    All of them deserve the spotlight! But I was so happy to see Jared was offered the part in the end. :’)

    The red bird in cirque du Soleil is like Equivalent to the black swan in ballet. LOVE IT ❤️✨

    I think they made the right choice. Jared definitely brings a bit more artistry to the role as well as his own spin on it rather than trying to copy Ross.

    They can't find an ideal red bird, they gotta make one.

    Wait, dude has been IN the show in a smaller part, understudying & PERFORMING the lead part on & off for FOUR YEARS...they make him audition for a job he's CURRENTLY doing and HAS done, and they DON'T offer him a contract for it?! That's not just insane, it's cruel, demeaning, & kind of abusive. This is NOT a healthy or respectful way to treat performers. If you're going to present this w/ a straight face, you need to explain that glaring slap in that performers face.

    • @Wolfways
      @Wolfways Před 2 lety +1

      You would rather they give him the job and admit they think someone else would be better but he just got it because he's already there? If you're looking for the best you have to treat everyone equally, and I'm sure the performers understand that.

    • @superp25
      @superp25 Před 2 lety +3

      Equal treatment isn't the issue. If he's good enough to cover the part for 4 years, he's good enough to just take the role on permanently. Making him 'audition' for a role he ALREADY doing is an unnecessary formality to put him through just to replace him. This way of treating performers is a sign of a toxic culture. This dismissive & manipulative way of dealing w/ performers in one of the few bad things about Cirque. It's really quite abusive because of how TOTALLY unnecessary it is. I was a unionized, pro dancer/actor for years. What they're doing here is really shitty.

    • @Wolfways
      @Wolfways Před 2 lety +1

      @@superp25 But they're not looking for "good enough."
      Being the understudy doesn't mean you must be chosen for the part if it's available. It's more of a "you will be there in case of emergency" position.
      You get the same chance as everyone else, but tbh I think they take into account him already knowing the part. They just think someone else would be better.

      this is very very common and almost standard practice in live entertainment. Sounds like they would also like to bring new life into the role changing it slightly, so may as well get someone new in with different unique abilities while keep reliable people performing their roles ready to swing in as an understudy any moment. Being an understudy is not bad

      No one understudies with the intention of expecting to just get the role. I’ve worked with live entertainers for along time and never just seen an understudy just be handed a part. In a traditional broadway show for example, which is my area of expertise, they’ll swing out the lead that’s leaving (that’s basically let them sit out a show tothe understudy go on) with the creatives in the audience as their actual audition.
