    Order the new sound kit all worked well during the bench test, then put unit on model, sound worked for a few trial runs, but once I engaged the shift servo, the sound quit. I did follow the instructions and watched the video, for hooking up the wires, (red is positive, brown is negative, and yellow is signal), also observed the proper polarity. Which of course is obvious, seeing as it was working. I at first thought my battery was undercharged, I’m using a 7.2 volt, like the one from my hunia 573.

    I remember when WPL first came out. They were cheap too.
    I have the V2 sound system. It's okay, kinda qwerky. But, WPL is great for the money.
    I have the C14, C24, B34, B14 I think. JJRC 104? HEMMTT 6 X 6.
    Have upgraded most with 370 motors, 2-sp trans, metal drive shafts and axle housings with brass gears.
    When WPL first came out, I was getting for about $30 or so. Then I'd put $50 in upgrades it.

    my C-24 and MN-D90 were really early with plastic everything, both now metal axle casings (13 bucks for both, each) and axle gears (11 bucks for both, each), metal drive shafts, B-36 gearbox in the C-24 and 260 motor+gearbox in D90.also A285004 oil filled shocks (12 bucks a set of 4). they can/do nickle and dime you until upgraded, but they're beasts now, getting 2-1/4" of 1 wheel lift (flex) from them, they're hard to stop... definitely not "junk" like the original early releases that they did used to be. for a "winch", a lighter leash makes a good passive one for about a dollar, they fit to the C-14, B-1, and MN-D90 pretty nicely.
    at 12-13 minutes... looks like a need for some front wheel weight and some cut/trimmed tires. down the center I clip out the rows of 3 dots, and nip the corners off the corresponding (narrower) lugs, gives them a lot more bite, especially with the "deep dish" stock rim mod I've described a few times already (its simple and cheap too).

    A bit on the instructions said 'you may use your own connector that fits'. Does that mean the red "JST" connectors will work on the circuit board or does it have to be the black "JST SM" (I think that's what they're called) connectors? Nothing but bare 'male' pins on that circuit board so it looks sort of universal, at least for these smaller connectors...

    I purchased a WPL C14 after years away from the RC hobby. What lured me on to these trucks was the fact that they could be upgraded and possibilities seemed endless esp of you have a a smidgeon of creativity. Next came the C24 which the C14 donated a great deal of parts to over time.
    Then the MN99 and Fayee FY003 came most recently and they have also become one truck at this point.

    Build looking nice over all but the steering link, as u already said, hurts haha. Also Leafsprings looking fantastic but the offroad capabilities are kinda....meh u like more jumping over the rocks than driving =)
    Also the car is really low, i got a ground clearance of 2,5cm at the axles and 6cm at the middle also with a 2 gear box which i only use ion second gear cuz i got portal axles too and it already got sooo much power !!! And add some weight to the axles ^^ it looking really light, mines at about 1,2kg ready to drive, 52/48% weight front/back about =) makes alot difference.
    But on lower terrain and smoother surface this one really running better than mine, doing a really really good job there

      I prefer the normal shocks, but like the realism of leaf springs. There is a really simple mod for the stock leafs to get some good flex by using a long screw on each of them (Run That RC, recently made a video), that's probably the best option rather than spending the money on these ones.

    How to correctly plug in the existing wires to the ESC so nothing's shorting/wrong way round, where and what to solder to new motors, what servos are compatible with the 7 4v Lipo battery pack WPL supply with their ESC kits...? I'm puzzled whether a 4.8v to 6v servo is compatible with the 7.4v Lipo battery you supplied with the ESC kit for one thing. Cool little truck you built up, but the sound still reminds me of a diesel when it drops to idle. Funny, quite a few of the Russian trucks use a gas motor till you get to the much bigger military versions and they like making those so maybe that's more of what they are used to hearing and seeing. US went to almost all diesel in our trucks but over there maybe the extreme cold has something to do with the mix of engines they use.

    Normally really like your videos but I found the "run" a bit painful to watch. I really like the idea of the sound but in actual fact it's just a bit pants! And still sounds like a diesel? Maybe a little easier terrain next time to actually show off what the truck can do rather than what it can't 🤷‍♂️. Any way, I still love watching your channel and I will be back for more next time 😉

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  Před 4 lety +1

      No worries dude, it's nice to see some constructive criticism, people are often too nice lol. Anyway, this was a brand new place i'd never been to before, so was a bit trial and error. Along with putting the steering link on wrong, it was the best I could do. I have always said these are decent 'trail trucks' rather than crawlers. Although I think the winch test will show a few people its capabilities. As for the sound, i guess the camera doesn't do it too much justice, and also because the speaker is now a lot smaller, you can't quite get the quality of something like the ESS Dual. Anyway, no offence taken ;)
