Sam Selvon wrote in an essay in 1973:
"I think I can say without a trace of modesty that I was the first Caribbean writer to explore and employ dialect in a full-length novel where it was used in both narrative and dialogue."
    The Lonely Londoners-Sam(Samuel) Selvon
'The situation is desperate,' Moses say, thinking fast, 'you know the big hurricane it had two weeks ago?'
'Yes?' the reporter say, for in truth it did have a hurricane in Jamaica.
'Well I was in that hurricane,' Moses say. 'Plenty people get kill. I was sitting down in my house and suddenly when I look up I see the sky. What you think happen?'
    "What?"
"The hurricane blow the roof off.'
"A old woman who look like she would dead any minute come out of a carriage, carrying a cardboard box and a paperbag. When she get out the train she stand up there on the platform as if she confuse. Then after she a young girl come, carrying a flourbag filled up with things. "
'People get kill', 'The Hurricane blow off the roof', 'as if she confuse', 'then after she a young girl come'
--these unrefined dialects really make reading an interesting one. Real life conversations. Amusing .👌

The chief characteristic features of the diasporic writings are the quest for identity, uprooting and re-rooting, insider and outsider syndrome, nostalgia, nagging sense of guilt etc. The diasporic writers turn to their homeland for various reasons. For eg. Naipaul who is in a perpetual quest for his roots turns to India for the same. Rushdie visits India to mythologise its history. Mistry visits and re-visits India for a kind of re-vitalization and to re-energize his aching soul. Bharati Mukherjee’s childhood memories harken her time and again. All the same it is necessary to realise the importance of cultural encounter, the bicultural pulls which finally helps in the emergence of the new culture. The diasporic writings also known as the ‘theory of migrancy’ helps generate aesthetic evaluation, negotiate with cultural constructs and aid the emergence of a new hybridity.

Thank you Ma'am for this comprehensive lecture 🙏, your description of the situation of postcolonial time when people were struggling to establish their identity , to find their voice which has so long been suppressed was very picturesque, and how Naipual satirically portrayed these circumstances full of corruption, treacherous people was really very much detailed along with your explanation of other authors...
Ma'am please bless me so that I can crack JRF on the upcoming exam, 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️ I know your blessings will work miracles... love you Ma'am ❤️🙏🙏

Diasporic writers are very important these days. Their writing marked the beginning of a new era in English literature. Their experiences are so vibrant and their style is remarkable. As you said every work is different form the other. I was so much interested in post colonial theory when I was studying for MA. Many of the prominent European thinkers like Voltaire, Kant, Hegel,Darwin,etc.. were racists in their mind. That was a shocking revelation for me. Donald Trump won the American election using race as one of the strategy for dividing people. The death of George Flyod and the protest that follows raising the slogan "Black Lives matter" exemplifies that race is still a reality and people hating, insulting, attacking and killing each other of race.

    V. S Naipaul is the grand old man of British literature-yet he was not even born in Britain; born in Trinidad, he settled in England in 1955, but is a constant traveller. Naipaul is perhaps the clearest example of the changing cultural identity of Britain, of English and of literature in English. From The Mystic Masseur (1957) to A Way in the World (1994) he has written about the process of history, power, and culture. His The Enigma of Arrival (1987) has been described as 'the best novel of Englishness of the past fifteen years'. Thank you so much ma'am for this mind-blowing session! Love you so much ma'am 🥰😍♥️♥️

himself, whose serious of the experience of exile and alienation while living in Trinidad
seem to be portrayed through the character of his protagonist, Mr.Biswas. He struggles
from his childhood because of the conventional society. He faces ups and downs in life. The

He then says that Gandhi “Of course in this matter of beggary … failed.” If begging continues in India only because of misplaced charity, Mr. Naipaul would be right. No doubt there are beggars in India capable of earning a living but who beg because it is easy and pays. But surely the overwhelming majority begs because there is no alternative. Beggars will disappear in India not when Indians heed Gandhi and other reformers but when economic progress makes begging. -NAIPAUL’S INDIA AND MINE

    Dear all,
This is my success story dedicated to our dear Kalyani Mam.
I was attempting since 2014, everytime i lost in points difference.
I passed NET this time just because of our dear Mam !!!
I had reached a point in life where every hope ended, at an age of 29 still jobless and desperatly struggling behind my dream. I always dreamed to become an Assistant Professor in English.
One day, i came across Mams free CZcams videos. I was financially not well enough to get paid online courses then. The videos helped me a lot to clear the concepts.
Mams explanations & examples, tips & motivation, all made the classes wonderfull!
Gradually i started attending Mams Everyday @ 8 & @10 courses, Udemy lecturers and studied almost all materials Mam provided.
The situations were not at all favourable. To be precise like many of us faced, exam center was at a long distance, computers jammed multiple times, questions were quite tricky. Besides these my parents were affected by covid during my exam preparation days.
However i did my best under Mams guidance & motivation.
Miracles occured on the result declaration day once i checked the site i couldnt believe my eyes. I passed !!! That feeling is really great! My life changed exactly from that moment. All the past pains vanished for future smiles.
I attained this just because of Mam. Every year Mam has a bunch of successful students who spreads her fame and make her proud.
This time i am really blessed to be one among them to share with you all my success story dedicated to our dear Kalyani Vallath Mam.
Thanks a lot Mam for being the guiding light amidst the encircling gloom in our lives.
