a professional refurb a few years ago,
I had purchased it from a local here I aus who had a few and was willing to part with one… I paid for it though, wasn’t cheap haha
