Weapon banner is not a trap in this game at all.
F2P are actually better off using their standard pulls on the standard weapons banner, given that after a few days playing, you should already have 3 different standard 5 star characters, and you're able to select 2 of them.
Yup..I'm barely at union 15 and I already have three 5 * character
(( I could have four 5* assuming that I try pulling for jian xin and win pity but I'm saving my pulls for 5* gun user)
2 different 5 stars if you're unlucky like me (:
Eventually you get another one right so it's batter then nothing , and as my prospective you can clear any thing with any charecter, just need to learn and master the combat system to not miss Pary and dodge
Yes, I´m only missing Lingyang in 5* (not counting Yinlin since she´s not out yet) and all my pulls are from exploration and free pulls (also yes, I got really lucky)
I feel pity for the people who never played Genshin and found WuWa to be unique, because they don't understand the concept of deception behind standard banner. Ask ANY Genshin player if standard banner is actually worth something, and I can guarantee you 120% all answers will be no. You will be getting characters from the standard banner when you lose 50/50 in any featured banner, so spending astrite to pull on those banner is the dumbest thing you can ever do in this game. Kuro giving 5-star selector of standard character and green summon orbs says it all. Go take a look at Honkai Star Rail, that game not only gives frequent premium 10+ pulls (yellow orbs) every patch, they also give out featured banner 5-star character for free (Dr. Ratio). Now that's being generous, instead of this deception you're all licking thinking it's true.
There is no 50/50 on weapons banners. Once you hit a 5 star, you get that weapon (including limited weapon banners). The standard banner splits the characters and weapons as well. For standard char banner, there's 5 chars (1/5). For standard weapon banner, you get to CHOOSE which weapon you're aiming for, and will get it once you hit the 5 star. There's also a currency you obtain for pulling that can be used for extra pulls, 4 stars, etc, but you can also get LIMITED char dupes within the time of the banner. You can literally save, pull a limited 5 star, and have C2 / E2. There's also 2 copies of all the standard 5 stars, so that a free C2/E2 over time if you really like one of them.
We also get a novice banner, discounted 10 pulls (costs 8) and a 5 star standard char within 50 pulls. Then it turns into a choice banner, select a 5 star standard char to aim for, within 80 pulls. And we got a 5 star standard char selector ticket that doesn't expire for a year, for free.
True. I'll legit pull for one of these weapons once my undertstanding of the game is a bit better.
Exactly I don’t know what is bro yapping about
Guys, let's not go war on which is better, Genshin is Genshin, Wuthering Waves is Wuthering Waves; haters will always find something spread enmity.
Oh we are not at war.......the issue is that companys send paid haters. We are at war against those.
Its not a war, but some people have limited time (and money if they dont want to be f2p) so they gotta pick one since they cant do both
@@aug7952 People worrying about limited time and money shouldn't spend any on a gacha game tbh.
True. I think is best to find your circle , find a comfy place and be there. The toxicity surrounding both games is maddening at times.
@@aug7952currently, I think there is enough time to commit fully to Wuwa. Genshin is at the end of it's patch , but it's gonna be hard for me to keep up.
Snowbreak new patch comes out tom , not to mention i am playing returnal and Ghost of tsutsima at the same time. Zzz is also coming out soon.
ironically Wuthering Waves made me play Genshin again and now I'm enjoying both games lol
Same! Wuwa made me return to genshin, but it also made me feel like genshin acttually is a very good game as well as Wuwa.
WuWa makes me wanna play genshin lesser and lesser. That shitty trash good for nothing but music game
@@deadshade442 LOL.
as someone who have been playing Genshin since launch, I can now bet that Genshin combat is so ordinary. I feel that they're focus more on the story than the combat mechanics?
@@deadshade442people like you are quite literally the reason why genshin players are at war in the first place
In regards of the color, in Wuwa for some reason they turn on the brightness to almost max which makes the game look washed out. Turning it close to 0 makes the colors pop and it looks much much better than genshin. Not sure if it was a mistranslation on their side or something but the brightness setting is more like a color gradient
It truly looks better that way
yea i agree, turning the brightness down make the game more vibrant
Yep but it's also about art design. So far - open map looks more samey than Genshin's. The most memorable vista at the moment is inside dream-door. I hope they will fix that in future
@@hgyuuuuhj098 You mean the game that just came out with only one nation zone so far looks more samey than the 3 and a half year old game with 4 nations in it? no waaaaaaaaaay...
@@LordFinkenstein I know. How could they ? LMAO these people are a joke incapable of having common sense. like "if you play wuwa you are not in it for the story" tell me you didn't finish the story without telling me you didn't finish the story. Common sense is not that common after all.
No mention of the legendary dialog skip button?
Yeah HOLY SHIT... i stoped playing genshin because of the unskippable never ending dialogues...
The dialog is so annoying. And pointless sometimes
@@autraokeke8245 also.. fkn paimon
I personally do not care abt the skip button, cuz quests are mostly good (in genshin). I like the skip button in WuWa because tueir quests are kind of too boring.
@@Apolovy genshin story is so bad, at one point i clickbottet storyparts and went onto cleaning my kitchen, story was stil ongoing after i returend 20min. later...
Act 3-6 story quality is dramtically increased
Yup, especially acts 5 and 6 they were pretty good imo
not to be a 🤓☝️ but I think the reason the first acts felt so meh is because originally they were completely different everyone was pretty distrusting of rover and chixia literally pulls a gun on you so the cn community complained about rover not being “respected enough” so they rewrote the first couple acts as we see them at launch!
@@rinnne_yep, it was totally rushed. But that info dump could've been avoided. Thankfully, scar happens.
@@italomorais9424it wasn't originally rushed, they just succumbed to chinese incels not wanting any hostility from their waifus. It's like when HI3 is planning to release s male character and the same community reacted negatively.
I prefer that hostility to be honest.
@@hijodelsoldeoriente that's what I meant, they had to rush to change it all up.
So far the biggest issues just seem to be:
- Some Bugs (sometimes softlocks, Audio cutting off, etc) and performance issues
- English VA and Dialoge Text sometimes going beyond the Text Box
- Echo Farming (specifically in regards to basically needing to kill ~100 Elite monsters just to get a single Echo that has the correct Set and main stat, not even including substats. The most common suggestion is being able to randomly re-tune all or specific stats. This would lower both the needed echos to farm as well as echo materials to use up in total)
- Slow Story at the beginning (it gets SO much better later on, especially already when you get to scar)
- Somewhat maybe stale Designs in Art just for me personally (a lot of the weapons are just extremely similar, wish they had a bit more to them)
Most of these (maybe aside from specificly tuning, maybe designs and VA) will definitely be fixed over the coming updates. Just really hope they tackle the other stuff too.
Also on a side note for the event weapon banner: I really wouldn't say it's a trap. There is a 100% chance to get the exact weapon you want at 80 convenes (in comparison to Genshins ~37.5%), as well as the weapons currently on there being good for a lot of different characters. The current sword works well on Jiyan but it's also the best for Calcharo. The upcoming Stringmaster is obviously the best for Yinlin, but it's basically also at the top for Encore. So unless they decide to switch up the weapon banner similar to the one in Genshin, the banner is actually pretty good here.
am 100 % with u on the weapon style lookin pretty bland they could have done better but then i think well it is an apocalyptic typa world so maybe in the sense the weapon were made uk kinda dull n matching cause u cant really expect weapons like in genshin being all colourfull n shi to be in a apocalyptic world like wuwa but still could have done better
Finally someone who is telling facts of where they need to improve instead of barking at the game.
I agree with you on places where they are lacking
Unfortunately the weapon banner in this game seems to be a trap, yes it's 100% pull rate but weapons matter way more compared to genshin(for now at least) like Jiyan with his weapon is 35% stronger than him with the second best option.
@@spacebanana712 wouldn't it be a good thing that they are much easier to get and have much more of an actual use?
@@RealQuarlie idk about that since if weapons become mandatory because of how much of a power boost they give, the weapon banner will become more of an obligation than a luxury, because let's be honest in genshin 5 star weapons are mainly a luxury which is a good thing because people don't have to pull for them for their characters to be almost at their peak. You might see weapons being more important as a good thing but it's objectively a bad thing for f2ps. Especially if the game keeps being as stingy as it is in the 1.0 patch(for reference events in wuwa only give 360 astrites maximum compared to genshin which always gives AT LEAST 420 primos) .
I agree with you with all except the environments. I think Genshin has a huge variety after 4 years. If WW triumphs and live for 3 more years I think we could compare the variety of environments (except the music, in the music GI is king)
So true, I don’t like the fact that we’re comparing it to Genshin map wise cause Mondstadt was really vanilla exploration wise.
Port Ormos is still, hands dowm, my favorite track in Genshin's OST.
Another thing this is a post-apocalyptic world which has happened quite recently. This comparison is apples to oranges. The reason GI is more vibrant is because it's a vibrant world that has ALREADY recovered from the cataclysm. Wuthering waves is still on that phase of recovering.
Wuthering is more akin to Nier Automata in the world somewhat, the difference is Nier's world is already a destroyed world, while Wuthering is still on the brink of being saved. Also we're still early in the game, we'll see more variety of map aesthetics in the future. You can trust Kuro in that department.
That is true, but if you're comparing them right now Genshin's is just better, it's not a fair comparison because Genshin has been out longer but it is what it is.
True, compared to wuwa's current map mondstadt was simply bland, liyue was lil better but mostly same.
The devs for wuthering waves says that power creep shouldn’t be a big issue for a long time even on base characters because everything is based on skill. So the need to feel like you should be collecting the new characters is apparently not emphasized.
i agree a lot with what you're saying for sure BUT a few things that i think are worth mentioning:
(note: i absolutely love genshin and don't plan on quitting anytime soon)
-in WW you can actually farm specific boss echos (artifacts) until the end of time without needing to use a single waveplate. meanwhile you HAVE to use resin in order to have a chance to maybe get a single piece of the specific set that you want. yes, sometimes it drops, sometimes it doesn't in WW, but at least you know that when it does, you're definitely getting that Thundering Mephis or Crownless or whatever. of course, you still need to hope and pray that you get the specific main stat that you want but in Genshin you also have to deal with the other stuff.
-storywise i don't think it's fair to compare a game that literally just started with a game that has had several updates with brand new story lines. Kuro has essentially just released the tutorial with some heavier story as you get near the end but hoyo did that too. honestly i can't even imagine only having mondstadt to explore. meanwhile, WW has a nice range of biomes/environments.
-the sound design and soundtrack far surpass genshin so far imo. I've never felt the soundtrack to be repetitive the way that i often feel about genshin. in WW you don't even notice that the music has looped in my experience. I've definitely preferred the music in WW so far imo. then there's BIRDS and other background sounds that actually make the setting feel real. that's been a joy for me.
-I'm not personally a lore skipper but if someone doesn't care about the story, it's fully skippable.
-Kuro has ACTUALLY been listening to community feedback and within a week they've released several updates (not just hotfixes which have also been abundant).
overall i think the game itself has had a really solid start (though it has been riddled with bugs and lacks controller support for mobile; tho that's definitely coming soon). give it a few years and i think it'll be a totally unrecognizable game to what we have today with a really engaging story to boot.
definitely recommend.
I really appreciate your review of the game. I'm waiting on the PS5 release. I would play it on mobile, but without controller support it's a deal breaker. Seems to not run well on the Steam Deck either which Genshin runs perfect. Hoping the graphics look awesome and most of the bugs are fixed when it releases on PS5! ^-^
"honestly i can't even imagine only having mondstadt to explore"
Dude, just because you hate Genshin, doesn't mean you should blatantly lie to bring it down, people aren't dumb. Liyue already exist in Genshin 1.0
@@angelguardian21 you didn't even read my comment did you lmao. i said that I love genshin. i still plan on playing it because it's a fantastic game. getting angry because someone likes something that you don't is a YOU problem. work on yourself and do better.
i can let anything slide but Genshin having inferior soundtrack good lord man what are you on about, who cares about repetition when those soundtracks are a masterpieces of the highest order??? well i guess i can't really blame people for having a questionable music taste in the end, imma just show myself out 😩
I really can’t believe you had the audacity to say WuWa sound track was superior to Genshin’s. Are you fucking kidding me? Either you need hearing aides or are being completely disingenuous.
I think something that people keep forgetting when comparing these games is that one has been out since 2020 and one just came out. It's difficult to recall exactly how Genshin was on release sometimes but they have improved many things since 2020 and I'm sure WW will do the same
As far as the story goes I found the Genshin story pretty bland for awhile, so seeing as this is only the first release and Genshin's story didn't get good for me for at least a few patches, I'd give WW some more time to cook in that department. Plus I think part 5 and 6 of the story are already far better than how the story starts out. So there are signs of improvement
Overall Genshin itself is the only "Genshin Killer" and frankly I enjoy Genshin a good amount so I wouldn't want it to be killed. But I do want WW to succeed as more competition is great for both games. I'll still try to play WW (no pc and ps5 release date is still tbd) on my phone but touch controls are rough and I can only play for so long before bowing out (same thing with Genshin honestly, can't stand playing it on mobile). Love the combat and see a lot of potential with it though so WW will be a main game for me as soon as they release ps5 or controller support for mobile
Wuwa can't comepete with genshin because genshin came during covid. But however wuwa can give tough competition for genshin. And wuwa in general wuwa so fun to play
Wdym no pc? Just ps4/5 are not yet released.
@@ANoobInvoid maybe my punctuation could be clearer, but I mean I have no PC and the PS5 release date is still tbd
I remmeber the first patch of genshin and honestly out side of artistic design the story was very very basic tbh. Really didnt get into too much of the meat and potatoes of the story. Just the basic concepts and the opposing factions and gnoisis. Now comparing it to wuthering..... well its basically the same albeit the first 2 to 3 chapters is info overload and for some reason the game expects you to know terms and what they mean which is really bad story telling. By act 3 to 4 you kinda start understanding what eveeything kinda means and by act 6 shit gets good story wise. In my opinion genshin story didnt really get good until the release of the next country region.
@@TheShootingstarhero I second you. genshin has ups and downs with the story even now. Fountain is pretty good, yet enkanomiya was done dirty despite it's lore significance. Sumeru overall is good, but Arana mushroom quest chain was just insufferable to get through. Wuwa beginning was okayish, but when it came to Scar it got much better and with the final act with city defence I was in awe. (Except mascot popping out. I have mixed feelings about that cute fluff becoming hero of the day after such brutal arc 😂)
Wuthering waves combat is more satisfying than genshin... It's like you are actually using the weapon..... While Genshin weapons are just to make u stronger
?? it's same as sword, claymore, bow, and catalyst
@@eiyrmguns replaced bows, and there is no pole arm (i think).
Yaa but it actually feels more when are using them to fight enemy as compare to genshin because the combat is more interactive instead of just auto aiming@@eiyrm
@@db1777 gun or bow it's just design and works same long range NA/CAattack and yes + they don't have polearm
@@hardeep_negi yes combat is good
Touching on the powercreep: Some have been saying that powercreep won’t be too much of an issue because it’s more about skill than just your normal brute forcing. So, if you want to keep playing with your main, then you don’t really need to swap to a new character c: Although some bosses do have resistance to some elements, so keep that in mind
Also, I know it’s just a preference thing, but I really like the "dull" colors and they don’t look that boring. While I’m used to the bright colors in Genshin, the dull colors are easier on the eyes and blends well with brighter colors. You can’t tell me there aren’t any bright colors in WuWa (not saying shark said that, just saying in general), and if you do say that then you haven’t seen enough of the world lol. I think the coolest area where it’s super dull is Dim Forest with all the toxic fog (if you hadn’t cleared it yet via a quest). Then there’s the Sea of Flames. The red is actually really pretty. I will admit that I like hoyo music a bit better though. I like the subtle music outside of battle in WuWa, but I wish it was a bit more.
Also, you didn’t mention that you *and* the co-op person can get the echoes that drop at the same time. So if you want to *really* grind out your data bank, do so with a friend. I personally won’t be doing this, but I think that’s a redeeming factor for co-op
Comparisons of gacha rates are always tricky. Is 4% drop rate better than 0.4%? Out of context yes, but if you get 10 pulls per month in in the first case and 100 pulls per month in second case, it evens out with the other being actually slightly better. And that's still omitting whole list of factors, such as what value you actually get if you're successful, how long will the character/weapon last before you need to replace it with something better or how much fun you're actually going to have playing it.
Not sure I agree about the world exploration comparison. Genshin Impact doesn't just have enemies to fight, it has various types of puzzles as well as timed and navigation challenges, and they all reward you with treasure and gacha currency, as well as each regions own collect-a-thon such as the Frostbearing Tree or Sacred Sakura for example, which rewards further wishes and gacha currency. And because the world is more interesting, varied and has more environmental storytelling I'd say it's actually more interesting to explore. But if you've already played Genshin Impact for thousands of hours and have already 100% every region multiple times, sure, I can see the newness of WW being enticing.
This game has the exact same puzzle and exploration rewards as Genshin except even better because it has infinitely generating random events that give you Gacha currency, so you’ll never not be able to farm gems
@@UnusualEcho Damn thats good info. So I can constantly grind the gacha coins the more i play or there is a cap?
I have been playing for 4 days still there are too many things that give me gacha money. In a week you can haave 3, 5 stars and maybe 4 in two weeks free 2 play / low spender
@@aug7952
@@UnusualEcho Damn Thats cool! When are thse random events unlocked?
Also, I don't see anyone mentioning, this, but I find that having all characters be able to mine effectively and everyone can gather any resources much better than genshin restrictive collection system.
I dont think its fully random and i dont know if theres a cap nor if you unlock them but there are people with these asian style straw hats that are supposed to be the postal service that run into trouble and if u help them they give u gatcha currency. I ran into a couple of em already
Nice, recently rewatched your Account Building Guide because someone mentioned Wuthering Waves, which got me started on Genshin again, because I didn’t want to do the gacha again… And I was wondering if you are still playing Genshin or switched to Wuthering 🤔
Great video, hope you do the same with Zenless Zone Zero when it releases too.
Also gotta give credit WuWa for having a MC 5* that actually is worth that ranking (esp the Havok variant), I hope more Gacha's take that approach.
Very fair takes, probably the most fair I’ve seen yet. I’m wondering though how the difficulty can be compared since characters can’t yet be fully built in WW 🤔
i love ur input can't wait to watch this before I play wuss tysm
I disagree about the stamina system being better, sure it fully recharges in 24hs but the WuWa equivalent of domains costs 40 opposed to Genshin's 20, which would be fine if you had double the stamina of Genshin but you don't, it's only 80 more, so overall it feels like you have less than in Genshin, and that's not even taking into account that Genshin will have 200 resin soon. Also, i actually rather liked WuWa's story, not the first half, honestly it was really boring but the second half was actually better than a lot of Genshin main quests.
Yes even i think the waveplate economy is similar to Genshin . Even i find it costly to use waveplate for the materials.
I would not be so sure... almost every1 uses condensed resin, so number of runs you are actually doing is pretty much same. For real comparasion we would need to calculate how many materials you get for stamina spent. And such a comparasion would be hard to do cuz the materials itself are hardly comparable.
@@Mrkva55 Yes, i guess that's true, i hadn't considered it from that angle, i was more thinking of entertainment, since i quite enjoy doing domains in Genshin so the more runs i can do the better, i don't usually condense my resin for this reason. So for me Genshin is better, but we'd have to calculate to see which is objectively better.
I will say, if the environments in WuWa were bright and colorful like Genshin it would defeat the purpose of the game with the story it's trying to tell. WuWa's world is NOT in good shape and the color pallet reflects that. You can also make the colors more vibrant by turning the Gamma down because they labeled Gamma as Brightness for some reason.
Agreed, some people just don’t seem to understand that the gloominess is an artistic direction. Just because the game doesn’t crank up the saturation to the absolute max like Genshin does doesn’t make it worse.
Since Dark Souls/Elden Ring/Horizon exist, i do not accept lore reasoning for bland looking open world design. Its just simply not that good, heck part of the bbladness is due to how high the default gamma (too high) setting is
@@HelloOnepiece I literally mentioned the gamma in my post
@@eruptorr9103it just looks kinda bland, very typical UE4 type of look.
Please, please make Wuthering Waves content. I really enjoy watching your videos.
inc the amount of resin wont matter as much if they dont inc the rate you earn them
you get one every six minutes in WW 🙂 there's a countdown if you click the plus sign next to your waveplates.
I do enjoy the fun and interesting 'fighting a cryo slime in water' moments, and the 'you are not allowed to use this character because it deals 0 damage to this specific enemy's shield' moments.
This is a great video, I did wanna share one tidbit though, if you didn't know apparently the gamma is locked to the brightness in WuWa? I don't really know why but I think the game is much more vibrant and beautiful if you set your brightness either super low or at zero all-together.
Genshin would have to step it up. Better rewards, resin regeneration, fixing the weapon banner, that’s what I hope for Genshin in the non distant future.

@@Dendyaryadi yeah probably.

@@marumaru7789 not all. but yeah, that's called gacha addiction. when gacha is more important than the main genre of the game itself.
WW combat overall is much more versatile than GI...the parry system is awesome..feel like you are playing dark souls..give it time and the game would definitely be on par with GI in the future..
Imo it's already on par for me! :D
Esp when you're running up mountains while sprinting, god I love doing that
I enjoy wuwa.
The combat is indeed different. The world is similar. Altough i wish wuwa setting will expand outside china culture.
You can change the setting to make it more colorfull in brightness, reduce it and the color will pop up more. Turn off volumetric fog and light.
The most important thing. The dev is responsive. And you get 3 5 stars character from begining
Hopefully, 2.0 will take us to the New Federation since I'm curious about what it is like. Especially since a few characters came from NF.
New Federation seems like not using china as a base. don't worry.
Genshin developers were watching the pros on other games that they don't have then add them to their game at future date. They have upcoming mount system in nathlan and slowly adding stuffs
Hmmm but isnt like wuwa just out recently? There still can be future improvement like how genshin 1.0 used to be tho
yeah, as for genshin i it will get any better if they havent releases anything good for like a year and a half
Thanks for the vid, Shark!!! Stressful and too skillful fighting is not my thing, can't do it😂. WuWa is not for me, lol. But I'm glad people are having fun.
Have you finished the story? Because in my opinion the story is kinda good honestly. Well the early act is kinda meh but later on its getting more intense and interesting
I'd sure like to play this but it crashes, lags, and glitches on my new Samsung. I guess I'll wait for ps5 and hope it's better then.
Maybe you don't have enough storage for the game and it's bogging down your system? Or you and a new old phone that can't game lol.
@@lichmourne00I have 256GB of storage and it runs like shit on my phone too.
I have started playing Genshin a couple of weeks after its release until now, but I have to say, I’m really enjoying WuWa.I just wish they improve WuWa’s storyline.
the game is meant to be challenging the co op feature actually make since because there isn't meant to be multiple rovers running around just one also it doesn't ruin the combo system it adds to it by having multiple on the battle field you don't really need a switch out system but sadly you cant use this feature in endgame, having a system like genshin you are going to get a lot of rovers running around and thats just a bismol to what the dev want to take with the game, also the game is still in early access so stuff like music quality can increase later down the line and Rover the character you start with can also be the character you finish the game with which says a lot for a lot of gacha games out there, also the best part is that its in early access you can actually progress and actually be into the game and not have to worry about falling behind.
Genshin is a go for me for right now, I am more story person and so far Genshin wins with more organized storytelling and more detailed world places with more defined logic of woods. Though WuWa wins in combat and characters, I love their proportions, Genshin characters do look a little chibi with bigger head. Plus WuWa switching and actions are in general better.
I somewhat love it, mainly for the combat, easy climbing, the way echo work... but this game eats my battery like crazy, even when it's charging while playing it would still eat battery, like I'd go from a 90% to an 80% WHILE charging. If I don't charge it goes from 90% to 60% within like 20 or 30 minutes max and my phone gets super hot.
While genshin I can play for 8 hours without charging and got from 90% to 30% in 8 HOURS while WuWa I can max play 1 hour before I have to leave to charge it.
And being honest, I like Genshin for its lore, so if due to future updates and storage if I unfortunately will have to pick what to keep and what to delete, I'd delete WuWa and keep Genshin.
Now yes, I compared both games because the video itself is talking about similarities and differences, but respectfully they're different games, made by different companies and its different in general, so comparing them is useless, play what you enjoy and ignore haters.
Travelers and Rovers, enjoy the adventures~!
But i hope they remove walking in walls like spiderman. It's not realistic
@@Food_Guru92 it's not supposed to be realistic... MC literally dropped onto a planet from outer space 😂 so in no way is it supposed to be realistic...
That's the whole uniqueness of exploring in WuWa is that you can easily climb anything
Good review. I'd say at their core WW and Genshin is basically the same game with some key differences:
1. Combat. Genshin's combat is more about elemental reactions, and WW is more about combos/skill/outros/etc.
2. I think WW has more QOL like sipping cutscenes, but I also think WW has the better "resin" system at 240, and it refills every 24 hours.
3. Genshin's story is told way better. In Gennshin, it's one thing at a time, and introductions to characters that lets you get to know them. In WW it's just a blast of sci-fi terms: the Lament, Tacit Discords (or heartless as I call them), Resonators, blah, blah, blah.... I'm skipping whole cutscenes because I don't find it interesting or easy to follow.
4. Genshin has the better music IMO - but it's hard to match.
5. I think WW's open world actually feels more meaningful and a little more challenging, whereas Genshin's open world feels fun to explore but combat is basically a joke outside of bosses/legends.
I'm nowhere near end-game in WW, so I cannot comment much more. I don't love Genshin's Abyss (although I can clear), but I love building and testing characters in new teams. I'm looking forward to that in WW (when I get there).
Now, if only Jiyan would come home... of course losing the 50/50 and getting Verina would be nice... and then I have more pity for Yinlin next month... my glass is half full. :)
WW seriously needs music.. the last main quest battle in this patch can be perfect if the music is good.
Party Turtle is indeed best echo
Thanks for saying the thing I enjoy both games and yes it might hurt me on the long run but love the variety
Hi my beloved Shark. Nice video. The comparison is very accurate and needed for people that still don't know, or people that are trowing hate at one another.
Nice video as always my beloved Shark ❤❤
Thanks for this review, I've been wondering, but with limited time I wasn't in the position to play both...and with an addictive personality I don't want to overload myself.
As a button masher, not a skill player (and having a crap ping), I think I'll stick with Genshin, because I can at least get stuff done.
Excuse me, how is 240 "pretty much equal" to 200?
And personally, I don't agree with the part about co-op at all. It might me my bias because I prefer Jianxin who is pretty self-sufficient, but playing co-op in WuWa has been much more enjoyable so far. For me, yeah. But I'm also happy that there's no elemental resonance like in Genshin.
And btw, did I miss a part about WuWa having an amazing quality of life features that Genshin can only dream of? Skip Button? Wall running? Grapple? Did I really miss everything I just said being mentioned in the video? :) The part about graphics is rich. It's "cartoon fairy tale world" vs "post-apocalyptic world". And oh how I wish there was a word or two about 50+ types of enemies in WuWa 1.0 versus Hilichurl variants and boars in Genshin 1.0, too. :)
Important part that wasn't mention is system requirements for playing. This is why some feel like playing Genshin again, I'd bet.
As for me, I deleted Genshin finally. :') Cheers~
One core thing wuwa is character who got infusion wont be off if you switch. Making it combo god game. U can play 3 characters same time if u pro
The act 5 and 6 story are peak in WuWa
Now that's a fair assessment. Good Job!
I really want to be able to enjoy Wuthering Waves, but it’s super laggy on my pc and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ve turned the graphic way down but nothing seems to work. My computer handles Genshin and Honkai Star Rail graphics just fine, so I’m not sure what the problem is. It’s so bad to the point where I can’t even walk without lagging. Any pointers?
Burn it down.
yeah its the same thing for a lot of people (myself included). as the game progresses there will be more and more performance optimizations so you pretty much just have to wait. try changing full screen to windowed mode and tamper with making it smaller resolutions.
thanks for the review shark!
what sets apart from genshin is that 4 stars here doesn't even feel like a 4 star character
13:00 who are you to tell which game's music is better? A musician?
I got 5 5 star character in one week. Two free character selection, and 3 re from the exclusive banners plus there weapon
How do you know the soft pity starts at 50? AFAIK we don't know if there is a soft pity nor when it starts.
Playing both and using Beidou early game in Genshin is finally paying off for me in WuWa. Love both games!
You still can use QTE is Co-op. Your character just simply do intro and outro at the same time.
For the Environment part, it's not outdated just because it's somewhat muted, the setting is post-apocalyptic or post-lament, it's supposed to look in a terrible state. So you, the player WOULDN'T WANT to go in there.
But I respect your opinion, sharky.
Well they could at least make it appear more exaggeratedly dangerous yet appealing like more corrupted with glow in the environment and make the impression of "I shouldn't go there but it looks so cool"
@@ANoobInvoid like PGR, yes
@@ANoobInvoid They literally makes everything red in dangerous zones, that's the most obvious "don't go there" sign ever.
it's not so much muted and dangerous as kinda bland. it reminds me of a ton of other UE4 games and has a very average artstyle. like a lot of the environments in wuwa feel like i could see them in like 15 different other games and it'd just look fine.
a non bias review, i subscribe u, sir.
Awesome take, much appreciated. This is mostly a reflection of my experience as well. I don't care for WuWa's combat. It's tighter and more nuanced however it's not as polished as genshins and i keep encountering bugs that given WuWa's low tolerance for failure can be very aggravating.
It's a small thing but regarding exploration in WuWa, 100% Exploration actually means 100% Exploration which for me is so nice. There's been too many times I've had "100%" exploration in Genshin and still found chests in the area. I never understood why they decided to mark it as 100% with rewards still available, unless the formula they have set up just automatically rounds percentages up?
i don't really like these industrial areas but game is at the beginning so this may change later in new areas i guess but impact have some issues with explanation how to do exactly in some quests or their difficulty i mean you have to have a great dmg to finish it and some npcs have really high hp i don't know if i can make progress if i don't pull Tao and FuFu probably not
Was it like tower fantasy
(I mean can I play with other players like tower fantas)
Echoes farming might seem like an incentive to do exploration but in endgame when you want to start building characters it can start to feel like a slog because from a character building perspective, Echoes farming is the Wuwa equivalent of Genshin's relic farming... with the caveat that you can't see if a piece has bad substats because you have to level them.
If you could kill Echoes to gain materials that you then feed to your character to boost a desired substat, it would be so much better. But they made it totally RNG: literally the same thing people hated in Genshin and Star Rail relic systems. So I think it's only a matter of time before people start to realise this and before you know, it Wuwa endgame will be full of those same complaints of getting so much trash pieces with HP or DEF
Good review! I'm not sure I have the skill to play WuWa long term, but having fun with it now. Combat is completely different, but the comparisons to Genshin will exist simply because outside of combat, the systems are extremely similar. I'm more worried about the end game grind in WuWa and getting totally burned out at that point. I've played Genshin for about a year and a half and I get so sick of artifact grinding, but weirdly hasn't bothered me much in HSR, because I can auto those and quick mark them as trash, so easier to manage. But echo farming doesn't seem.. great. I'd disagree about the weapon banners being traps in WuWa, though, since it's guaranteed.
the glazing for genishin is crazy hahaha
I like how Devil May Cry they went even more than the ACTUAL devil may cry gacha game. You see a game like this and just can’t forgive peak of combat for being peak garbag.
maybe is not a genchin killer but is wake up call to make the game better becouse thsi one is very close and is on 1.0 so thats allways good to have new games that make other publisher to step up and make there games better
Shooting puzzle for phone in Wuthering waves sucks, 20 tries and I can't finish it, it's too shaky!! Also echoes stats I get just sucks, I have way better luck in Genshin's artifacts.
I don't like being one shot, specially with my ping I get my echo summon gets wasted, in Wuthering waves.
I play both games, and tbh i like both... Why stick to one when you can play and enjoy both... Right?... Fighting over which is better or worse is just imho plain immature and stupid... No games are perfect... Grow up, move on, touch grass... Peace....
The thing is not all people have time for both so they have to make a decision
For my part, I didn't know how boring genshin was in endgame until i got the real deal with ww, like a mature version of genshin imo
When we can touch grass if we play both game?
@@josuawhite2209 Yes i think its possible if you really optimized your time... For eg: im a married and 9hrs daily working person and on top of that i currently study PHD in a university... But at same time i still have balance time to mingle with my family in daily-weekend basis as well as going out with my friends once a week (weekends)... So its all about how we arrange our time... When there is a will, there is always ways...
@@josuawhite2209 yes... We can... Take me as example... Married, have fulltime job (9hrs daily), and university phd student... I still have time to balance work, study, family and friends... Ging ia not just my hobby, i have other outdoor hobby such as sports...
BEST VIDEO on this topic so far.. HATS OFF
Looks like bro didn’t play released version.
I really like it but there is something in the visual and soundtracks that doesn't fully click with me. Anyway for now I can only play it on PC and I mostly play on console so I'll play it more if and when they release a console version. In the meantime I'm collecting the post launch free stuff 😅
Honestly if it weren't for the current ping and disconnect issues atm; the game would be great. But it's having serious issues with this for a lot of players.
Is it a lot of people? I've been playing nonstop and haven't had any issues in the game yet. Runs buttery smooth.
@lichmourne00 Yeah, it seems to be a serious issue. I'm personally thinking it has to do with the game checking file integrity constantly. Possibly due to loading new areas. I'm hoping it mellows out when most of an area is cached. However it's been nonstop disconnect issues for quite a few.
Weird I haven't experienced any connection issues yet, I guess I've been lucky.
@@galetalon3133 You might be right, I haven't disconnected but I have noticed lag spikes here and there when entering a new area.
The good thing is that combat is client-side on here, instead of every interaction having to be checked by the Server
I think a lot of genshin fans just want something new and it does feel like they are very tight with their rewards where as HSR and even now wuwu just throw free summons at you. We all stuck in our genshin toxic relationship when we are happy when they throw us trash haha
the echoes from open world is the same as getting artifacts from chests tho...
Imo, the waveplate system is neither better nor worse than GI.
I mean yes it is almost 50% more than genshin, but the required usage for collecting rewards is also 50 % more than genshin. For eg. GI require 40 resin to collect any boss material and in WuWa its 60 waveplate. For normal domain 20 resin in GI and 40 waveplate in WuWa.
I think the economics is the same in both games . Even though WuWa has increased the "resin" yet it uses more to collect rewards.
Also there is not yet the condensation of waveplate system implemented in the game maybe in future!.
If you think you find it similar or different let me know your opinions.
The story on Wuwa is good. Act 5-6 are best acts.
Also consider that the game just released while Genshin is out for years
havent played wuthering waves yet but from what ive seeb i love the battle animations more
bro what wuthering waves combat music is INSANE
I think you do not understand what he said. The music in wuwa is o alright, but it is not as good and as memorable as the music in genshin. I am a music - specialized school student, so i can definitely say as well as many other musicians that genshin music is phenomenal. Wuwa has no memorable music except for the log in menu music.
@@Apolovy ohhh i see yeah genshin music is more memorable
Soft pity after 50 pulls? What source did you get that from?
The gatcha in this system is way better then Genshin ever was. I haven't spend a dime and have all legendarily, except one(the new one), and have currency to spend on souls to get higher rank character without actually just rolling. You might say that I'm lucky, but even if I was, how did I get even 2 ranks for some legendary character... if I got 2 for some legendary(might not been on the legendary I wanted, but still), you should be able to get at least 1.
And the most important thing, you can run everywhere without being limited by stamina, and you have full stamina from the start, and you can run up the mountain.
The game makes you feel like they appreciate your time - that's a big bonus.
Looks like an interesting game 👍 thanks for the video 😊.
How similar is it to Zelda this time around?
One thing I hate about Wuwa is my game crashes even when I’m on Wi-Fi it goes black and the kicks me out of the game..I experience to much lag to the point I can’t play it anymore 😔
At best, I hope it'll become a competitor for Genshin gacha system, just like (ironically) HSR is a competitor with it's banner system, so they can improve them.
As for the environment design : it's a post-apo / dying world. Well, Teyvat had a lot of civilization who went trhought apocalypse, but it was a long time ago and the world is (in appereance) stable, where solaris 3 might end at any moment.
Can't really agree on HSR as a competitor for genshin, it's a turned-based game while Genshin is open world and there is no other game like that for competition. (Aside Tof the failure🤮)
Which is why they don't give enough rewards unlike Hsr...
Wuwa will really be a competition for Genshin considering they announced new endgame + increased resin AFTER Wuwa's release and it's an open world that seems to have certain things better than genshin that appeals to a huge chunk of players to play Wuwa instead of genshin.
thanks for the comparison... now i know for sure i would prefer genshin over wuwa without needing to ever try out wuwa because of the combat system... i am bad physically in my skills so i prefer to rely on knowledge on the mechanics than skills to improve on the battles.. i would struggle in wuwa combat no matter how much i try but genshin system i can get better with as knowledge is something i can always improve on without hitting a physical limitation...
I play wuwa 2 day and after that i play genshin until today and never open wuwa again.😢wuwa have a good combat system but i love so much genshin combat system specially their elemental reaction also their music is very good😅
No mention wuthering wave combat like swap cancelling, intro, outro skills, unlimited stamina out of combat etc
Great review, realistic and fair enough for both games 👏
The fact that the music hasn't been memorable so far in WW is especially jarring, since Punishing Gray Raven, Kuro's other IP, has some of the biggest bangers to ever bang.
Genshin color palette are more Bright vivid and eyes candy, it hard to compare but at the first glance Genshin look nicer in almost every area in Wuwa it some area it looks great but some aren't but they could improve it with better texture and lightining if they see fits since it's UE4 engine.
As i play both Mihoyo games and Kuro's game i would says the longer Wuwa stay the more amazing design character and movesent and even more complicated character mechanic will be out if they want to chasing that routes like in PGR.
and PGR skins man, so many goooooooood skins. 10x bettter than genshin skins for sure.
The Illusive Realm gamemode is more or less the equivalent of HSR's Imaginary Universe
forgot to mention the weapon banners are guaranteed to be what you want. There is no 50/50, especially not 2 50/50s like genshin's weapon banner. Definitely not a trap if you want to min max your fav character.
if you want to get echo with good sub stat you need to WIPE OUT YOUR MAP and level up echo is HELL you can't use echo to level up echo it takes 2 full days of energy to fully upgrade +25 golden echo.
Wuthering Wave's combat is just so much fun, feels really good, responsive, and pretty deep if you want to get the most out of it, story so far is just okay, Genshin has a better story, I'd say Genshin has better music and english VA also, but Wuthering Waves will probably improve it intime, it has only just released, the rest of the game I would say is a lot better in Wuthering Waves in every way in my opinion.
WuWa will improve as time passes by, you’re right. But because of WuWa, Genshin will improve too, so Genshin for now is a better experience (except for combat, but not for everyone though) and Genshin WILL continue to improve so even though WuWa is a good game - but becuae of its existence, Genshin will always be a few levels better overall.
@@Apolovy Yep hopefully that's the case that they will both improve to keep up with eitother, which is a good thing.
Genshin always being a few levels better I do not agree with, not saying that it can't be true, I'm just saying there is no way to know that, there are already enough ppl thinking that WuWa is a better game, me included, but it's because I value combat most in games, and WuWa's combat is just way more my thing.
@@Apolovy Genshin is not better than WW at all, and it's not going to improve. Wake up, whiteknight.
Aesthetic and art style is a personal preference like how colorful genshin and just ebough for wuwa .. it is intentional like final fantasy 7
Agree in everything except for WW not rewarding knowledge in combat, I´d say it rewards knowledge almost as much as Genshin, characters in WW do have a lot of complexity maybe even more than Genshin, you don´t have to know about reactions but you have to learn a lot of how they use their forte, how to create teams based in their outro-itro, how to increase concerto energy etc. their "artifact" aka echo system is also complex so you have to know how to build each character properly and if they add more echo sets in next patches, the complexity might increase.
I like WuWa still, Genshin is first ARPG game which have special place in my heart.
Oh, i forgot to mention. I play this game on potato pc. Waaay below system requirements: My PC i5 4570, 8 Gb DDR3, Nvidia GeForce GT 630. Motherboard is some Fujitsu Siemens PC for office which i upgrade with VGA and RAM. On first day after release it was lagging (mostly because of ping, i think that it was not been optimised for my network card which is ancient) now in last update it is much muhc better, loading screen still long but shorter then on start, on start ping was been 130-999ms now average is around 60-90ms with ocasional jumps to 160 to 300ms.
Greetings from C3pio!
The only true Genshin killer is the Hoyo itself
It is simple for me. The combat was super enticing given that it has a lot of avenue for advanced combat and skill expression. But during my bout with the game, the manner in which is has been implemented leaves a lot more to be desired. I feel robbed of actually achieving something skillful, rather than just being handed it over. Maybe it is because I am used to games that require sharper dodge/parry timings. Regardless, the timing feels very relaxed and that just makes me feel like I am being rewarded for something that I didn't really 'achieve'. The second is the particles and effects. Tons of particles and effects that aren't really grounded enough to the action, adds to a ton of flair, but takes away from my experience with the game. And with these two, I feel less inclined to continue playing the game, to the point where I just quit.
