Maan I can relate to the dude, being a sportsy person and then not being able to run anymore sucks.. I've been there for 2 years, having to fight with it for the rest of your life is just hard to accept. I'd be in the gym constantly. Glad he kept his smile.
I've not watched the show but I've read the manga some years ago and I love how the author really tried to make it reflect how it's like in reality. The couple faced many challenges and sometimes they run away from the problems because they are not easy, but then they learn to grow together and overcome them. The story really shows how reality is like for people with mobility disabilities, and how being in a relationship with someone like that is. The girl really had to question herself if beyond just having attraction to the guy, whether she can live the rest of her life aiding the guy with his many needs that seem to come so easily to the regular person like herself without mobility issues, like having to help him to poop, and whether she can accept the other "side effects/consequences" that come with his condition such as having children where their journey in trying to have a child was portayed very well in my opinion. Many times, I feel like my eyes are opened when I read about certain situations and what has to be done, because these are just not things that many people know about. When we read the author's notes, we find that the author is also learning as she researches on this topic and interviews real life couples who are in similar situations.
This story is definitely an emotional rollercoaster and shows the many emotions and things people go through when having such conditions, but I do recommend reading/watching it!

Such a distant memory of the past. In 2008, days of side bangs and and real life without technology, I moved into a new school in 8th grade. I developed a crush on a cool looking kid who was seemingly very nice. Brunette, mix of ice blue and deep blue eyes, slender, clean dressing sense, and smelled of pine forest which was his signature body wash type.
After some time I found out everyone in the school knew he was autistic. And it was actually blatantly obvious but apparently not to me at first. I started noticing it after a few months of us knowing each other when our conversations started getting longer. And then some one confirmed it one day, made a joke on his state and asked me why I hang out with him. It hit me all of a sudden. All the signs, the strange conversations, mismatched emotions on unexpected topics, the sudden vanishing or going quiet while talking abruptly. Very exxagerated hand and body gestures. Pacing back and fourth quietly muttering or acting like something he had seen and memorized from a movie. Attraction or love as people call it is a wild thing. It's not a small thing that I didn't recognize it right away, because my brother is autistic and I had grown up with him and been with him my whole life. I knew autism. But that state of infatuation I had with him made me literally oblivious to something that's obvious. When I found out, I felt intense sadness. For him. Thinking how it must be for him made me sad. Also,what made me sad was that I had thought we were getting somewhere, all in my own head, before I found out. I continued talking to him and very soon realized it was completely not the case from his side. He was actually just truly very kind. I had mistakenly assumed I he thought of me as much as I thought of him. I could tell. As a girl, that he wasn't even into "liking" at all. He just talked very kindly to whoever talked back with him. And then forgot about them until he saw them again. He wasnt romantically motivated in anyway. Eventually we went to different highschools and never saw each other again. But watching this video reminded me like a Canon that I related to this girl in a way, and the memory came out of the archives. Right at the moment when she sees him in the wheelchair for the first time. What a trip. I know ain't no body reading this long ass comment lmao if you did wow you're a rare human ❤
