  • BIG COUNTRY LIVE LOOK AWAY
    GERMANY 1995
This time we run, this time we hide
This time we draw on all the fire we have inside
We need some time to find a place
Where I can wipe away the madness from your face
Our name is out, our name is known
Our name is everywhere but who knows where we've flown
I never meant to kill a man
But I will show you how to live like no one can
    So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
    Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
    Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
I met you wild in a snowed up town
Where I was waiting tied and bound to be sent down
Then I broke loose, you weren't around
So I raised banks and trains until I tracked you down
    Now Look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
    Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
    Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
You followed me when I said no
You lay with me when there was nowhere safe to go
We made some friends but now it's done
I always knew that we would never find the sun
    So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
    Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
    Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul
    So look away, look away
Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold
    Look away, look away
From the lies in the stories that were told
    Look away, look away
From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul

This has been at "Das Fest" in Karlruhe, Germany, a free concert in a local park. When Big Country went on stage, it began to rain cats and dogs. The band appreciated so much that a lot of the audience stayed, soaked to the bones. So it became a most memorable evening. When I think of an outstanding concert, this event always crosses my mind, because the band`s interaction with the people was almost personal. I`m glad I have been there...

I've been a fan of BC since first hearing them in 1983 as a high school kid in Toronto. Even now, I shudder when I watch footage like this. They were so remarkable, so incredible live, so emotional, so real. Bands come and go. Very few will stay with me.. Big Country ranks at the top of my list. The quality and humanity of their music stands up to anything I've ever heard. I miss Stuart dearly as well. BC really change my life for the better.

Saw them a couple of times back in the 80's...got a close up of Stuart when they were hovering around backstage waiting to leave. He was an incredibly beautiful man. Never seen a man that gorgeous since...his eyes were inhuman and so hypnotic...until he smiled. Everything may has well just went black then and there...lol! I literally swooned!

amen bro! every country has their own 'flavour', Scotland fuckin rocks! or as germans call it 'Schottland' :) Scotland blends perfectly with Deutschland! (Germany) Big Country fuckin rocks with the unique scottish sound applied to rock music-this band defines the very essence of the word 'TALENT' they are all naturals, beyond 'professional'.......I can't even begin to describe how this band touches me and makes me feel, fuckin sucked what happened with stuart adamson,......michael hutch hutchence as well,....INXS is australia's kick ass rock band......ireland and scotland are practically the same in every way, celts, celtic, they even used to speak just one gaelic, then it branched off for whatever reason, love the scottish raw ripping sounds that stretch to the very limits of just what music can be........amazing, incredible, and by scottish I mean big country and scottish music itself..........norway's band is 'a-ha' morten harket ans stuart adamson are so alike, and look alot alike, I wonder if they ever met each other,........and wonder if stuart and morten ever spoke off camera or on in interviews about each other and each other's bands.........I know a-ha did tour in scotland, but I don't know if big country ever toured in norway.....I'm sure norwegian fans love big country, as scottish fans love a-ha,......there's a youboob video on here where you can see morten harket join scorpions-german rock band klaus meine-any relation to meineke brakes? join klaus on stage and sing 'wind of change' together, I wasnt really surprised, a-ha is unique, sure, some pop, but a lot of rock, in their own way, definitely not pop n bubble gum, I'm sure morten would have enjoyed being in a harder rock band, he's as much a powerful singing influence, I think he plays guitar also, as EUROPE'S-swedish band, joey tempest.....EUROPE is an awesome band from sweden, major talented, been around since 70s like scorpions, and still kickin ass today...........big country is so scottish in every way-from their music sounds, the flavour of the band, to their 'dance steps' the way they hold their guitars, - everything! its so awesome-this band is NEVER dull nor boring, like ireland, scotland too is a fiery country, full of hungry souls, musically, artistically, and in so many ways, irish and scottish people are ALIVE people - hence 'stay alive'-in a big country, they are spirited rich people, rich in lore, tales, vibrancy, excitement! big country is literally a band on fire when performing live, and that fire is still there in their hearts when recording in the studio,-it just becomes a nice low steady flame, with beautiful poetic lyrics, ballads, etc-but then they set all those afire when performed in concert, I literally think they are going to jump outta their skin when performing, VERY POWERFUL less is more type of rock music, so many bands have raw energy, but its flat, laid out, dull, here and then gone, big country STAYS fresh, hungry, they are never quite 'exhausted' in the sense when they're 'through' performing, they're still restless, hungry, the concert never stops with a band like this, the concert is in their hearts-burns constantly, throughout their lives, I'm definitely sure they are vibrant people, as all irish and scottish people are, celebratory, these 'celts' lives are a celebration in and of itself,.....VERY LIVELY EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIVE PEOPLE, MY KIND OF PEOPLE, thats the real me also, german people are like this also, but it comes out in a different way with them.........on fire yet reserved, more 'mechanized' -not dull, just uniquely german :) in their own beautiful way also, but as for the irish and scots, they hold nothing back, give it all, let it all come out, its a very moving, touching, fascinating thing from them...........just look at the size of ireland and scotland, yet how much talent and brilliance has come out of these two practically alike-same countries, in form of music, artists, writers, food, drink, EVERYTHING in all aspects of life! amazing! I applaud ireland and scotland for their amazing achievements in humanity and what they've given the world! what is 'Rock on!' in scottish gaelic and irish gaelic? :)

man, what was goin on in stuart's life...........sounds a lot like michael hutch hutchence of aussieland's INXS..........asphixiated by a belt? in hawaii? I dont get it..........doing drugs? I think hutchence was same way, and in a hotel also, like stuart, sounds more like murder.........like kung fu tv show actor david carradine-weird flipping way he died-the circumstances.........and I dont believe for a second bruce lee and his son brandon, the way they died was an accident..........
