Howard really knew how to pick a crew with absolute horror stories in their upbringing, I really felt for Sal when he was talking about how his introduction to his half brother was at the guy's funeral. Howard tries to act like he had this haunted traumatic childhood, but the reality of Howard is that he had two parents who loved him and supported him.
It’s the other way around. People become performers because they are seeking approval & love that they were missing from one or both parents. Even Howard, his dad worked in radio & wouldn’t give him any attention…so Howard becomes the greatest radio personality of all time. Not a coincidence.
I just listened to a clip from 1992 where Howard talks about using a whoopy cushion on his dad & his dad chasing him down & “beating the s” out of him. So there was definitely verbal & (some level of) physical abuse coming from his dad.
Howard’s childhood sounds fucking terrible too, even if there’s some exaggeration there.

Artie is such a phony. Black Mercedes’ and Starbucks. He didn’t know how to pronounce the Yankees star players name but had season tickets. He pretended not to know how to use email but bought the Mercedes cell phone with his car. He’s a Hollywood actor type who plays a “Jersey guy” in real life. His whole act and everything about him was phony. That’s probably why he was a drug addict.
