  • We explore Phukthar/Phugtal Gompa, one of the last few monastry in Ladakh only reachable by trekking. The trekking time will be approximately 2 to 3 hours. The Phuktal Monastery is built around a natural cave, which is believed to have been visited by numerous sages, scholars, translators, and monks around 2,550 years ago. At 16,600 ft and on an expansive snowy field, the Phuktal monastery aptly signifies liberation. Emerging dramatically from a mountainside on the rocky part of a gorge of the Lingti-Tsarap Chu, a major tributary of the Zanskar river is the magnificent Buddhist monastery.
