The fact that you were a major choice for the show makes me so happy. Also, the fact that your character was treated with respect when a lot of mainstream media would see Internet Personalities as superfluous and annoying when in fact, we derive knowledge and courage from many of them.

It was particularly interesting to hear the “deleted scenes” that didn’t make it into the show. I agree that it was a wise decision to tell your own story rather than the originally scripted one, and I’m very glad you were the choice to appear on “Heartstopper.”
seeing you in Heartstopper all of the sudden has been such a full circle moment for me as a bisexual guy and made me so happy that I started screaming in front of my screen as we have all been in Nick's place as queer people. Even though Heartstopper is exactly the type of support that I have needed during my own teenage years (and even today), watching the show has been extremely triggering to me cause it shows how my own life could have proceeded in an alternate, better world where queer people do not feel any "gay shame" or have to suffer from anxiety cause of homophobia and hatred :'( I know that life is a journey for sure as I am still trying to find my own place in this heteronormative world, but being confronted with how much time I have already lost to be my true self, makes me feel kinda sad and hopeful for a change at the same time.
There is a HUGE difference between speaking on CZcams or any media speaking TO people...and using a platform to SHARE yourself so intimately and authentically. Alice could see you weren't the best choice, but the ONLY choice because of that. Bravo!!!!! And congrats on getting the chance of a lifetime to help queer kids (and adults) in an important and already iconic series! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌

I think Alice probably was drawn to you because not only have you advocated for the normalisation of bisexuality and provided content directed at younger people but you also have a softness and compassion in your delivery which fits the Heartstopper series. I know your channel and the show will help so many people. 💕

I love this so much! Your story of kissing your best friend at 14 drew so many parallels between Nick and Charlie by showing Nick "what could be". You're just so perfect for the series!

While it doesn't surprise me that Alice let you change the script to accommodate you, it's still amazing that she did that. It's hard to imagine any other directors/writers being willing to do this. Let alone have an actual content creator, play the role of a content creator! I'm sure I'm not alone in the fact that I found your channel through the show!
I feel very lucky the role was originally written for a women but aloce liked my videos so much she asked them to give me the role I didn't have to do an audition they just sent me a messaging asking if I wanted to be in the show

I watched Heartstopper recently. When Nick watched the first video you made for the show, I had this feeling that I had seen a video of you somewhere many years ago. In fact, I realize that I’ve watched some of your early videos on coming out and myths about bisexuality when I was figuring stuff out, and then I lost track of you. Heartstopper was a chance for me to find you back and thank you for helping me back then, and for what you did since to help others (by the videos I see on your channel and the comments here). I believe the TV series give you visibility to help more people seeking guidance and answers.
Even though the content you presented in the few-second clips was nothing new to me, the way you delivered it still struck me to the core. I’m glad you changed the script to make it more heartfelt and down-to-earth. I was glad that Nick found your messages when he needed it most, and so did the viewers.

I can see why she chose you, because your so straight forward and honest and genuine.. I REALLY appreciate that.. So many queer people take on a facade to cover up their internalised shame, trying to look cool to cope with society's rejection, its so refreshing to see someone who just accepts themselves and genuinely wants to help people and uplift others.. That's why it worked in the story so well, because Nick and Charlie and the other characters are also genuine loving people just trying to be themselves in the world 😊✌️We need more stories like this 💖

Glad you didn't go with the Dr. Who angle. The take they used in Heartstopper was more relatable and authentic. Don't know why I'm saying this again because you already know but *love* your Heartstopper content!
Wow, this is wonderful to come across. I was watching your tv show reaction on another LGBTQ+ show (Swedish tv show Young Royals). I then noticed you looked oddly family and, was like, wow, you are the bisexual guy Nick watches to learn about being bisexual. It's so true that bisexual people are just bisexual and it's not a guessing game. Sometimes gay people just say they are bisexual but many are TRULY bisexual. It hurts me to think I am a 100% gay guy and long ago I thought maybe it was just some "excuse" to not say you are just gay (like Nick's very annoying brother David). But now I think how many straight people said I could not possibly be gay and was just "confused." It makes me sick to my stomach I never thought that. So, thanks for educating people about BEING bisexual. It's so awesome seeing how close our community can be at its best.

I just want to tell you, you were so wonderful in Heartstopper! It really shone through that you were sharing your own story and I was very moved by that scene. So, even though I did actually have a massive crush on both David Tennant and Billie Piper/ Rose, I'm glad you got to change it.
I didn't know anything about Heartstopper before watching the show a few days ago, so seeing Nick figuring out that he's bisexual came as a total surprise and made me feel absolutely overwhelmed with joy. He's such a lovely character, and I'm really really grateful for that representation!

Great video - you do a good job of conveying just how/why your involvement with "Heartstopper" was so special for you. Your realization that you were bisexual was similar to my realization that I was gay - even if I didn't connect with any of the stereotypes. I was lucky to have people come into my life who encouraged me to follow my own path, which is something that you've done, too.

The blue and yellow lighting was actually and accident as I wasn't told how to film the scene just a very cool coincidence.
I remember my long hair phase and I have to deal with heat, humidity and curly hair AS WELL AS major shedding. However, you carried off long hair beautifully!
Honestly this bit in the series meant so much, to see such an accurate portrayal of the particular confusion that is figuring out bisexuality. The absence of that "oh wow this was it all along", but instead the "this feels different but also not different and what am I??"

Definitely the right move them going with your authentic story, it shows in your eyes when you speak. To be honest, when I initially watched HS I assumed you were an actor playing a part. But then you posted on the Heartstopper Netflix FB group which led me to this channel. I really enjoy your videos, I'm so glad HS introduced you to me.
Thanks for the inside scoop! The scenes work so much better with your actual story than with the original script. I'm so glad they let you change it. It definitely helps add authenticity to show. Besides, we already get the "omg, both celebs are hot" scene with Nick anyway.

Awww. I love Cookie Monster. I even have a Cookie Monster tattoo. I'm first generation Sesame Street (i.e., I was born in '67 and it aired i '69). In fact I had a good ol' sob last night after hearing Bob McGrath died. The emotional impact of it took me totally off guard. Anyway, my daughter had made a design she wanted to tattoo and asked "Who wants me to tattoo this on them" and I said Hell yeah! It's Cookie Monster in a lacy heart munching a chocolate chip cookie. I love it but I stupidly had it placed on my shoulder where I never get to see it.

Its actually a complete accident with my videos I wasn't told how to film my videos I just picked those colours because they're complimentary

Wow I love this story so much! you were perfect for the part! you have such a warm and genuine vibe around you that I could really feel how YOUR voice actually encouraged him and really gave him strength to allow to feel his own feelings and take them seriously! Its so cool so see you other takes too. The versions they picked had the perfect beat in terms of the rhythm and the message being really concise and you actually seeming the most authentic and heartfelt. eventhough these takes are all also really fun! And your idea to go with your own experience is obviously spot on! It really worked allot better and it was also really what Nick needed to hear because it really mirrored his feelings! And one could really feel that you were literally sitting in your comfort pants because you felt so comfortable in your own skin and in your bisexuality and that comfy feeling transferred directly to Nick! so the obstacle left for Nick really wasnt himself feeling comfortable about his sexuality but being able to deal with the outside expectations and possible negative reactions and shit which is a whole other story all together... so, well done man! I will remember the comfy pants trick! You rock!

The framing, lighting, and overall look and feel of what you recorded for the show doesn't seem to match your other videos. Did they give you some sort of technical direction or specifications for what they wanted? If so, I'm curious about what those were. :)
Nope and you'll notice it looks like my older videos from about a year ago , I use my phone to record now in 4k where as I used my old camera for that video but the whole shot from start to finish including the script is all me. All I got from the studio was a script telling what was going to happen and dialogue they wrote what I changed to reflect myself

ooh I can see why they went for the Doctor Who at the beginning, because it mirrors the Pirates of the Caribbean scene when Nick realises he has a crush on both Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom! I guess the original idea was that, ok Nick hears that from the CZcamsr, then he watches the movie and realises it has the same reaction. It would have made the reason for that scene clearer (as it is on the show, it is slightly random, although understandable).
But I think the choice of going for the personal experience was the winning one, the Doctor Who one was a bit too artificial.
Yeah when I had the meeting with Alice she said I could rewrite my script to however I wanted it and I thought doctor who was great but wasn't authentic to me

I actually have no idea I only got to speak to Alice and the director , it was a pretty surreal experience. I actually thought at first it was a joke because I just received a random message on Instagram and they said they wanted to put into a video call with Alice. It wasn't till they both appeared on the call I knew it was actually real.
