    I charge an additional $50 to clean a oven. And refrigerators can range anywhere from $50-$100 per cleaning. Depending on how dirty they are. My cleaning company does do windows but only first floor windows. but they get two prices one with windows and one without windows on a maintenance clean. I learned a very hard lesson cleaning windows when I first started my business. I went out and did a job on a property that was an hour and a half from my house. It was a new build so I was cleaning up the leftover remnants of drywall etc. I was brand new to the business and I went to go clean the outside windows. There was no landscaping in so lots of dirt and rocks around the house. And I was kind of in a hurry and I put my step ladder next to the window and I knew it wasn’t completely solid but because I was in a hurry I went ahead and stood on the ladder. Next thing I knew I was falling and my right forearm was sliding down the stucco and all of a sudden I was on the ground. I did a quick survey of my self to see if I was hurt and I went to go stand up and I could not stand up. I had broke my ankle. I was all by myself and I knew the guy that I was working for would not pay unless the job was done. So I hopped around on 1 foot for the last hour of the job and finish the job😂 And then drove myself home and I learned…..
    That I don’t mess around with new home builds and windows. And I do lots of extra safety training for my staff. And I have a really good insurance. But if you’re starting out in the cleaning industry. You might wanna not do windows right away until you grow your business because your insurance will be astronomical once you add those windows to your policy. I’m doing talk to text so I hope I’m not confusing people too much😂

    it's so complicated... here in Germany there are only hour prices for private houses. If they want cleaning, they pay between 12 and 18 € per hour, and tell you what should be done and what not as you meet first time.
    There are some fixed prices for let's say apartment houses when the stairs have to be cleaned, but even those are measured in hours.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Před 2 lety +2

      Vacuums are kind of like shoes. Everybody has their own style. The best vacuum for anyone will depend on the type of vacuuming they do - hardwoods, carpet, pets, etc, and then the ergonomics of how tall they are, how strong they are, how much suction they need, do they prefer cordless or corded, etc. I have several vacuums and like them for different reasons. One I absolutely hate. 😱

    Hi there! So I just got hired by a family to come 2x a week to do light cleaning, maybe laundry (she said she hopes to have it done but for me to put it away) and she already has a deep cleaner that comes in 2x a month.
    She said we can do an hourly rate or a flat rate. I have been a Nanny before & have cleaned while doing that but never a "cleaning" houses job.
    What should I charge her? I was thinking $150 a week flat rate. Is that too much or too low? Help!! Thanks!

    • @justhere5037
      @justhere5037 Před 2 lety +3

      It depend on what you’re doing a standard cleaning can vary on price depending on how big the house is and what u are doing don’t be afraid to charge what u believe you are worth! The average is 150-250 I believe. For a standard clean. But it can be up in price but if you’re doing laundry as well you are a little low in price if they have a standard size house. Per hour it’s 50 per person that also Varys but that is the average amount. U can charge hourly the first time and then change to a flat rate after you see what needs to be done the first cleaning is always the longest!

    • @justhere5037
      @justhere5037 Před 2 lety +1

      And also first cleanings can sometimes be higher in price because it is the first cleaning and you have to do more especially if the person has not had a Cleaning before you can recommend a deep cleaning first that’s always a great step but you can look up averages where you are I am from New York state so my averages may be different than yours but I hope your business as well and do not be afraid to charge what you are worth and you’ll have a lot of people that will turn you down have a lot of people that will respect what you were doing for them and that will pay what is deserved good luck

      If you are charging each item individually you can use a software like Compass Wave svy.tips/compasswave-home to figure out extras and add them to the existing price of the job. Or, you can put together a package and sell the package for a flat rate (i.e. 5 large kitchen appliances $250. or 5 small kitchen appliances $100) We have an entire course on upsell packages with pricing, supplies needed, the best time of year to sell them, etc. Check it out savvycleaner.com/upsells-and-special-projects

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Leon, Window washing is a separate business from house cleaning. The reasons we don't encourage house cleaners to wash windows is that for the most part, we don't have telescoping wands, 2 story ladders, pressure washers, or truck mounts. Sure, there are some cleaning companies that offer those services - but it's not my specialty and I'm probably not the best resource for you. I do however wish you luck on your interview. Go with confidence and show up on time. Bring a clipboard with you and take notes. Listen more than you talk, and have fun. The customer WANTS you to be the right cleaner for the job - that is why you have the interview. Please keep me posted. I'm here rooting for you.

    I’m in New Jersey, I’m confusing about the price for home cleaning.
    I know that first time cleaning is the more expensive, but how about when the customer says want to know if they contract the services -every week or - every two weeks or -once a months? How can I give them the price.
    Any discounts are depending how frequency they clean the home? Thank you in advance.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Před 4 lety +11

      You'll have a price for weekly or bi-weekly cleaning. That price covers a specific set of tasks that doesn't change. It's not discounted it is just the price. The deep clean will cost about twice as much as the maintenance cleaning and will include about twice as much as your maintenance clean. Does that make sense?

      You had me until you said mold and smell. If the house is moldy and smells, you may need to call a mold mitigator. The family will need to pay them to come remove the mold before you can come in to clean. Cleaning around mold without removing it is just a band-aid. The mold toxins will make you as a cleaner sick, and the person who moves in next sick.

      There are a lot of variables I don't know to just give you a price. Are all the bedrooms active? Is it an institution (daycare, hospital, orphanage, etc.) Is it a BNB? Private residence? Is it mostly vacant or does a large family live there? Are all 12 of the bathrooms in use daily? How the space is being used and how often it needs to be cleaned, will change the quote.

      When it comes to cleaning chemicals the goal is to match the pH level of the cleaner to the surface type and also the type of soil you are removing. Different surfaces will require different chemicals. And for a deep clean you may end up using a stronger chemical than you would for a maintenance clean. We do have a paid course that goes over the safety data sheets and a breakdown for deep cleans vs. maintenance cleans and the chemicals used for each. savvycleaner.com/eco-cleaning-supplies
      NOTE: you can buy the course a-la carte or it's included in the Savvy Cleaner Memberships as part of the training and certification program for house cleaners.

      Yes, raise your prices. Pricing for cleaning services went up at least $10 per hour during and since the pandemic. The cost of personal protective equipment went up, the cost of supplies, cleaning equipment went up. Fuel for the vehicle you drive went up, labor costs...it is more expensive for everything now.

      Hi Kristin! How big is the house (and how many baseboards are there)? Also, how dirty are the baseboards? If the baseboards have been neglected and need more than a Swiffer duster here is a video to help out: czcams.com/video/vHSvGzJVwOM/video.html
      Keep me posted on the baseboard situation : )

      @AskAngelaBrown  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Monica, We have a learning hub for cleaning business owners and there are two courses I recommend that are included in our Savvy Cleaner Network membership. The first one I recommend is called "Getting Started Basics" it helps you set up your business with a business name, URL, Logo, LLC or sole proprietor etc. And the second course I recommend is called "Pricing Basics" which walk you through setting up your business on introductory pricing as you get started in your business. Your pricing structure will change as you define the services your business offers and in the How to Ace a Walkthrough course we help you define that as well.

    Hi Angela, thank you for your great help here. I'm going to price a job tomorrow and this customer needs me to help her pack her home since she's moving out and to clean her home after everything is cleared. She told me she will need me for few days. Not sure how many hours but it sounded like she would need me for the day each day. How I charge $30 per hour. How would I charge her for few days?

      There are lots of booking software companies that will take you on a demo of how they operate and answer questions for you. Google the term "Best Booking Software for Cleaning Industry" and you will find several like this www.softwareadvice.com/field-service/maid-service-comparison/ (NOTE: Most software companies will come up with their own list - so look for the consistencies in the various "top ten" lists before making a decision.)

    I am confused as to what to charge my customers? I live in a retirement community 55 and older , use my golf cart to get to and from jobs, the going rate in our town is 25.00 per hour but they really run from that price when mentioned. Also I do clean out when sold , deep cleans for move outs and move ins. Haul off junk from previous owners but no one is willing to pay more then 15.00 per hour and 20.00 the first clean. So I'm finding some will give me one or 2 windows each visit,or throw in something like putting away their Xmas stuff etc etc. I feel taken for granted but so many are elderly and cannot do for themselves either. So I guess my heart has also gotten in the way. Help !! How do I handle this. And how do I charge and get them to understand it this price and more if other services are needed.

      +Tammy Crabtree Tricky situation. The secret is to have a very clear expectations, and worksheet that you work from offering exactly what you do. Your extras could be listed at the bottom with a price attached. Should a customer decide they want additional services they can add it to their bill for the additional price. If you don’t have a price sheet it’s hard to charge the client extra because they don’t know what they’re buying. Does that make sense?

      An office building for the most part falls under the commercial cleaning side of cleaning and may or may not be covered under your general liability insurance policy for residential cleaning.
