Thanks Antony for your walk thru, I have heard the bigger Borensen 5, and they have superb tone and definition , I agree SUT make a big difference I have 6 of them , for stylus cleaning I use magic eraser, but u need a steady hand, and correct stroke and delicacy , the diamonds sparkle with the ME…

Holy smokes! What a system Anthony! Congratulations!
Oh and I am a *BIG fan* of anything Phasemation! I love their cartridges and as of late been enchanted with their equally fabulous phono stages. Actually, I have had the pleasure of listening to their 2nd from the top Phasemation EA-1200 tube phono stage and I don't want to let it go! Whaaa whaaa! Well I sold it so I have to deliver it to its new owner in a couple of weeks! Boo! ( although that just means I have to buy me one ! ! ! )

Angie is sending me a 1200. She said I’m never going to want to send it back! Thx for the kind words. Cheers, a

@@AudiophiliaChannel Oh oh! She is right! That unit ain't going back!
And watch out because you could then upgrade it by adding a 2nd power supply and end up with monaural power supplies! Word on the street is that adding that 2nd power supply it then comes dangerously close to their 50k, 6-box flagship EA-2000 ! ! !

Anthony--great video..... to hear great isic the gsr needs to be represenataive. .... but PLEASE don't ever ( and something tells me you wont!) let the gear overtake the muisic. There are a lot of folks who listen to the gear, not the music. Great job.... see you Wednesday!!--JG (PS the Heifetz is amazing))

lol Hey Jack, with all due respect,Jack, it’s all about the gear and music. I’m a nut for equipment, hence the magazine for 30 years, and I’ve been in love with music since I burst into tears when I was 7 years old at the dinner table listening to the Jupiter hymn from the Planets. My musician father knew exactly what had happened and my mother was flummoxed lol Audiofools chase sound, and aging hipsters on CZcams keep yelling it’s all about the music while listening to puerile crap. Some of us, yourself included my friend, can do both. C u Wed👍

@@AudiophiliaChannelI agree. I'll maintain to anyone willing to listen that the music/gear spectrum, where loving one necessarily moves you away from a love of the other, is a false dichotomy. I doubt that's where Jack was going with his statement, but I see it a lot. I see it more as a radar chart - dial up your love of one without impacting your love of the other, as you see fit. There's a case for better gear precisely because you love music enough to want to hear it on the best playback chain possible.

Nice system survey, Anthony. I'm a big fan of Phasemation and Ansuz, as well, although I run lower rent versions of each component you show here. Have you heard (or are you planning to review) the Zesto SUT? I've been eyeing that one to solve two problems with one box in one of my setups.

Doing EAR, Air Tight, Allnic and Ikeda. Although I used their nice looking SUT in the video, thusfar, I’ve been unimpressed by Zesto analog products (proviso, heard at stores and shows only). YMMV

3:00 the Technics SL-1200 is the most reliable turntable ever build but it's sound is only acceptable, Thorens TD-145 is very good and Linn Sondek is excellent

Wee wee waa waa! Aspirational stuff. Do you have a dedicated circuit for all this? That made a huge difference in my MidFi system. Also, do you keep your equipment on at all times?

No and no. But on in the early and and off late. The Mainz C2 sorts out any power discrepancies.

What's wrong with these cartridges? czcams.com/video/fAh7uwXcbRA/video.html
I've got one of them. I've got an improved version of another. I have other more recent ones by the same manufacturers. I'm an engineer and a music lover. I've enjoyed both phonograph records and live music all of my life. My main interest is in classical music which drew me to this site. Unlike audiophiles I use equalizers to optimize the performance of my sound systems. I find no flaws in any of these cartridges or their more recent more advanced designs of only a few years later. I also find no flaws in my turntable and tonearm, the best of which is an Empire 698 with a Shure V15 type V MR. I've even invented and patented my own sound system which I wouldn't trade for anything. So where do we disagree?
BTW, I wouldn't put a demagnetizer near a phonograph cartridge. It could damage the magnets. The empire cartridges are clad in mu metal that shields the coils from magnetic fields. Not only does Fremer demagnetize his cartridges, he demagnetizes his records. Atkinson said in a discussion that he heard Fremer play a recording of Diana Krall twice in a row and asked Fremer what had changed because he heard more bass. Fremer said he demagnetized his record between playings and Atkinson bought it. Just one more reason I laugh at audiophiles.
BTW, I'm enjoying your site very much.
