Thanks for the recommendations Terry. Your Saturday is Friday afternoon (5:47 PM) here in Nova Scotia - small world, big planet. Now I've got a lot of homework and I found a copy of Cast a Deadly Spell. It's a hard life but someone's got to do this work.
I highly recommend you to check out The Wandering Earth 2 (2023) when it's available for home video, which is a prequel, and IMO a massive upgrade from the first movie, explored some very interesting theme and idea, visually also grander. I think The Wandering Earth 2 is probably the highest standard of East Asian film industry, definitely on par with Hollywood production.
I've seen 2 of the 3, Warriors of Future and Junge-E and agree with your assessment. Now to catch up with AI Love You. Thanks for a good run down and your new channel idea sound great :D
@@terrytalksmovies Definitely! The more the merrier. But I've been a scifi nut since I was a wee wee boy (I think we're the same age), and I love it to bits. Live long and keep posting!
Thanks for the recommendations. Enjoyed Jung-E will check out the other 2. An South Korean sci fi I would recommend is Space Sweepers. Also really liked the recent French sci fi Big Bug directed Jean Claude Jeunet who co-directed Delicatessen.
Thank you ever so much for these hidden gems. I love science fiction and particularly love to see its standard tropes examined by different cultures. Pleas keep it up as you have better suggestions than any of the algorithms my other services use.
Great new format. Terry you are the best reviewer I have seen on CZcams. I watched part of a review by a thirty something man whose entire vocabulary was f... this sh.. I would have no respect for his opinion. Then I watched a review by another millennial that cared more about his hair than the movies.
I'm not going to diss any other reviewers. We're all on our own paths and I hope they become better at what they do. Having said that, I appreciate your vote of confidence in the channel, max.
Based on your reviews, watched these 3 movies over the past couple days. AILY was fun and cute. Warriors was an hang on to your hat watch, sort of silly, but kept my attention, for sure. The best of the 3 was Jung.e. I didn't want it to end.😢
I've been on a bit of a South Korean kick over the last week or so. I watched _Svaha: The Sixth Finger_ and _The 8th Night_ . I intend to watch a Netflix series called _The Glory_ . I will definitely add _Jung_E_ to my list.
The AI Love You sounds good. Recommendation for Asian horror movie; R-Point a horror movie taking place during the Korean War from the South Korean soldiers' points of view
Terry, for your Science Fiction Saturdays please watch give us your thoughts on THX1138. Be sure to watch the original theatrical version and the directors cut. THX1138 is in my top five SF movies but the directors cut has some things in it that really changed my feelings about the movie.
@@terrytalksmovies Thanks. Was there any one thing that ruins it for you, such as the slow pacing or the minimal dialog? I did not like the Directors Cut. Lucas mucked up lots of scenes with his (Ha, I laugh) "improvements." I really thought Donald Pleasence gave a stellar performance.
Have you heard of a movie with the English language title of "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK"? Your reviews reminded me of it. If you have seen it, what do you think of it? Somehow, I saw it on cable years, but I had to leave before the ending or maybe I just don't remember the end. Admittedly, this is only a comedy with a person who thinks she is a Science Fiction character.
one film or short story I saw 40 years or more ago. Not sure if it was english usa 1950s 1960s. Very Alien looking creatures. A man lies in a hospital bed, has a bedside light projected onto a wall. There are transparent Amoeba typ creatures projected onto the wall. They are talking to him, asking him to join them, a nurse comes into the ward and knocks the light to one side, so the images of the creatures are lost. Later on he has an ear operation and can't hear them any more and goes back to his wife. I have never seen it since and can't remember what it is called.
Have you seen the 2022 South Korean moive Alienoid? It's basically robots vs. aliens vs. wizards. I enjoyed it, but I've yet to find anyone else who's seen it.
Got all 3 of these on Netflix here in the States. Is Australia very Asian leaning since they are your neighbors? I just bought Criterion's Ingmar Bergman Blu-Ray box set, 39 (!!) films. Going to get nice and depressed.
You can always watch Smiles On A Summer Night to cure the depression. It's my favourite Bergman. We have a substantial Asian Australian population from many countries so our Netflix gets the good stuff. We also get some great Indian cinema, too.
Thai romcoms are best romcoms, don't care about the genre. Wonder if you have found some time to watch "Bangkok Traffic (Love) Story" or "Hello Stranger".

Great! Cast A Deadly Spell is always wonderful fun.
Definitely going to find these. If you do start a business driving around and selling old movies; call it “Terry Trucks Movies “!
That's not likely to happen, but if someone buys me a tuk-tuk, I'll consider it.

Excellent format revamp!
I've always enjoyed the scifi stuff. Im looking forward to a regular fix every Saturday.
Cheers
Awesome, thank you! Hopefully you'll enjoy the Wednesday videos, too.

Space Sweepers is definitely worth people checking out.
Science fiction Saturday sounds great! Love the channel, Terry. You inspired me to make a channel of my own!
Go for it. Good luck. 🙂
Is that your collection behind you. Holy hell!!!😮
No. That is part of my collection.

Thanks! Those algorithms are woefully bad at picking eclectic cinema.
March 26th: spending a Sunday afternoon with Jun_E. Echoes of Edge Of Tomorrow with Elysium via Oblivion. Pretty cool.
Enjoy!

Totally worth it, Jeremy.
Watched AI Love You, very interesting and fun Idea, hearing dub some great one liners.
The one liners, for me at least, aren't worth the cringe of the dubbed dialogue readings.
@@terrytalksmovies Literally just finished Jung_E, It's a great movie awesome recommendation's so far.

Fell of the couch laughing at “a place for James Cameron to his his sexual fetishes “ 😂😂😂😂
I think it was to house his, but I'm glad you liked it.

I have the movie on blu-ray. Park Chan-Wook is a masterful director and with I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, he's playful as hell.

Not yet but I'm impressed with the talent on show in AI Love You. Good acting, charisma, great comedy.
Only the Germans do dubbing well but i still hate it
Once you embrace subtitles you never go back.
